Dear European Friends of Falun Gong

Thank you for your recent letter regarding the treatment of Falun Gong practitioners during the Chinese New Year celebrations in Paris. I completely sympathise with you on this matter. These allegations, if true, are a blatant illegality and a serious disregard for civil liberties and the right to freedom of expression.

I wrote to the French Ambassador, Gerard Errera, on January 30th raising my concerns over the appalling treatment of the practitioners. Furthermore, I have asked that these allegations be investigated as soon as possible, and that the Parisian authorities clarify the grounds on which the arrests were made.

I will update you on any developments as soon as I have them.
