Denmark: Activities Despite the Cold on World Human Rights Day

Tuesday December 10th was the 2002 International Human Rights Day. Dafa practitioners in Denmark held some activities on this day to tell people about the brutal persecution being inflicted on millions of innocent practitioners in China. These activities were held in the famous pedestrianised area of central Copenhagen, Gammel Tory (Old Square). The Dafa practitioners hoped to tell the people of Copenhagen about the horrific crimes against humanity being carried out by Jiang Zemin’s evil political gang of hooligans at the moment. They also wanted people to see through the Jiang regime’s attempts to spread their terror tactics into the free and democratic society of Hong Kong by introducing the Article 23 legislation.

As the practitioners gathered on Gammel Tory, the weather suddenly turned extremely cold and passers by were unwilling to reach out their hands and take a leaflet. However, thing soon changed as the practitioners began to demonstrate the exercises. People began to be attracted by the gentle and beautiful movements and hey stopped walking to watch. They were glad to accept leaflets telling them about the persecution in China and the latest news on Article 23.

During the three hours of activities, several Chinese tourists from Mainland China got a valuable chance to learn the truth about the persecution. This is something that is very difficult for them back home because in China the Jiang regime possess tyrannical control over the country’s media, using it to slander Falun Gong and cover up the horrific crimes that they are committing. The Chinese tourists were very friendly and accepted the VCDs and Dafa leaflet, telling the practitioners that they would read it afterwards. Some Chinese tourists even had their photos taken with a Falun Dafa banner and exercise demonstration in the background. After witnessing their behaviour, the practitioners could feel that more and more of the lies and deceit instilled in the mind of the Chinese people by Jiang’s regime had been destroyed as practitioners reveal the facts about the persecution all over the world.

Several Danish citizens expressed their concern for the suffering practitioners in China and condemned the state terrorism of Jiang’s group of hooligans and criminals. Many Danish citizens asked the practitioners detailed questions about the Falun Gong exercises and wanted to learn more. Among them was a Danish lady who knew a lot about China and wanted to write to the Danish Government and Chinese Embassy to condemn the persecution of people who want to follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. An engineer from Slovakia patiently and carefully watched all five sets of exercises and asked the practitioners many questions. He took as many different English leaflets as he could away with him, as well as an English VCD. He said that he would study them in detail when he got back home. He was very happy to learn that there is a Falun Gong practice site in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, where he can learn and practise the exercises for free.

Turkey’s national television station were conducting a survey and talking to pedestrians about Denmark’s membership of the EU. They decided to interview the practitioners and asked questions about the activities. The cameraman shot footage of the whole interview with the Falun Dafa banners and exercise demonstration in the background.

Many veteran practitioners were very busy and could not attend this event I the centre of Copenhagen. Therefore, this was a good opportunity for the newer practitioners to play a leading role in this event and show the public how they act in accordance with the principles of Falun Dafa – Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. All of the practitioners cooperated well together and the event was very successful, despite the freezing weather.
