The World Economic Forum, also called the Davos Forum, is going to hold its Inaugural Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2007 from September 6th to 8th in Dalian City. Just a few weeks before the conference, the Chinese government stepped up its suppression of Falun Gong in Dalian City.

On August 14th, 2007, the police simultaneously arrested around 36 Falun Dafa practitioners. Among them, nearly twenty were arrested in one practitioner's house. The Xincheng Accounting Firm in Dalian City was ransacked and ordered to cease operations. Many practitioners working there were arrested.

At around 2 p.m. on August 14th, more than a dozen agents from the State Security Division and 610 Office1 stormed into the Xincheng Accounting Firm, restricted the employees' freedom of activities, interfered with normal business operations, and banned the firm from conducting any further business. Mr. Yin Libin and others, including Ms. Wang Chunyan, her two older sisters, and her daughter, were among the practitioners arrested. Their homes have been broken into and ransacked one by one.

Note

1. "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
