Yongjie Zhu | Weiguo Xie |
My fiancée, Yongjie Zhu, is 29 years old. She lives in Beijing, China. She was arrested by the National Security Bureau on 4th November 2002 in Beijing. Until February 2003, her whereabouts were unknown. We now know that Yongjie is imprisoned in Daxing female labour camp in Beijing.
Yongjie started practising Falun Gong in 1995. She became a more helpful person at home and at work. On July 20th 1999, the Chinese Government banned Falun Gong and began an irrational campaign of brutal persecution. Yongjie lost her job. On 29th October 2002, she was forced to leave home and live on the streets of Beijing due to persecution from the police before Chinas 16th Communist Party Congress.
When Yongjie was arrested, a member of the National Security Bureau interrogated her parents. This criminal tried to find out information about me in the UK. I have already been put onto a blacklist in Chinas National Security Bureau because I practise Falun Gong in the UK.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient and advanced system for improving body, mind and spirit. It involves the practice of gentle, meditative exercises and the improvement of ones moral standards by following the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance. Yongjie is only one of the thousands of unlawfully detained Falun Gong practitioners in China. As far as we know, hundreds of thousands of practitioners have been abused in mental hospitals, and illegally sentenced to up to 18 years imprisonment of torture. To date, more than 525 have even beaten to death.
I sincerely hope that the British Government and kind-hearted people can help in the campaign to free my fiancée, and free all imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners in China.
