At 4pm local time in Paris yesterday, Minister Delegate for Local Freedoms Mr. Patrick Devedjian met with French Falun Dafa Association President Mr. Tang Hanlong at the French Ministry of the Interior. Mr. Devedjian expressed that the unreasonable acts conducted by the police against Falun Gong practitioners will not happen again.
After the meeting Mr. Tang said to reporters that regarding the incident last week, where French police arbitrarily detained dozens of Falun Gong practitioners for a short time during the Chinese New Year Parade on Champs Elysees, Mr. Devedjian expressed: "The French government and people all know that Falun Gong practitioners are peaceful people, and the unreasonable acts taken against Falun Gong practitioners last week by French police will not happen again."
Mr. Tang told the reporters that he had expressed his dissatisfaction with Minister Delegate Devedjian, and believes that the police's unreasonable acts damaged the values of freedom, equality and fraternity, which are principles cherished by the French people. At the same time, it damaged the image of France as a country that safeguards democracy and human rights.
Mr. Tang continued, "I also told Minister Delegate Devedjian that the French police's actions may be used by the Jiang regime's media to further deceive the people of China and escalate the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners, and this is something that would be intolerable to Falun Gong practitioners and those who uphold justice all over the world."
