"In March 2002, police officers arrested me. They kicked and punched me 65 times. Even though I am elderly, they still tortured me like that! I was sent to a forced labour camp, where I was shocked by an electric baton until I lost consciousness. When I woke up, I found I was in a small room with horrible odours. I found out that it was the mortuary. Later, I learned that I had been unconscious in that small room for three and a half days. They were preparing to cremate me but stopped when they discovered that I was still breathing."

"Because Mr. Ma Jujun constantly appealed for Dafa, corrupt officials sentenced him to two years in a labour camp. After his release, the 610 Office arrested him and sent him to a brainwashing centre for further persecution. Because he was steadfast in his belief, he was frequently trailed, monitored, harassed and threatened. Later, he was arrested and sent to the Mental Hospital in Urumchi where he suffered inhuman torture. He was persecuted to death on September 27th 2004."

"After I came to Canada in 2005, my health and spirit visibly improved the moment I arrived here. The most important thing is that in Canada, one can freely practise Falun Gong because Canada respects one's freedom of belief. I cannot help but shudder whenever I think about my days under the persecution in China. Under the persecution, my husband was murdered, my son and daughter-in-law could not find a job, we could not visit our friends and relatives, and my son and I could not go back home. I don't want to keep the memory of that terror in my mind."

"My name is Xingxing and I am 15 years old. In November 2000 the police arrested Mum when she was telling people the truth about Falun Dafa. At 2:00 a.m., a group of people suddenly broke into my bedroom and searched all over the place. They made a big mess by turning everything over. I was supposed to attend school the next morning, but did not get any sleep that night. They confiscated many items from our home. That day I truly experienced the terrifying feeling of being a robbery victim. From that day on I could no longer call out "Mum" when I returned from school. Mum was not home any longer."

"When I first arrived at the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp, the guards pretended insincerely that they cared about me and wanted to help me. They asked some collaborators to "reform" me. A few days later, the guards showed their true faces. They beat me whenever they saw me meditating. They handcuffed me to a bed so that I could not stand up or squat down, and I had to stay on my knees for seven days and nights. My knees and wrists were broken, and my wrists were burned."

"The policemen lit nylon ropes and allowed the flaming plastic to drip on my arms. My hands and arms were covered with blisters due to the burning, and many scars were left after the blisters were gone. During the daytime, they ordered eight people to beat me. They asked me whether I would continue to practise Falun Gong. I would say yes, and they would slap my face with the sole of a shoe. Every inch of my body had been struck at some point. When the policemen saw that I was not afraid of death, and that they could never "transform" me, they gave up. On January 26th 2005, I finally went back home."

Every other day, they would insert a tube into my stomach through my nose and force-feed me with two bags of soy powder mixed with 300ml water and salt. They called this force-feeding, but in fact it is a brutal torture method. I was in great pain during the whole process. Four people would hold me down by pressing on my legs, twisting my arms and locking my head in a certain position, and then the doctor would insert a tube as thick as a small finger into my nose and down into my stomach, causing me to choke and vomit. To make me thirsty for water, they would put a large amount of salt into the tube as well. In order to prevent me from having a heart attack, each time they started the force-feeding they would stuff a few pills into my mouth.

My wife, Wu Yanxia, was a loyal Chinese Communist Party (CCP) member. However, when the CCP tried to force her to give up her beliefs, her conscience overcame her loyalty to the Party and she said "No" to the CCP. As a result she was immediately relegated to a different class of people in the eyes of the authorities. She lost her freedom to visit her relatives and friends. The police and neighbours constantly harassed her family. Our house was broken into and her computer searched. She was followed wherever she went and her telephone line was tapped. She was arrested and taken to a brainwashing centre many times, and she lost all of her freedom.

"My wife, Wang Xiuying, is an employee at Xi'an Jiaotong University. Because she does not want to give up her belief in Falun Gong, she was abducted by a group of police from the 610 Offices. Her colleagues told me that she was carried away by the police, and that she is currently being subjected to brainwashing and mental torture at the Worker's Health Centre in Xi'an City. My wife is a very nice and honest person. Just because she practises Falun Gong, she has been abducted by the police many times and sent to detention centres and forced labour camps to be brainwashed for several months. She has been physically and mentally tortured in an inhumane way. Now my family is not like a family anymore."

Ms. Gao didn't come out because of her bad health, so several team leaders forced her out. Female guard Liang Zhen shouted, "Handcuff her!" Tang Yubao took an electric baton and rushed at Ms. Gao. He grabbed her hair, pulled her out of bed and pushed her into the aisle. Before Ms. Gao was able to get her balance, Tang Yubao started to hit her face from both sides. He then grabbed her by her hair and hit her head against the table and the wall."

