Falun Gong practitioners in Italy protested near the Chinese Embassy in Rome to commemorate the April 25th appeal and to expose the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) 9 years of human rights abuses against Falun Gong. The practitioners demonstrated the five sets of Falun Gong exercises and displayed banners.

Czech practitioners protested in front of the Chinese Embassy to call for an end to the persecution of their fellow practitioners in China. The protest was to commemorate the ninth anniversary of the April 25 Appeal and draw attention to escalation of the persecution in China during the run-up to the Olympics.

Representatives of Falun Gong practitioners at the gathering in Finland said they are strongly protesting the CCP's brutal nine-year persecution of Falun Gong, especially the organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners for money. They called for an immediate stop to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

On the ninth anniversary of April 25th, 1999, Falun Gong practitioners from Ireland held a candlelight vigil and petition outside the Chinese Embassy to commemorate April 25th. Practitioners unfurled two large Chinese and English banners reading 'The World Needs Zhen Shan Ren (Truth Compassion Tolerance)' and 'Stop persecuting Falun Gong'. They protested against the brutality of the CCP peacefully and with reason, asking for the CCP to immediately stop persecuting Falun Gong and for them to release all the Falun Gong practitioners who have been illegally imprisoned.

On the evening of April 25th, 2008, Falun Gong practitioners in Switzerland held candlelight vigils at the Chinese Embassy in Bern and the Chinese Consulate in Zurich, commemorating the peaceful appeal in Beijing by over ten thousand Falun Gong practitioners nine years ago and protesting against the Chinese Communist regime’s intensified persecution of Falun Gong before. the Olympic Games

Li Zhihe participated in the Peaceful Appeal in Beijing on April 25th, 1999. He said that the CCP framed the peaceful appeal by 10,000 Falun Gong practitioners as an attack on the government to deceive the Chinese people and find an excuse to further crack down on Falun Gong.

On the ninth anniversary of the “April 25th Appeal”, Falun Gong practitioners from Spain gathered at the Chinese Embassy to hold a commemorative activity. On April 25th, 1999, over 10,000 Falun Gong practitioners spontaneously went to the State Appeal Office to conduct a peaceful appeal and ask for the release of 45 practitioners who had been illegally arrested in Tianjin city

On the evening of April 25th, 2008, Austrian Falun Gong practitioners staged a peaceful appeal at the Chinese Consulate in Vienna to commemorate the day when over 10,000 Falun Gong practitioners peacefully appealed at the central government compound, Zhongnanhai, in Beijing. Austrian National Television Station and some other media also covered this activity.

Nine years ago in Mainland China, facing unfair treatment, tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners arrived at the central government compound in Beijing to hold a peaceful appeal and ask the related government departments for fair treatment. After that, a full scale persecution of Falun Gong was launched by the CCP, which has now lasted for nine years.

On Friday 25th April, UK Falun Gong practitioners held a candlelight vigil opposite the Chinese Embassy in London. The vigil was to protest against the 9 years of persecution Falun Gong practitioners have suffered at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). UK Falun Gong practitioners have now been protesting at the Chinese Embassy since September 2000.

Practitioners protested against the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong at the Chinese Embassy in Oslo and showed their support for the 35 million Chinese who have withdrawn from the CCP.

In the afternoon of April 19th, 2008, Falun Gong practitioners exhibited posters and collected signatures to expose the Chinese Communist regime’s persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. The activity was held at the Place Fontaine des Innocents near Chatelet in Paris. After learning the truth, many people signed the petition declaring their support.

Recently Falun Gong practitioners held a peaceful protest at the Chinese Embassy in Munich, exposing the CCP’s persecution of practitioners in China. They displayed banners exposing organ harvesting by the Chinese Communist Party from victims, and demanded that the CCP immediately stop the interference with the "Chinese Spectacular".

Bulgarian practitioners from all over the world gathered on March 22nd, 2008, in front of the Chinese Embassy in Sofia to protest the persecution of Falun Gong in China. The protest was held together with a group of people who are sympathetic to Tibet. The event drew the attention of the media and passersby. Practitioners disibuted informatin and taked with passersby.

On March 22nd, UK practitioners held a press conference at the Chinese Embassy in London to protest against the CCP)s recent intensification of the persecution of Falun Gong in the name of the Olympics.

On March 25th, 2008, Falun Gong practitioners held a press conference at the Chinese Embassy in Ireland protesting against arrests of large numbers of Falun Gong practitioners on China on the eve of the Olympic Games. The practitioners called on the international community to be concerned about human rights in China, and to put pressure on the CCP to release all illegally detained Falun Gong practitioners in China.

On December 13th, 2007, Ukrainian Falun Gong practitioners held a protest at the Chinese Embassy urging the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to stop its eight year persecution of Falun Gong. Practitioners distributed truth material and newspapers to tell the people that in China Falun Gong practitioners had been illegally thrown into labour camps, mental hospitals and even been tortured to death and that the CCP’s purpose was to force them to give up their belief.

