On Saturday the 11th of December, Falun Gong practitioners gathered in the centre of Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic, to raise awareness about the five-year campaign of genocide against the practice. The day before was World Human Rights Day and this provided a good opportunity to give out leaflets and talk to people about the large-scale persecution of China’s 100 million Falun Gong practitioners.
Many people stopped to read the posters and asked questions such as, “Why do they persecute you?” Practitioners told them how this persecution is actually a personal vendetta by former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin and a few other members of the Communist Party who choose to follow him. Millions of Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally arrested, detained or abused by Chinese police and human rights workers have documented over 38,000 specific cases of torture or severe abuse. Jiang called for Falun Gong to be “eradicated“and issued orders to kill Falun Gong practitioners and count the deaths as suicide. He has used the media to continuously slander and defame Falun Gong, whilst tightly preventing access to any information about calls to end his human rights abuses and actions to bring him to justice in a court of law that are taking place all over the world.
Many people were keen on taking up Falun Gong and asked for details of practice sites in their local area. Practitioners gave them details and told them how Falun Gong exercise classes are always taught for free by volunteers and have been done so ever since Master Li introduced the practice in China in 1992. Many people are excited and surprised when they hear about the tremendous physical and spiritual benefits that practitioners of Falun Gong have encountered, such as the overcoming of illness or peace and harmony in the family.