"I was imprisoned in the Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp by the local police because I practise Falun Dafa. I suffered nearly two years of persecution in the labour camp. The guards there treated practitioners in a manner too cruel to describe. Guards handcuffed me in the "big back-cuffing" position [this is a very painful form of torture in which one arm is pulled down the back behind the head and the other hand is raised up from the lower back. The two hands are handcuffed together, causing unbearable pain]. I was handcuffed for two hours in this extremely painful position. I got out alive from the labour camp, but suffered extreme torture."

Jiang Renzheng and his wife Guo Rui are Falun Gong practitioners. Falun Gong is a traditional Chinese qigong practice, which is based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. On March the 7th 2005, Jiang, Guo and their two little ones were deported from Germany to the People’s Republic of China. China, without exception, persecutes all those who practise Falun Gong. Germany refused asylum to this family, because the German authorities did not believe that this family would be in any danger.

Ms. Zhao Zhaoquan, 65, is a retired teacher living in Luzhou City, Sichuan Province. She started practising Falun Gong in May 1996. After July 20, 1999, when the persecution began, Zhao was detained four times, imprisoned three times, sent to a drug rehabilitation centre twice, sent to brainwashing sessions once, placed under house arrest once, and sent to a forced labour camp for two years. Zhao was fined 15,800 yuan and had 295 yuan stolen from her. Since November 2000, Zhao has only received 200 yuan a month from her retirement pension, allowing her only minimum daily expenses. The rest of her retirement pension was taken to pay off her "fines."

Ms Zhang Shufen was imprisoned many times and suffered relentless torture and persecution. She recounts experiences in Harbin's Women's prison, " six people holding handcuffs in their hands jumped on me and began torturing me. They handcuffed my hands behind my back, with one hand over my shoulder and the other hand against my lower back. Jailed criminals held an electrical baton to torture me. They pushed me down onto the floor, sometimes with my face up, sometimes with my face down. They kicked and ruthlessly beat me. While beating me a criminal said, "This is precisely hell on earth.""

"Inside Zhuzhou (Baimalong) Women's Forced Labour Camp in Hunan Province, the persecutors tortured me with several of the torture methods at their disposal: "Five Horses Splitting the Body," "Up in the Air," "Modelling in the Air," etc. They were part of the so-called: "Educate and Save," "Re-Educate and Re-Save" and "Ideological Education Like Spring Showers and Breezes" programmes initiated by the purportedly lenient policies of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)."

They asked me many questions. I did not mind telling them my good experiences of practising Falun Gong. I told them all about it. But when they asked me specific things like the names of people, certain events or things I felt that could harm other people, I was not willing to tell them. They were not satisfied with my answers and they told me that I was not cooperating well.

"I was arrested by the police when I went door to door to give out leaflets exposing the persecution. One policeman told me during the interrogation, "We are the machines of the CCP. If the CCP has us beat you then we will beat you." They also said that if the CCP orders them kill people, they would do it, because the CCP will give them money. They had no trouble getting my mouth to bleed during the beatings. As I used my hand to wipe the blood away, they forced my hand away from my mouth. They beat me to the point where I became dizzy and lost my eyesight."

"A police officer searched my home, found Falun Dafa books and leaflets exposing the persecution. I was arrested and sentenced me to two years in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. The police officer threatened, "The guards at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp are reincarnated ghosts from hell!" In Masanjia I had to endure intensive brainwashing. There were many consecutive groups, one after the other, who tried to brainwash me. I was forced to get up early and come to the classroom, where collaborators surrounded me and tried to confuse me with distorted ideas. Each day from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., except for meal times, they approached me in groups and tried to brainwash me, yet they could not "reform" me."

"My name is Xu Qingyan. I was recently released from the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. The Mansanjia Forced Labour Camp is just one of the concentration camps where Falun Gong practitioners are being persecuted. I am still alive, although I was near death. I want to solemnly declare here that I am innocent, and not guilty of any charges levelled against me. I have been persecuted for my beliefs. I'd like to tell everyone all that I experienced in the forced labour camp during the past year."

"I witnessed the murder of practitioner Mr. Wu Baowang at the hands of guards in the Shuangcheng Detention Centre. I was arrested and sent to the Shuangcheng City Detention Centre, Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. Wu Baowang was also detained there. In fact, there was only one cell between his and mine. His cell number was 6 and mine was 8. On May 15, 2002, I heard continuous, heart-breaking screams coming from Wu Baowang's cell. At the beginning the sound was loud, but later it became weaker and weaker. I heard him say, "You are doing this to kill me! You don't want me to live!" Later, it was completely quiet."

