Following his "interrogation," he was so black and blue from bruises all over his swollen body that he was unrecognisable. In later interrogations, agents of the "610 Office" beat him so badly that they broke one of his legs, which never healed correctly, and caused him to walk with a severe limp. Although it has been a year and a half since his detention, Peng Shiqing's family members have continually been denied visitation.

In the morning of August 1, the "610 Office" special unit drove a white van onto Chongqing University premises to monitor the communications within the school and arrested all faculty who discussed this matter. That van was equipped with a complete set of modern equipment that can monitor wire and wireless communications. On the evening of August 3, the special unit officers arrested over a dozen Dafa practitioners on the Chongqing University campus. They were all faculty members and there were about two or three professors.

In the detention centre, the head, Geng Zhanwu, beat her brutally, causing severe internal injuries in her heart and lower back. Later, she was sentenced to a two-year term of forced labour and was sent to Gaoying Labor Camp of Baoding City. She had been steadfast in her practise of Falun Dafa and has never yielded to official attempts to have her renounce the practise. After she was released from the labour camp, the "610 Office" of Hengshui City and the city police department tried several times to arrest her but failed in their attempts.

Only because I practise "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," my family was broken up because of the persecution by Jiang's regime. What I experienced was only the tip of the iceberg; hundreds and thousands of fellow practitioners have suffered inhuman torture. The crimes that Jiang has committed against practitioners who cultivate "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" are countless.

On the way to appeal, the Beijing policemen interrogated me. They took away my appeal letter and all of my money, and tried to force me to slander Dafa and Teacher. If you did not obey them, they would beat you up. After I was illegally detained for a couple of days, my work unit brought me back home. The public security office then asked for 3,000 Yuan as a penalty, and my work unit later laid me off.

I requested to see an Australian embassy officer. They rejected my request and said, "What do you want to see embassy officers for? Do you intend to stir up conflict between the two countries? We will make you pay if you do not behave." They confined me there for seven hours and kept threatening me. "We have seen many cases like you. You must have been away from China for too long and not too familiar with the situation here. Listen, there are thousands of people with the same name as yours in China. It means nothing if one of you disappeared.

Police sent Qing Mingzhen's brother sent her to the "Wuhou Legal System Learning Class," which is actually a brainwashing centre. Qing Mingzhen did not cooperate with any instructions from the police, so police captain Liu slapped her face heavily 18 times in front of the family, causing her dizziness and profuse bleeding from her nose. Police then handcuffed her hands behind her back to a tree. With righteous thoughts, Qing Mingzhen left the brainwashing centre, and now has become destitute and homeless.

They took off our clothes, shoes, and socks, and made us stand barefoot on the snow, while at the same time we had to bend our bodies and legs. They would lash us with leather straps if we slightly disobeyed them. Under our feet, the ice covering the ground was over one foot thick. It was snowing and a strong wind was howling. They pushed an old lady in her 70's to the edge of an open sewer, which was over one metre in diameter. They kept beating and pushing her and almost made her fall down into the sewage pit. Even these words cannot describe the barbarity!

A practitioner refused to cooperate, so evil policewoman Li Shoufen and some prisoners physically abused her and posted papers on her face, which were full of slander defaming Falun Dafa and Teacher. Li Shoufen let those inmates torture the practitioner to death and then write something to certify she died of illness. One of those who had been brainwashed refused to do so, therefore, Li started to abuse her. During these years Li Shoufen tortured countless practitioners.

After the guards finished their dinner they started to torture me again. I was handcuffed and was squeezed into a corner. They used their feet to compress my chest. That made me unable to breathe and I suffered pain in my ribs. They then used a lighter to burn the hairs on my chest, my beard, my eyebrows and my genitals. The torture lasted a long time. I struggled and sweated a lot. They continued torturing me with such dirty, vicious and brutal torture until they felt tired.

During his detention at the Anshan Forced Labour Camp, under the direction of the Party Commission Chief Zhang Zhenyang, the police and criminals cruely tortured him. They used sleep deprivation and relentless false propaganda to attempt to brainwash him. Zhang Quan suffered a great deal both physically and mentally, leading to his suffering a mental collapse. He lost his desire to eat or drink, had blood in his urine for more than a month, and his health deteriorated rapidly.

