On June 14th 2005, Falun Gong practitioners from Europe and Taiwan attended a peaceful appeal in front of the Chinese Embassy in Helsinki. A statement was read calling for an immediate end to the systematic human rights abuses that have been waged against Falun Gong practitioners for the last six years by the Chinese Communist Party.
Between 200,000 and 1 million practitioners have been illegally sent to forced labour camps without trials. The statement called for all practitioners who are illegally detained in China to be released, and to bring all officials who are guilty of torture and partaking in the campaign of genocide against Falun Gong to be brought to justice. “They have used all kind of tactics, ranging from torture to denial of housing, employment, education etc. simply because Falun Gong practitioners like to improve themselves physically, morally and spiritually,” said the statement.