"My name is Nie Yingchao. I am a 10th grade student. I used to be in the class of Literature and Arts at the Yinan County 2nd High School in Shandong Province. Near the end of 2004, I was in my 10th grade class, one evening during self-study period, when my teacher who was heavily misguided by the lies and propaganda against Falun Gong, suddenly became furious and flew into a rage. He wanted me to leave school. My teacher then slapped my face once, and announced to the class that nobody was allowed to discuss Falun Gong. Anyone doing so would be subject to expulsion from school. Against my will I was abducted from school by "610 Office" agents and expelled, just because I believe in Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance."

Ms. Li Ying was incarcerated in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. Before her release she wrote a letter to her parents, which said, "While writing this letter I shiver with fear recalling the past three years in prison. I want to tell all my relatives and family about my experiences. I want to tell everybody about those who have committed crimes so that people will know the truth. Just like me, many other practitioners in the prison had been persecuted so seriously that they had difficulty moving around on their legs. Every day my heart felt the tremendous pressure, and my ears were filled with the loud cries of the people around me."

In November 2004, when Ms Song Jinlai was exposing the persecution about Falun Gong, she was arrested and sent to a brainwashing class to be persecuted. At that time, her parents not only had to bear the pain of being separated from their daughter, they also had to tolerate harassment and threats from the local authorities. Her father, who had lived in fear and anxiety, fell ill. He finally passed away in grief and despair, leaving his wife and daughter behind.

I resisted the unjust persecution by not signing my name on the "repentance statement". Additionally, I went on hunger strike to protest the persecution. A group of inmates who were led by the guard slapped my face and beat my chest with their fists. A few inmates surrounded me and kicked me. They forced my head into the toilet; and, after three times of being held under, my will was broken and I gave up my hunger strike. Now, I really have experienced how brutal this persecution is and why this persecution has cast such a huge shadow of terror. It has taken months for me to gradually eliminate the terror I have experienced.

"I used to be a doctor. In early 1994, a policeman who was carrying a gun illegally opened fire when he was arguing with someone over personal issues. The bullet hit my spinal column, and I became paralysed from the chest down. I've been confined to a wheelchair since that day 11 years ago. I started to practise Falun Gong in May 1999. Very soon after that, miracles happened. My legs stopped suffering from oedema and atrophy. In March 2004, over twenty policemen arrested me and took me to the detention centre. At the detention centre, I followed the legal procedures and requested a lawyer and an administrative re-examination of my case. Both of my requests were turned down. On March 14, 2005, the Procuratorate sent someone to my home and wanted to take me, even though I could not walk or take care of myself, to the court for sentencing."

The authorities forcibly took me to the Family Planning Office in Guangdong Province. There, an ultrasound was done, and I was then sent to the operating table. I held onto the door and didn't want to enter the operating room. Five or six men put me up on the operating table and didn't leave until two women held me down. I was so scared! After the surgery, they took me back to the police station. The personnel there didn't want to keep me, so they sent me home. I lay down on the bed with a blank mind. These evil people deprived a two-month-old life of its opportunity to live!

On 5th April 2005, the Falun Gong Information Centre received an SOS letter from Liu Fang. She wrote in her letter that her mother, Ms. Liu Yawen was arrested on Thursday 31st March by the local police in Beijing when distributing Falun Gong Video-CDs and her whereabouts is unknown. Afterwards, the street committee Members and the local police came and searched Liu’s home together. Because Ms Liu Yawen lives by herself, Liu Fang could only find out about her mother’s welfare through friends and family, but they have been unsuccessful and couldn’t get through the information blockade.

The persecution of Jiang Renzheng and Guo Rui when they were back in China has fully exposed the evil nature of the CCP: It wants to persecute everyone who believes in Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance and destroy their bodies and minds. What it has done is against human nature and is opposed by kind people all over the world. We are calling on the German Government, the European Parliament, the Human Rights Commission of the United Nations and those who are pursuing peace and justice to defend the basic human rights of Jiang Renzheng and his wife and put an end to this inhuman persecution.

Ms. Ni Shuqin from Liaoning Province was arrested and detained by the police several times because she refused to renounce her belief in Falun Dafa. In 2002, she was sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment. She was tortured to the point of being critically ill and extremely weak in Dabei Prison of Shenyang. On October 16, 2003, Ms. Ni was released on bail for medical treatment. She died on March 13, 2005. During those days of persecution, Liu Guofu, the head of the Hekanzi Town Police Station, extorted 1,000 yuan from Ni Shuqin. When she was in Dabei Prison, Ms. Ni's family members had been illegally fined over 10,000 yuan by the prison.

