"After July 20, 1999 my workplace followed the orders of the "610 Office" and detained me. That was the beginning of a long period of persecution, with the authorities, following the orders of Jiang Zemin with regard to Falun Gong practitioners, attempting to "defame my reputation, ruin me financially and destroy me physically". If it hadn't been for my strong faith in Truthfulness - Compassion - Tolerance, I would never have survived."

"My name is Ms Ren Hongxia, a practitioner from Jilin Province. On October 26, 2004, at around 9 a.m., I was doing my laundry at home when a dozen policemen broke into my house from the second floor window, without a warrant and abducted me to a police station. They tied my legs to the legs of a chair, and my waist to the back of the chair with towels. My hands were tied behind the chair on top of each other. A policeman restrained my head using a towel, and another one stuffed my mouth with a towel. The third one poured the horseradish from a water bottle into my nose. At that time, I felt like I was dying. I can't fully explain the choking, overwhelming sensation that went into my lungs. This went on for 10 hours."

"At 2:00 a.m. on January 31, 2002, Tangyuan County policeman Xu Qing tried to strangle me with a scarf and also hit me about the eyes and temples. I collapsed to the ground when he let me go. My eyes were in such pain that I could hardly breathe."

On January 9, 2001, I travelled to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa in Tiananmen Square. I was arrested. The same night, at 10 pm, I was interrogated and was brutally tortured. The police officer attempted to gag my mouth with a rag for polishing shoes, but failed. The chain came loose and I fell to the ground. He then viciously kicked me.

Ms. Yang Baozhen, 55 years old, was a retired employee of Dabusu Department Store, Qian'an Township, Jilin Province. She was sentenced to a forced labour camp for one year. During her labour camp detention, she showed heart disease symptoms and was released on bail for treatment. Yang was under close surveillance and was harassed after her release. She was forced to leave home and went from place to place to escape further persecution. As a result, Yang suffered greatly physically and mentally and passed away on November the 8th 2004.

Mr. Feng, who was 75 years old, was an official at the bureau level in Tianjin. Previously he had undergone heart bypass surgery before practising Falun Gong and at that time was in poor health. In 1994, his health greatly improved as he began practising Falun Gong. Shortly afterwards, he eliminated all of his illnesses and saved his organisation hundreds of thousands of yuan worth of medical expenses. He died from police harassment and threats for practising Falun Gong. The exact date of his death is not available.

Ms. Huang Bing, 26, was a Falun Gong practitioner from Xudatun Village, Xingtai Town, Pulandian, Dalian City, Liaoning Province. She used to suffer from leukemia, but after she took up the practice of Falun Gong, she completely recovered. She was thrown into Pulandian Detention Center. During her more than one month detention, Ms. Huang was severely tortured. As a result, her nose kept bleeding non-stop. The detention center didn't want to take any responsibility, so they released her. Under the tremendous pressure, Ms. Huang passed away around 9:00 on the night of February the 4th 2004

After Jiang's regime started to persecute Falun Gong on July the 20th 1999, Mr. Chen Jianzhong's workplace and the "6-10 Office" forced him to go through brainwashing many times. On November the 4th 1999, frightened by the intimidation during brainwashing, Chen Jianzhong fell from his chair to the ground. He spit out foam from his mouth and half of his body was paralysed. He was sent to the factory-affiliated hospital for emergency rescue. However, despite the rescue efforts, he died the same night, at the age of 65.

Ms. Zhang Ping is a 35-year-old professional from the former Gansu Provincial Trust Investment Company, Stock Exchange Department. She is suffering from persecution merely because she persists in adhering to the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance" and clarifying the truth of Falun Gong to the government. Ms. Zhang says of her experience in detention, "Only because I shouted, "Falun Dafa is good," police brutally bashed my forehead. My mouth and nose bled profusely and my ears buzzed loudly. Policeman Wei Dong even tied my mouth and my neck with a piece of cloth that was one meter wide for four to five hours, which nearly suffocated me to death."

