At Helsinki's 20th "Art Night," Falun Gong practitioners participated in the celebratory activities at Hesperian Park in the downtown area on August 21, 2009, to promote Falun Gong, to expose the Chinese Communist regime's ten-year-long persecution of the practice, and to urge people around the world to help put an end to the persecution.

"Art Night" is the culmination of the Art Festival, and the park and the streets were packed with people. In Hesperian Park, Falun Gong practitioners unfurled an eye-catching "Falun Dafa Is Good" banner and set up display boards showing that Falun Dafa is popular in over 100 countries around the world. They collected signatures on a petition protesting the persecution of Falun Gong. Several young female practitioners in beautiful ancient Chinese costumes gave away flyers and paper lotus flowers to passersby.
Among the different cultural and artistic activities in the bustling park, practitioners' performance was the most striking. The magnificent demonstration of the five sets of the Falun Gong exercises accompanied by the peaceful music attracted the attention of many people that stopped to observe. Some videotaped the peaceful and magnificent scene. Other accepted the flyers distributed by practitioners, and still others talked to practitioners to learn more about Falun Gong. Many people praised the demonstration, saying, "Very beautiful! Very peaceful." Some even suggested that practitioners demonstrate the Falun Gong exercises at different places in Helsinki.
Learning the exercises |
Several visitors asked participants for more information on the Falun Gong exercises. One woman, after listening to practitioners' introduction and watching the demonstration of the exercises, decided to learn them right away.
After they realised how wonderful Falun Gong is and understood the truth about the persecution, many signed to support Falun Gong and help put an end to the persecution perpetrated by the Chinese Communist regime.