Zhang Xiaotong was from Siping City, Jilin Province and born in November 1958. She was a piano teacher in the Hainan Provincial Art School. She was kind and talented, especially in music composition. Because she cultivated Falun Dafa, Zhang Xiaotong suffered severe persecution for a long time. She died at age 46, at 6 p.m. on March 10, 2005 in the Hainan People's Hospital. Zhang Xiaotong's husband Song Yuesheng is a sculptor, and he also teaches at the Hainan Provincial Art School. Because he is a Dafa practitioner, he was illegally arrested and sentenced, and is currently still in prison.

"I did not violate the law. Just because I firmly believe in "Truth, Compassion, and Forbearance," and refuse to give up practising Falun Dafa, they tortured me in a detention centre until I was disabled, making me so thin and weak. They did not allow my family to visit me during the first month. I went on hunger strike; then they force-fed me. They used four to five young men to hold down my legs, arms, and head, and they pinched my nose while they poured milk, which was saturated with salt, down my throat. They never cared whether my life was in danger or not."

The young couple, Jiang and Guo, lived overseas for several years and they fully enjoyed the freedom and the goodness of cultivating Falun Gong. However, as soon as they returned to China, they lost all of their basic human rights. Like tens of millions of Falun Gong practitioners and their family members, the couple’s friends and relatives are intimidated and suppressed by the Chinese communist regime. We would like to call on the international society and the extensive kind-hearted people around the world to be concerned about this couple’s situation and put an end to this persecution once and for all so as to help all Falun Gong practitioners regain their freedom.

"In the afternoon of January 30, 2002, police forcibly took me from my work place to the local public security bureau without any excuse or legal procedures. They dragged me to the fourth floor and cuffed both my hands to an iron chair. They then stripped off my clothes, leaving me in only my underwear. They shocked my breasts with electric batons. The electric shocks were too painful to imagine. This policeman threw away the baton, grabbed a one-inch thick iron bar, and beat my legs and hips to the point that my legs were covered with bruises and stains. They tortured me for about two hours."

"I was dismissed from my position as a public official and unlawfully arrested and threatened many times, because I wanted to become a good person. I fainted four times from police beatings, was charged with phony crimes, secretly sentenced to over eight years in prison, and had 20,000 yuan illegally seized from me. I was devastated by the brutal treatment while in prison and developed cirrhosis of the liver. They sent me home when I became critically ill. The persecution has robbed me of everything. They left me with a mortal body full of illnesses related to cirrhosis, and I am at the end of my rope."

Ms. Hong Lixian was a terminal cancer patient. After practising Falun Gong, she regained her health. Even the medical experts who performed her surgery admitted that Falun Gong has an amazing healing effect. However, exactly because of her perseverance in cultivation, she was arrested five times. As a result, her physical condition declined, and she was sent to the hospital wearing foot shackles. Despite the seriousness of her illness, she had to be carried by her husband to the court to receive a sentence of three years in prison. The judge said that the ruling was not from his own will but rather orders from above, because he could do nothing.

Ms. Lou Yan, a determined Falun Gong practitioner from the Tiexi District, Anshan City, Liaoning Province, was detained ten times. She was sent to a mental hospital and forcibly injected with drugs. She was tortured to disability and to the brink of death many times. Later, the perpetrators sent the disabled Ms. Lou to the Liaoning Province Women's Prison (former Dabei Prison) at Shenyang City for a five-year term. Ms. Lou was tortured to the brink of death in the prison. To avoid responsibility in case she died in prison, the prison allowed her to serve the rest of her term outside of prison...

"On July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin's Communist regime banned Falun Gong. I wept deep within my heart because such a wonderful practice was suppressed without any reason. The police often came to our home to harass us. They never let up. My husband could not withstand such continual harassment, and he passed away. My paraplegic son also passed away. Now only my grandson and I remain."

My little daughter, Kaixin, was separated from her mother when she was only three months old. She lost her mother at the age of one and a half. This caused her young mind to be deeply troubled. She cried to her father, "I miss Mum! Others have their mums, but I don't."

"My name is Ms Zhang Shufen. I was unjustly sentenced to 6 years in Harbin Women's Prison in 2002. Here I have experienced suffering and persecution. The prison police are extremely violent. They frequently hang us up by our wrists and place us in solitary confinement for hours and hours on end. Recently, news surfaced that my husband, Shi Zuosheng, is now terribly thin because of the persecution. He cannot work and his life is in great danger. His family members strongly request that he be released."