In October 2001, because I was persistent in practising Falun Dafa, police from Division One of my hometown police department arrested me. They took all my Dafa books without a search warrant. In the evening, they led me blind-folded to an unknown place. In the enquiry room, they handcuffed me to a tiger bench (a torture device). Two policemen in their 20's told me that they had forced an older lady to stay outside in the winter for a whole night. She fainted in the cold and was injected with medicine to wake her up in the morning. They threatened to beat me so badly that I would lose control of my bowels and bladder.

Yang Yuanqiu, a Dafa practitioner from Shuangnian Village, Chengdu City, was the alternate supervisor of the village. Because Mr. Yang conducted himself according to the principles of "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance" he was an upright official. The party secretary of another village and that village supervisor were jealous of Yang Yuanqiu and feared him because of his righteous behaviour. They were afraid that the fact that they embezzled over 100,000 Yuan would be exposed. (note: An average urban worker's monthly wage in China is about 500 Yuan) So they staged an action to frame Yang Yuanqiu.

During the campaign to "assault fortified positions" period in April 2002, day after day, he kept lecturing practitioners over and over again, "The Communist Party pays me, and I do whatever it tells me to do. Since it forbids you to practise Falun Gong, you just can't practise. The only choice you are facing now is being reformed. Just listen (Dafa practitioners' painful cries while being tortured could be heard all over the building.)! In several days, you will be assigned to these Units. Who can bear this?

Because of the policy that implicated them and threatened their interests, they took it out on me by resorting to all forms of violence -- banging me against a wall, attempting to throw me down a flight of stairs, slapping me on the face, strangling me with their hands, and pinching me leaving wounds all over my body. The neighbour saw that I was beaten up and said: "Is Falun Gong really that good? Your two sons and your husband hit you so heartlessly, yet you didn't fight back or scorn them."

He started to refuse to eat what I cooked and stopped talking to me. Later he said he would rather have a wife who was not as good as me as long as she did not practise Falun Gong, to bring him a peaceful life. I thought as a couple we couldn't suffer together and go through tribulations as well. He pushed me so hard that I agreed to get a divorce. I felt very hurt. I lost my home and stayed at my work unit's dorm.

In order to conceal a very depraved case of a female postgraduate student being raped by the policeman in public, Chongqing University went so far as to delete the speciality of "High-voltage Transmission Power" from its website and then claimed that there was no such a student. The university has really gone too far by taking these actions.

During the Moon Festival of 2002, Wu, an elderly Dafa practitioner from Longquan Village, was illegally arrested by the police. During the arrest, the police kicked him so hard that one of his ribs was broken. He was later sent to a detention centre. At first, the police tried to extort 5,000 Yuan from his family, then later lowered the amount to 2,000 Yuan in exchange for his release.

Team Leader Yi Xiuyan screamed: "This time you must 'reform'!" I realised a bigger test was coming. They rushed at me, when one person became tired of beating me, he was replaced by another person. When they were all tired, they beat me with the barbed sticks. To them, I was nothing more than a sandbag; they attacked with all their strength around-the-clock.

This old lady clarified the facts to whomever she saw, and everywhere she went, including the police in the detention centre, people from the "610 Office," the head of a factory, and passers-by. The evil persecutors couldn't do anything and were helpless. They tried to murder the old lady but failed. They sent her home and locked her inside, not allowing her to go out. The old lady behaved the same way, telling people that Falun Dafa is good and that Jiang's regime is deceiving and harming people.

On the day of a farmer's market, the police legal assistant and the tractor station director took me to the police station and cuffed me to the front door of the station. Then, he viciously told me that I would serve as a warning to the market attendees: those who would go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong would know what to expect. They forced me to wear a big display board (slandering Falun Gong) in front of my chest. Thus, I was humiliated until they took me back to the farm, which was after 5.pm.

Then they kicked and stepped on the back of my knees for a while, and finally went away. Soon after, they came back with ropes and viciously said, "We have never had the chance to use these ropes since we bought them a few years ago. Now they can be used on Falun Gong." Then they forced me to take off my winter coat and tied me up with the ropes. They even said that because I was old, my suffering would be less compared to other Dafa practitioners.