On February 12th, the Falun Gong Association, one of the sponsors of the Shen Yun Spectacular, held a rally in the shopping centre of Duisburg, a city in the west of Germany. On learning that the Chinese Communist Party (the CCP) attempted to stand in the way of the Spectacular being held in Sweden, Karl Eilert who has already retired said with a sigh, “I cannot simply imagine the CCP even wanting to interfere with a cultural performance such as the Shen Yuan Spectacular. We are living in a democratic country, the CCP has gone so far to extend its influence here and this is really very hard to understand".

On the morning of December 24th, 2007, a group of Turkish Falun Gong practitioners staged a peaceful protest against the Chinese Communist Party and the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners at the Chinese Embassy. The persecution has lasted for the past eight years in Mainland China and over three thousand innocent people have lost their lives.

In order to stop the CCP from persecuting Falun Gong practitioners and from its conduct of removing organs from living Falun Gong practitioners as soon as possible, Falun Gong practitioners in over one hundred of cities all over the world have been disclosing and protesting against the CCP atrocities by using methods such as staging re-enactments.

Senator Sergio D'elia stated that the rally was very important because it let people in the free world know what is happening in China. He said that one of the reasons that human rights violations take place in China is because the international community doesn't pay enough attention to them. He pointed out that what we need to do is to let the free world know what is going on and then ask them to exert pressure on the dictators. Senator Malan proposed a resolution which would require the Italian media to report on human rights issues in China when reporting on the 2008 Olympics.

On the afternoon of 25th October 2007, the Global Human Rights Torch Relay arrived in London. Vice-President of European Parliament Edward McMillan-Scott chaired a press conference at the Foreign Press Club and gave a speech on Trafalgar Square along with other politicians and representatives from human rights organizations.

This was an extraordinary parade with people of all ages from white haired old men to young children - flyer distributors, runners, bicycle riders and families in their cars followed. They were from different races and genders, but came for the same purpose: to call for an immediate end to persecution in China.

A grey wintry day in London was brightened by a torch of hope on Thursday, October 25th. The torch is the symbol of the Global Human Rights Torch Relay. This event draws attention to the human rights abuses committed by the CCP and resolutely states that “Olympics and crimes against humanity cannot coexist in China”.

On Saturday the 13th of October, Bislet Stadium, where the Olympic torch was lit during the Winter Olympics in 1952, was again the centre of a torch relay. This time, though, it is the arena for the Global Human Rights Torch Relay. The Torch Relay started in Athens in August this year, one year before the opening of the Olympics in Beijing, and is being passed on to thirty five countries around the globe, with a demand to China to fulfill its promise about respect for human rights. The Torch Relay has received wide support from people, politicians and previous Olympic medalists both in Norway and internationally.

In downtown Dublin, a ceremony and rally for the arrival of the Human Rights Torch were held. The purpose of the torch relay is to call upon the international society to pay attention to the human rights violations and the persecution of Falun Gong in China, and to ask them to boycott the 2008 Olympics if they are held by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

On 14th October 2007, the Olympic Human Rights Torch Relay arrived in the Swedish capital Stockholm. Stockholm is the 22nd city since the start of the Relay initiated by CIPFG on 9th August. Swedish relay runner Per-Arne Brjesson took the lead in carrying the torch through Stockholm.

On October 8th, the Human Rights Torch Relay arrived in Sweden’s second largest city, Gothenburg. MPs from seven different parties gave speeches at the event and many human rights organisations, artists and young athletes were there showing their support. They all condemned the persecution of the Chinese people by the CCP regime.

On the 7th of October, the Global Human Rights Torch arrived in Sweden’s third biggest city, Malmö after leaving the Danish capital Copenhagen. Sydsvenskan (Swedish Southern Daily) TV station and many local newspapers reported on the event. Many politicians and a famous singer came to the event to call for human rights in China.

On October 3rd 2007, the Human Rights Torch Relay initiated by the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG) arrived in the Netherlands’ political capital The Hague, which was the first stop of the Relay in the Netherlands. Among those who participated in the relay were musicians, poets and representatives from all walks of life.

On the 6th of October, the Human Rights Torch was passed from the Netherlands to Denmark’s capital Copenhagen. It was a rare sunny day during autumn. All present wore yellow ribbons in support of lawyer Gao Zhisheng, who has lost his freedom due to persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and is still being persecuted in China.

October 1st is the National Day of Mourning in China. On this day, the Human Rights Torch Relay arrived at St. Niklaas City, the fourth stop in Belgium, where the sixtieth Peace Festival was just celebrated. The Mayor decided to let the city hall become the recipient of the Torch as a part of the Peace Festival, to express support from the city for human rights in China.

Ostend’s MP Wouter De Vriendt and Great Flanders’ MP Gino De Craemer held the post of ambassadors of the Human Rights Torch Relay in person. They started from the city centre, Wapenplein Square, ran along a big coastal road to today’s main meeting field Deli Harpers Sculpture and attracted the attention of many tourists.

The torch relay is to protest against the Olympic Games being held in Beijing when such terrible human rights abuses are happening there and among other issues demands the release of adherents of the peaceful meditation practice Falun Gong. A United Nations report regarding torture revealed that 66% of torture victims in China are Falun Gong adherents. According to reports, these people are systematically murdered in Chinese slave labour camps for their organs, which are traded for economic profit in world markets. The torch relay is meant to put pressure on the Chinese Communist regime and bring hope to the people in China.