"Uncle Wang was from my hometown. He was suffering from bone marrow cancer. Doctors considered him terminally ill and sent him home to die. One day a neighbour, a Falun Dafa practitioner, told him miraculous stories of Falun Gong and brought him a book. That day was a turning point in his life. He accepted the principles of Falun Dafa and thus his health and character improved dramatically. When the persecution of Falun Dafa started, my Uncle Wang gave up practising out of fear. His old bad habits and ill health returned, he went to hospital and never came out. My Uncle Wang left us in sadness and sorrow. It was Jiang Zemin who took away his life."

"In September 2002, I was detained in Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp. The superintendent of the labour camp-owned clinic, Wang Jing and others confined me to a room and force-fed me. They cuffed both of my hands together while Wang Jing stepped on my legs and then pried my mouth open as far as it could go with the "mouth opener," almost knocking out my teeth. Wang Jing said, "If you don't eat, we will knock out all your teeth!" "

"My name is Wang Yanqing and I am 37 years old this year. From January 2001 until January 2003 I was unjustly detained in forced labour camps and detention centres, experiencing relentless unimaginable mental and physical tortures, because I practised Falun Dafa and told others about the truth of the practice. My wife, also a practitioner, is presently imprisoned in Shenyang City's Dabei Prison. I have not seen my child for nearly four years. He is living with his aunt. We have been forced to be a scattered family."

"At the end of October 1999, I went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Dafa. When I attempted to practise the Falun Gong exercises outside of the People's Great Hall, I was arrested and sent to the Qianmen Police Station. Because I refused to tell them my name, more than ten police officers tortured me using the "backing up an airplane" torture. It lasted from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m."

"I'm an elderly woman who practises Falun Dafa. Like other practitioners, I once went to Tiananmen Square. As soon as I unfolded a banner, the policemen came over to grab me. They knocked me to the ground and dragged me to a police car. I was sent to a detention centre. Police dragged all the practitioners outside. The temperature in Beijing was -20 degrees Celsius yet they ordered us to remove all our clothes, bend over and submit to the "flying an airplane" torture while we stood on the icy ground with our bare feet."

"From October 3 to October 18, 2000, the head of the Police Department in Yichun City, ordered police and others to brutally torture me several times. One of the tortures involved having hot water poured on my head for four hours until they ran out of hot water. They then beat me with a wooden stick. One time they incessantly beat me for more than six hours. They also whipped me on the back with belts and stabbed me on the neck and back with cactus thorns."

My name is Ms. Liu Yingfu and I am 58 years old. I live in Chongqing City. Because Jiang's faction persecutes Falun Dafa, the local police officers forced me to write a statement guaranteeing that I would not practise Falun Gong and I would turn in my Dafa books. Afterwards, they tried to get me to become a secret agent. Because I refused their demands, they took me to a brainwashing centre. Their persecution of my mother-in-law caused her death. The police officers asked my relatives to monitor me and the harassment never ceased. As a result, I eventually became disabled and unable to take care of myself.

Practitioners Qiao Zhongjin and Zhao Hongli from Jianping County, Liaoning Province, went on hunger strikes to protest the persecution and are now at death's door. Qiao Zhongjin originally weighed over 180 Jin (202 pounds), but is now only about 80 Jin (88 pounds). He may die at any time. Qiao Zhongjin's wife, practitioner Fu Minling, was sent to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp for further persecution.

I am a practitioner from Hong Kong. My mother Zhu Wenxian is also a Falun Gong practitioner. On November 9, 2004, my mother was talking to people about the true situation of Falun Gong in a market in Shanghai when the Shanghai police abducted her. This is not the first time the police have abducted her. She is still being detained.

"On November 22, 1999, my older sister and I went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practise Falun Gong. From then on I was detained in detention centres and a labour camp several times. I experienced the most inhumane and debased torture and persecution that you could ever imagine, including beatings with electric batons, forced-feedings, holding extremely uncomfortable positions for long periods etc. Yet I was able to survive due to my faith in Falun Dafa."