We went on hunger strikes to protest, and the vile guards force-fed us with excrement. I was force-fed twice with excrement, and afterwards, I had a fever of over 40 degrees Celsius (about 104 degrees Fahrenheit) and serious diarrhoea. Under the severe physical and mental torture, I suffered a mental breakdown. The labour camp, afraid of taking responsibility, asked my family to take me back home in August 2001.

They kept grabbing me by the shirt and yelling at me. They shook my head and body violently. I felt extremely sick and threw up until I couldn't anymore...Later I was sent to a hospital...My face was pale and swollen, and I was hardly conscious. It turned out that I had suffered a concussion.

During this period, the teachers and the schoolmaster gave me "ideology education" and tried to force me to tell them the whereabouts of my parents. I was deeply hurt mentally. My classmates looked at me with strange looks. Sometimes when I was in class, I would be asked to leave, by the teacher saying, "A leader from the education bureau wants to talk with you. You should just listen and say nothing."

The author of this article has been illegally detained at the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp, Shenyang, Liaoning Province since October 1999, only because she practised Falun Gong. In the laour camp, the torture she suffered caused her to almost become blind, and she lost her hearing from being beaten. She was shocked by electric batons, heavily beaten up, shut up in a closed cell, and forced to perform hard labour.

During three years' persecution, my relatives have also suffered from the pain of separation, and from continued fear and worry. My grandmother, who is in her 80's developed senile dementia after her daughter and son-in-law were sent to a forced labour camp.

After this term ended, I returned to school, where my department arranged for two classmates to live with me off campus. These classmates were assigned to report to the department office. They had to follow me closely, never leave me alone, and were even threatened that if I went to appeal or did other things for Dafa, they would not graduate.

My family, once happy and harmonious due to our practice of Falun Dafa, is now persecuted by Jiang's regime so severe that my family members cannot even reunite. At the age of 15, I am now deprived of my parents and the privilege of going to school. Even more, during this time period, which Jiang's regime hails as "the best time of China for human rights," a 15-year old child has become the victim of reckless police kidnapping and pursuit.

After we came back home from shopping my mum was illegally detained for another 15 days in accordance with the government's policy of maintaining "public security." I will never forget that Chinese Spring Holiday that I spent alone. During those holidays, I didn't even have one meal with my mum like other kids did and I only wished she could come home soon.

The third day another two hatchet men from the public security bureau came. As soon as they saw me, one of them said, "It's me who tortured Song Hengjie to death." The other one said, "No responsibility is noted for torturing Falun Gong practitioners to death. If they die, it's counted as a suicide." Song Hengjie and I lived in the same district. He was tortured to death in 2001. Police lied by saying that he committed suicide.

A local head of the Politics and Law Committee often called out: "Even though you Falun Gong have over 100 million people, you are still a minority. You will have to give up the practice of Falun Gong even if you are unwilling to. For those stubborn ones, our Party has all kinds of methods to make you succumb. We can find a place and have you destroyed. Our government has made up their mind to eradicate Falun Gong."

The practitioner was kicked from one policeman toward another, and then that policeman started to kick him. I felt extremely saddened. All the people in the room saw this atrocious scene. One person shouted to the police who were doing the beating, "It is forbidden to beat people!" She tried to rush out of the room after saying this but as a result, she was shackled to an iron column by the police.

They quickly isolated the woman of more than 50 years old to another room and beat her up. Coming from the other side through the wall, I could hear shouting, screaming and moans of agony. And on this side, a police officer beat me on the head with an electric baton, and used different ways of abusing me until I finally collapsed on the ground. Then they ran a dirty mop over my face again and again. This went on until midnight.

Inside the strict control room, there were only a few wooden boards on the bed without any covers, and my hands and feet were shackled to the bed 24 hours a day. I could not move at all. I was bleeding terribly under the cruel torture, my pants were full of blood and faeces, my blood made the boards all red, and my whole body was so cold that it shook and made the whole bed shake along with it. Worrying that other people could hear the miserable cries from the small cell, they stuffed dirty rags into practitioners' mouths using a steel wire to fasten it there.

