At the invitation of IGFM, local Falun Gong practitioners held an anti-torture exhibition in Bonn, Germany from November 4th to the 6th to expose the brutal persecution of Falun Gong in China.
The anti-torture exhibition was a prominent part of a photo exhibition hosted by IGFM. On the opening day, reporters from the major media attended the press conference. A representative from IGFM stood right next to the practitioners’ exhibition and gave a speech in both English and German. It was mentioned in particular that the most serious human rights violation in China at present is the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong. Many reporters filmed the exhibition. Even passers-by were shocked by the display and gathered around to listen to the speech.
After the press conference, many stayed behind to find out more about Falun Gong and how the persecution came about. After learning the real situation of the persecution, they voluntarily queued up and signed a petition which called for an end to the persecution and the rescue of practitioners in China. It also called for a trial of the former Chinese president Jiang Zemin and requested the German president Horst Koehler to express his concern to the visiting Chinese president Hu Jintao.
The weather wasn’t the best and it rained on and off, but many people still came along and signed the petition. The petition papers quickly ran out in just over an hour and we had to make more copies. Falun Gong’s display received the most attention for the duration of the exhibition.
(Note: IGFM stands for Internationale Gesellschaft fuer Menschenrechte which means International Association for Human Rights).