In China, a great number of children have encountered discrimination and threats because their parents practise Falun Gong. Many have lost their parents and other relatives, as well as the opportunity to continue their studies. Some of them have been illegally imprisoned and beaten, some have been forced to become homeless, and some have even been tortured to death.

"In December of 2000, the police arrested me when I went to Beijing to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. Later on, I was sent to Heizuizi Labour Camp. When I refused to recite the rules of the labor camp, one policeman shocked me all over my body with a high voltage electric baton for about 45 minutes. My entire body smelled of burned flesh and the pain was so excruciating that I could hardly bear it! I was sent to a mental hospital where I was injected with unknown drugs into my body. I felt all kinds of pain and experienced horrible visual hallucinations."

On January the 5th 2002, Xiong Wei was arrested whilst distributing leaflets exposing the persecution against Falun Gong. She was then sentenced to two years in a Beijing female forced labour camp till January the 4th 2004. After two years of suffering in a labour camp and nine months of living at home under surveillance, Xiong Wei arrived at Frankfurt airport on September the 28th 2004. The following is a personal account of her two years of suffering.

Ms. Zheng Xueqiong, 65, was a resident of the Zhonghe Street Neighbourhood Community, Longshui Town, Dazu County, Chongqing City. She started practising Falun Gong in the spring of 1997. Falun Gong healed her partial paralysis and she no longer needed to take medicine. Ms. Zheng was sincere, kind, tolerant and generous. A lot of people perceived the greatness of Falun Dafa in her.

Since July 20, 1999--when the persecution of Falun Gong started--until today, I have been living in horror, worry and fear. Because my mother practises Falun Gong, the local government officials forced my parents to divorce. Since then, my mother and I have had a difficult and worrisome life. It was even worse during the time when mother was not at home. Seeing children in other families play with their mums or go shopping together, or hearing other children calling their mums, I could not hold back my tears and just let them run down my face.

The Police and Security Section said, "Mr. Wang Tongchun was followed and then arrested on the way to Beijing because customs agents found pictures of a simulated torture exhibition made to represent conditions he supposedly suffered in a forced labour camp and which were then mailed to individuals outside of China."

“Early in December 2000 I went to Tiananmen Square and shouted my heartfelt wishes to end the persecution. I was badly beaten up and then taken to the Tiananmen Square Police Station. That year I was 23 years old. The head of the police station, Ma Zengyou, humiliated me and indecently assaulted me.”

One night in July of 2001, the police brought several of us Falun Dafa practitioners to the Yuegezhuang Police Station and five to six policemen used cruel and despicable means to try to force us to confess to crimes we had not committed. They handcuffed my hands behind the back of the chair. Then they passed an electric baton through the handcuffs, catching one end of the baton on the arm of the chair, and pressed the other end forcefully, making me cry out in such pain that my voice filled the night sky.

"My name is Fan Xiaoli. I was born on September 12, 1958, and live in Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia. I am a Falun Gong practitioner and have benefitted much from the practice. Because I firmly practise Falun Gong and clarify the truth about the persecution, over the past five years my life has been seriously threatened; I have been humiliated, monitored, and followed, and my telephone was tapped. I have suffered serious mental and financial torment as well as unbelievably horrific physical persecution."

My name is Ping An, and I am a middle school student [in China]. However, I was forced to leave school because my mother is a Falun Dafa practitioner. Since July 20, 1999--when the persecution of Falun Gong started--until today, I have been living in horror, worry and fear. Because my mother practises Falun Gong, the local government officials forced my parents to divorce. Since then, my mother and I have had a difficult and worrisome life. It was even worse during the time when mother was not at home. Seeing children in other families play with their mums or go shopping together, or hearing other children calling their mums, I could not hold back my tears.

On October 25, 1999, I was abducted for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa and tell the government the truth about Falun Dafa. I was taken to Miyun Prison in Beijing City. Police held me down to the ground and put their hand-made handcuffs and shackles on me, weighing forty pounds. The handcuffs and shackles deeply cut into my flesh; my feet were badly mangled. Even so, they did not remove the handcuffs and shackles for six days. Later I was detained in Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp where I was brutally shocked with electric batons for three hours. In the evenings, my body and face ached as if they were burning.