Henan Agricultural University alumnus, 29-year-old Falun Gong practitioner, Mr. Song Xu was abducted a fifth time by the local police officers. He suffered terrible tortures and his health is in a desperate condition. In early January 2003, he was sent to Jinshui Hospital for medical treatment. Around February 10, he was sent to an emergency room for rescue and he has been there for more than 20 days up to present. Overseas Falun Gong practitioners call for an urgent rescue of Song Xu.

The 2nd Brigade in Jinzhou Forced Labour Camp is a concentration camp to torture Dafa practitioners. I was detained there for about four months, and witnessed the insanity of the demonic police officers. Since September 2002, determined Dafa practitioners were brought to the torture chambers. There are two such chambers in which Dafa practitioners were tortured in two different ways.

On the morning of October 1st, around 8 a.m., I unfurled a 5-meter-long banner that said, "Falun Dafa is Good!" Several dozen police began beating me, some with long iron bars hidden in their sleeves to strike my head repeatedly. My head and entire body were bleeding. My clothes were soaked with blood. I passed out on the spot and was carried by the police to Beijing's Qianmen Police Station. The police threw me in a quiet place while I was still unconscious and left me for the night.

...My neck was swollen to the size of my head, my face was full of bloody blisters. My ears extended because of swelling. My lips were swollen and turned to the outside. When I took off my clothes, all the people were so stunned that many of them burst into tears and dared not look at me. On my breasts and under my armpits, were bruises and scars from wounds strung together like beads. My breasts swelled up and were too painful to be touched, my nipples were burnt black.

Then they handcuffed my parents and forced them to go to a detention centre. It was a frightening scene! I didn't want them to go, but the strangers didn't listen. It's been two months since then. I miss my parents very much! My uncle went to the detention centre to try to get my parents to come home, but he was told, "Both were sentenced to forced labour education for three years.

In the September of 2000, I saw Wang Weiyu when I returned to China. At that time, he had been forced to leave school and become homeless. He told me his experience of visiting Tiananmen Square to appeal for Falun Gong and of being tortured in the police station. In August 2002, he was kidnapped in the company where he worked part time. To date, it is unknown where Weiyu is.

The evildoers are really afraid of being exposed for what they have done to Dafa practitioners. Once we heard that the higher authorities had requested to inspect Masanjia. The camp authorities made thorough preparations a few days in advance. They chose a few people who had been brainwashed and transformed who were easy to handle... Later, we learned that human rights organisations came for investigation. What they saw was all sham!

When my brother-in-law saw the shape of his wife as a result of the torture, he held my sister tightly and was choked with tears. Immediately he realised that the so-called "education and persuasion" proclaimed by the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp were nothing but lies intended to cover up their crimes.

They used all kinds of tactics to try to shake my belief. They tied my arms and legs to the four corners of a bed so that I could barely move. It was very painful when they force-fed me every day in this position... They would then shamelessly say that it was all for my benefit.

As soon as Li was sent to the labour camp, she started a hunger strike to oppose the evil persecution. During her hunger strike, her health was in a critical condition a few times. Her family also strongly requested to see her several times but their request was rejected each time.

During this time I have heard, seen, and encountered so much that I now realize what it means to be persecuted and what darkness really is…The police also placed a wooden rod against the back of my legs; two people then stepped on the rod and rocked back and forth. I was not able to walk normally for more than a month afterward. Such agonising torture!..If it were not for my faith in Dafa I don’t know how I would have survived.

Due to the joint efforts of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the "Nancy Chen Urgent Rescue Team," and many other concerned parties, Nancy Chen was finally released at about 10:30 a.m. on January 30, 2003 (Beijing time).

I was a healthy woman, but now I was disabled, skin and bones, with white hair. Whenever my colleagues came to visit, they were shocked, "You no longer look like a person in your early forties. They changed you into an old lady with their torture!" Seeing my appearance after being tortured, people would ask, "Is this the kind of 'caring and love' shown to Falun Gong practitioners in the TV programmes?"