"I was sent to jail in December 2001. In mid-March 2003, I was hospitalized in the jail due to the tortures I had received there. My body was swollen, painful and numb. I could not move my left hand, and both of my legs could not be straightened. My condition has not improved as of today. Since my release from jail, I am unable to walk smoothly. I am classified as having third degree limb disability by the City Disability Association. I am unable to find a job and get only 100 yuan each month, on which it is difficult to survive."

"I am a Falun Dafa practitioner from Heilongjiang Province. After being brought to court four times, I was sent to Wanjia Forced Labour Camp in January 2002. Wanjia Forced Labour Camp is a hell on earth. More than half of the practitioners detained there suffer brutal torture, such as force-feeding, being hung up, and shocks with an electric baton. Since July 2002, the guards at Wanjia have abused practitioners daily with beatings and torture."

"I am Zhang Jingyan, a practitioner from Heilongjiang Province. The New Year holiday is a good time for the whole family to be together, but because of the persecution, I am forced to live a homeless life even though I have a home, just because I practise Falun Gong and follow "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" in order to be a good person. For the past five years I have been imprisoned and sentenced to jail, my family's property was confiscated, and now I live the life of an itinerant."

"Like thousands of Falun Dafa practitioners, I have endured the last five years of hardship in tremendous adversity, having been abducted several times, illegally detained, and forced to pay extortion totalling more than 6000 yuan. The most severe of these arrests was in April 2002, when I was abducted on the way to my relative's home. The local police department sent me to the "transformation" centre in Wanjia Women's Forced Labour Camp in July 2002. Being in the transformation centre of Wanjia Forced Labour Camp is like going to hell."

"The day after I was detained I went on a hunger strike. On the fourth day of my hunger strike, a policeman ordered inmates to force-feed me. They pushed me onto the floor, stood on my feet, and twisted my hands so that I would be in too much pain to resist. One person pushed my head, while another pinched my nose to suffocate me. Another inmate used a brush (used to clean toilets) to pry open my mouth and then used a bottle to force food into my mouth."

"Having practised Falun Gong for nine years, I was in good health, yet I was thrown into a mental hospital for 3 year and suffered brutal persecution. It cost me, as well as my workplace tens of thousands of Yuan in medical expenses on top of the time lost and pain and suffering. This has worsened my family's already poor financial situation and put us in serious debt."

"Recently, "CCTV" [China Central TV]broadcast a series of fabricated lies and rumours alleging that Falun Gong practitioners are not tortured when they are arrested and detained by the authorities. This is completely untrue and so I hereby document and submit my personal experience of the torture and degradation I experienced when I would not go against my own conscience by giving up the practice of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance;" the practice of Falun Gong."

"In 2002, I was sent to the Heilongjiang Provincial Drug Rehabilitation Forced Labour Camp. Guards gave me a pen and a piece of paper, and ordered me to write a "Repentance Statement" and a letter that attacks Falun Dafa. I firmly refused .They started torturing me in an effort to destroy my will. The guards ordered inmates to beat me. They yanked off my cotton-padded trousers, and pinched and pulled at my inner thighs until the skin was gone. Blood and fluid seeped from my thighs. Then they started pinching my thighs until small pieces of flesh came off."

"After I was abducted and illegally detained at the Anshan Forced Labour Camp, many other Falun Dafa practitioners and I were continuously persecuted both physically and mentally. Prison guard Zhang Zhenyang once said to us, "All the torture methods we use on you have been approved by the Party and the government." The director of the prison, Xu Baoyu, challenged us, "Which one of you wants human rights?" Falun Dafa practitioner Li Peisheng stood up and said, "I want human rights." The prison guards later beat Li for 20 minutes."

"I am currently detained in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp, without any legal procedures. In here I've suffered unspeakable humiliation, abuse, and torture because I've maintained my firm belief in Falun Dafa. The mental pressure and tortures to which practitioners are subjected is beyond what anyone can imagine. The nightmares I've experienced during my detention are imprinted in my mind and continually haunt me."

"On August 11, 1999, the Yantai Daily, a newspaper in Yantai City, Shandong Province, published a report about me. The article was entitled, "Falun Gong is Merciless while the Party Committee is Merciful." There were many parts of the article that were inconsistent with the facts. First, the journalist who wrote the article had never interviewed me. I wonder how he came up with such a report about me."