"This is what happened to me because of Jiang Zemin's ruling that, "Killing a practitioner is nothing and will be called as suicide." My story is only one of many. In China, many more have suffered even more severely. Changchun City's Chaoyanggou Forced Labour Camp enforcers alone have the deaths of 18 practitioners on their hands. Many more are still suffering from unbelievably savage torture."

"My name is Zhang Beiqi. I'm a resident of Jilin Province. I am currently held at the Antu Detention Centre. People from Antu Police Department tortured me severely during their interrogations, which caused paralysis in my lower legs. I felt dizzy and extreme pain and couldn't take care of myself. I have to depend on others and have to lie down at the detention centre day and night, and live a life not fit for a human. Therefore, I am struggling every day, more dead than alive. I even received the arrest document from the prosecutor's office while I was in a coma. Now my case is being sent to the court and they are going to sentence me, based on the confession police extorted from me under brutal torture."

These photos show the torture technique "stewed chicken with a bent neck," illustrated by Shengyang City Falun Dafa practitioner Zheng Shoujun, who was subjected to this frightening and painful torture during his imprisonment at the camp. He recounted, "At that time I felt that all my bones really had broken, and the pain reached such an extreme that I felt as if 10,000 knives were stabbing into my body."

"I didn't have a place to live in Guangzhou City and the "610 Office" was after me. I secretly returned to Shandong Province and got my passport. I received my visa through a travel agency and on August 20 I went to Bangkok, Thailand on a travel visa in order to avoid further persecution by persons from the "610 Office." If I return to China, I will be in extreme danger. I urgently need help from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees or other governments and organizations."

"My name is Luo Biqiong. I am thirty-six years old. When I was unjustly detained, police asked me repeatedly whether or not I would continue to practise Falun Gong. I kept quiet so they continued to beat me without stopping. I was four months pregnant at the time. They hit my face, hands, and head and my whole body was cut and bruised, my mouth was filled with blood, my head and my hands were swollen, and both my legs turned purple. Eventually I couldn't stand the torture anymore and wrote a statement giving up Falun Gong. I regreted my action terribly and soon after revoked it. Just because I wrote, "I want to practise Falun Gong," I was subjected to a forced abortion that ended an innocent four-month-old life."

Two police claiming to be responsible for the security in my area also came to visit. One of them kept telling me: Why are you practising Falun Gong? Why not practise something else? While he was talking, he kept searching my household. I realized I would be arrested when I saw that the road we were taking wasn't the way to my office. They took me to the Third Affiliated Hospital (a mental hospital) of Beijing Medical School. I tried to escape, but they guarded all the car doors. Four men (two police, my colleague and my husband) each took hold of my limbs and carried me into the hospital hallway. I struggled to try to free myself. I cried out: "I am a Falun Gong practitioner. I am not a mental patient."

My name is Wang Shuzhen and I used to work in Jilin prison. I started practising Falun Gong in 1994. Having benefitted so much from the practice, I went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on October 1, 2000. I witnessed the Jiang regime's bloody genocide of those that practise "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance." For my appeal, I was sentenced to two years of forced labour and fired from my job. From the detention centre in Beijing to the labour camp in Jilin, fellow practitioners and I endured endless mental and physical abuse.

Li Guangzhen, a model teacher at Zhongxing Elementary School in Machang Village, Jianping County, Liaoning Province died as a result of mistreatment suffered in the persecution on June the 18th 2004. This is a letter she wrote to her fellow practitioners before her death.

Rao Chaoyuan, 40, lives in Guangdong Province. He is the brother of Falun Dafa practitioner Rao Zhuoyuan, who died from being tortured. After being illegally held for over one year, Rao Chaoyuan was sentenced to eight years in prison in January 2003. Right now he is being held at Sihui Prison in Guangdong Province. One of his legs was crippled after been beaten and subjected to other torture leaving him disabled.

