On May the 27th, the US Federal Seventh Circuit Court conducted a court debate on Falun Gong practitioners' lawsuit against former Chinese president Jiang Zemin on charges of Torture, Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity. In this lawsuit, the defendant Jiang is being sued for planning, instructing, carrying out and leading attempts to eliminate Falun Gong. The actions of the defendant Jiang has led to the premeditated murder, disappearance, widespread torture and mass extinction of tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners.

On the 27th and 28th of May, German practitioners went to the Chinese Embassy to support the pending court debate of the lawsuit with strong righteous thoughts. This lawsuit is of great importance in upholding justice and conscience. Today, Dafa practitioners from Berlin gathered at the Chinese embassy to send righteous thoughts continuously, and will do the same tomorrow.

Since October 2002 when Terri Marsh, the American human rights lawyer representing Falun Gong practitioners, handed in a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin to the US courts charging him with Genocide, Torture and Crimes Against Humanity, waves of lawsuits against Jiang have been filed all over the world. In Europe, Asia, Australia and many other countries, Falun Gong practitioners have initiated lawsuits against Jiang Zemin with the support of world-renowned lawyers, making full use of the laws in each country. In November 2003, well known criminal lawyer Wolfgang Kaleck, who was responsible for bringing a former Argentine dictator to court, helped Falun Gong practitioners to sue former Chinese president Jiang Zemin for genocide, crimes against humanity and torture in Germany. This lawsuit has precipitated a huge reaction in German legal circles.

In a letter of reply to the German Falun Dafa Association, Ms Leutheusser Schnarrenberger MP, former head of the German Justice Department and former media spokesperson for the German Democratic Party, said, “The lawsuit against former Chinese president Jiang Zemin will surely be debated amongst German members of parliament and its people. Your lawsuit has made the point that persecution of human rights should not be tolerated in silence. For the past few years, as media spokesperson for the Democratic Party in Germany, I have spoken on many occasions with Falun Gong representatives. My colleague Mr. Funke is presently taking over my duties. I have handed the information you gave me to Mr. Funke and his assistants, requesting them to handle this matter.”

Potsdam University Law Faculty Professor Mr. Hellmann said in a reply letter to practitioners, that the eighty-six page narration of the court indictment is very adequate. After reading the entire indictment, he had a complete understanding of the severity and a broad view of the persecution of Falun Gong. He was very shocked at the brutality and the system of the persecution. It also made him unable to remain silent.

Professor Rinken, Head of the Courts of Bremen Federate State wrote a letter to practitioners saying, that he had been observing the persecution of Falun Gong. The lawsuit handed in by Falun Gong practitioners suing Jiang Zemin and his gang for crimes of genocide made him even more concerned about this matter.

The lawsuits brought by Falun Gong practitioners have also obtained widespread support from the people in Germany. In appeal activities held in various places, many passersby often stop to sign their names supporting the lawsuit against Jiang Zemin.

This lawsuit has been accepted and is being tried by the German Federal Procuratorate. The procurator in charge of this case has told the lawyer representing Falun Gong practitioners that the indictment has narrated in great detail the facts and respective legal implications. He and his colleagues are currently conducting a serious and careful verification of the case.
