On October 29th, 2006, the Partnership Walk was held at University of Houston. The event was organised by the Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A., and the theme of the walk was to end global poverty. With a decades history, the walk attracted about 8 thousand participants. Many prominent figures including Texas federal representatives, city councilors, and the president of the University participated in the Walk.

| Some Houston Falun Gong practitioners participated in the Walk | |
Some local Falun Gong practitioners also participated in the event, and their procession, which featured bright yellow T-shirts and a banner which read "Falun Dafa-Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance", was very eye-catching. Many spectators greeted them by waving their hands or applauding. Some also talked to practitioners to learn more about the persecution in China.