"The local head of the "610" office dispatched over 20 policemen to surround and break into my house. When they tried to take me away my four-year-old grandson became afraid and started to cry. My husband pulled my grandson out of the way, while 5 or 6 policemen were dragging me, an elderly woman, like a lifeless body into their car. They took me to the local station and kept my persecution a secret."

I am a 17-year-old high school student preparing to take the entrance exam for college. My dad, Zhang Peiqi, and my mom, Liu Meijun, were abducted and detained at Antu Detention Centre because they refused to give up their belief in Falun Dafa. My mum was abducted on March 13, 2004. The police forcefully sent her to the Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp without notifying her family members. When I asked about the whereabouts of my dad, I heard that he was taken away on March 20, 2004.

"It was noon on July 19, 2000 and I was taking a break at home, wearing shorts and a short-sleeved shirt because of the hot weather. All of a sudden, four or five policemen broke into my home and questioned me as to whether I was still practising Falun Gong. They handcuffed me and ordered me go to the police station with them. My family members tried to reason with them, but the police threatened my family with handcuffs and electric batons. However, they didn't go to the police station; instead, they drove me to a remote forest farm. They hung me from a tree by my handcuffs and kept beating me."

"In May 2003, I was arrested and detained in the Wuhan Detention Centre for distributing materials to clarify the facts about the persecution of Falun Dafa. Later, I was sent to a psychiatric hospital south of Wuhan City in Hubei Province. During this time, I was subjected one of the cruellest tortures--being electro-shocked with needles inserted into my temple. While the electric current was passing through me, my whole body was convulsing with great force. The pain was unbearable. It was like a knife stabbing into my head."

Jiang Yong was very healthy and did not have any illness since he started practicing Falun Dafa. "Died from acute disease?!" Tell me, why is there a black and blue bloody scar on his neck? Why is his whole body black and blue? Why did blood flow from his mouth when his body was turned over? Why was toilet paper stuffed into his anus? Why did you falsely report the time of his death? Why did you change the clothes on his body? Why you are afraid of his family taking photos of his body? Why did you even beat them forcing them to flee so as to prevent ant photos from been taken?

The following is an account in Ms. Dong's own words about her horrifying experience at the Longshan Forced Labour Camp. The regime tries to block this information from reaching governments and people overseas, and even the general Chinese population is unaware of the extent of the persecution because of the controlled media. For this reason, Ms. Dong had some pictures taken of herself to demonstrate the torture methods used on her while incarcerated, which would serve as a record for history. However, the torture that the victim actually suffered cannot fully be appreciated from these photographs.

Mr. Gong Chengxi, 25, was a former undergraduate student in his senior year, majoring in Administration and Management at the Changping College of the Beijing Politics and Law University. He was from Urumqi, Xinjiang Province. He had been an outstanding student at school who excelled both in academics and personal conduct. He was elected the student association president and the class leader. The school expelled him after the persecution started.

"I have never broken any laws, but because I have been practising Falun Gong and persisting in my belief in the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," I was detained illegally, my home was ransacked, and I was sentenced to prison and tortured. I have been living in a nightmare without having done anything wrong. Now I am filing a complaint about the persecution to the related departments. I appeal to your conscience and ask for an investigation so that a judgment in justice can be made."

Falun Dafa practitioner Liu Zichen from Wudongfang, Huolinguole City in Inner Mongolia is 38 years old. He has experienced frequent illegal imprisonment and persecution during the course of the past several years. We do not know if he is alive or dead or what his current condition is. The following are all the details about Liu Zhichen we were able to gather now.

In the two years since I have returned home, the joints in my body have become swollen and painful. I cannot take care of myself. Even so, the police officer who is in charge of our local area and the people from the Xibozi Residential Committee often come to harass me.

The Fushun City Detention Centre is located in Nangou, Fushun City, Liaoning Province. Many Falun Gong practitioners were previously detained there, and were later sent to various prisons after being illegally sentenced. Ms. Meng Yan and Ms. Ji Baozhen were among such practitioners.
