As the second largest British city, Birmingham is well known for its diverse population. During the recent Diversity Week at Birmingham Metropolitan College between February 13 and 17, many students and faculty members were excited to learn about the ancient meditation system of Falun Dafa from China.
At the Matthew Boulton Campus in downtown Birmingham, Falun Dafa practitioners set up a table to provide information to visitors. Impressed by the gentle exercise demonstration, Rebecca Hayllar and Jessica Pilling from a nearby table were interested in learning more about the practice. They asked many questions and were sad to hear that Falun Dafa practitioners have been suppressed in China for 18 years for their belief.

A teacher from Iran said that he had heard about Falun Dafa from a friend. “I know it is a great practice, and I am glad to see it here,” he said.
Arifa Kabir, organizer of the event, said that she was happy that Falun Dafa practitioners could participate in the event. “I think [Dafa's principles of] Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are great. Plus, meditation is something that will benefit young people like me.”

Mr. Tony Dennant, head of Matthew Boulton College where the event was held, said that there are not many Chinese students at the college, so information about traditional Chinese culture has been limited. He hopes that practitioners can participate in Diversity Week every year so that more people can learn about Falun Dafa and traditional Chinese culture.
