On July 13th, 2006 a Scottish Falun Gong practitioner taught the Falun Gong exercises to a group of 14 elderly ladies as part of a Pilton Elderly Project “Fit and Fun Day” in Edinburgh.
The practitioner, who was previously employed by Pilton Elderly Project, has been invited to teach the ladies the Falun Gong exercises each year at the “Fit and Fun Day” for the last three years.
This year most of the elderly ladies had learned the exercises in previous years and were happy to re-acquaint themselves with them and deepen their ability to practise them.
Many of the ladies were frail and infirm, so they practised the standing exercises sitting in chairs.
It was remarkable how well they remembered the movements that they had learned previously and how gracefully they performed them.
The ladies commented on how relaxing and how peaceful they found the exercises. They really enjoyed the music as well.
The practitioner shared with the ladies some stories of the benefits people have received from practising Falun Gong, how practitioners try to incorporate the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance into their lives and the remarkable healings that have occurred from practising the exercises and embodying the principles.
One lady bought a video with the founder of Falun Gong, Li Hongzhi, teaching the exercises. They all were happy to receive leaflets and newspapers telling about the benefits of the practice and the cruelty of the persecution.
They unanimously said that the persecution was awful and unfair. The ladies couldn’t believe that a practice as special as Falun Gong should be vilified or practitioners in China treated so inhumanely.
The elderly ladies warmly thanked the practitioner for coming and said they wished she could come on a regular basis to teach them!
The group leaders took part and also really enjoyed the session.
This was a successful day bringing the beauty of Falun Gong into the community of Pilton in Edinburgh.
