News from Lanzhou: Two Falun Gong practitioners, Mr. Bai Sanyuan and Mr. Wang Yunbo, who were detained in Lanzhou No. 1 Detention Centre, are in danger of dying due to the brutal torture they have suffered. They have been sent to Gansu Jail Hospital for emergency treatment.
Bai Sanyuan is from Jingyuan, Gansu Province. He was sentenced to three years in prison because he appealed to the government to stop the persecution. He did not accept the sentence and went on hunger strikes many times to protest the illegal sentencing and the inhuman torture of practitioners. He has been detained for two years and nine months. Wang Yunbo is a student in the Business Management College at Lanzhou University. He was sentenced to eight years in prison because he clarified the truth of Falun Gong. He has been in detention for over two years. Because of their long terms in detention, both practitioners are emaciated and extremely weak. They are very close to death. We appeal to the international community to help in gaining their release.
Falun Gong practitioners Lao Yang and Lao Huang were forced to leave their home three years ago and have been homeless ever since. On the afternoon of August 4 of this year, they were abducted by a policeman on the street in Lanzhou. They are presently detained at the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Class in Lanzhou.
Ms. Han Zhongcui, over 40 years old, was an employee in the Lanzhou Railway Station Street Committee Office. Because she is steadfast in practising Falun Gong, she has suffered from persecution. She has been detained five times in Beijing, Lanzhou, and other places. Most recently, she was detained at the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Class for four months, where she refused to write the "Guarantee Statement" [a statement to declare that he or she is remorseful for practising Falun Gong and guarantees not to practise Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again associate with any Falun Dafa practitioners]. Ms. Han went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention and persecution. She was on a hunger strike for three months. Her weight dropped from 160 pounds to 90 pounds and the policemen would brutally force-feed her. Ms. Han was very weak due to the hunger strike and the persecution. The police feared that she would die in custody and did not want to take responsibility, so they released her. Because there was nobody in her home to take care of her, Ms. Han's sister, who lives in the countryside, took her home to recover her health. Less than one month later, on September 28, policemen and other agents from her work unit drove to Shuiquan Village, Jingyuan County, which is 200 kilometers away from Lanzhou, claiming that they would take her to Lanzhou Hospital for therapy. Several of these people carried the extremely weak Han Zhongcui to the vehicle, without even giving her time to put on a coat and socks. The local countrymen saw this scene and all condemned such malicious behaviour. Ms. Han was sent back to the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Class. When Ms. Han's family members went to Lanzhou to visit her, the Gongjiawan brainwashing class personnel refused to let them see her.
