On April 15th, 2008, 610 Officers started arresting Falun Gong practitioners. Practitioner Ms. Li Wei was on a business trip and thus avoided arrest. However, her husband, Yang Haidong, was arrested. Officials from Ms. Li's workplace visited her parents claiming they would guarantee her safety and a normal working environment [if she would return]. After receiving the information, Ms. Li believed that her company officials were sincere, so she returned to work on July 21st. Two 610 Office agents then took her away and admitted her to the Sanshui Brainwashing Centre.

On the morning of July 7th, 2007, Wang Bo's uncle Gai Wufan went out to buy breakfast, but was stopped by local police officer Zhang Xinzheng, who was waiting outside his residence. Zhang Xinzheng called a van, and two police officers arrived to take Gai Wufan away. They said he needed to complete the paperwork for serving a term outside the labour camp, and sent him immediately to Shijiazhuang Forced Labour Camp. The police explained that they were carrying out orders from higher authorities.

Around the new year of 2007, several Dafa practitioners from the Xingtai Dongpang Coal Mine and Neiqiu County were kidnapped by police because of distributing Falun Gong materials. Another practitioner, Xing Youlu, director of Dongpang Coal Mine Region, was kidnapped as well. Xing Youlu was tortured, hand-cuffed and put in shackles. He was then sent to the Second Detention Centre of Xingtai.

On April 12th, 2007, practitioner Mr. Wang Quanlian was kidnapped at midnight from a room in Zhuzhou city by the National Security Team of Shifeng District Police Station, Zhuzhou City. Without any legitimate reason or legal proceedings, he was imprisoned in the Zhuzhou Second Prison. Mr. Wang was once sentenced to three-years imprisonment secretly by the 610 Office. At present, no one outside China knows his current situation. We only know that Mr. Wang's health is very bad. His family members are extremely worried.

Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Ma Jian is the manager of a French PCM Pumping Industry company in their Beijing office, also the general representative of the company in the northern Asian area. In the afternoon of February 28th, Ma Jian was working in Beijing when a dozen policemen rushed into the office. After trying unsuccessfully to take him away for 'investigation', the police beat him and eventually kidnapped him by force.

On February 25th, 2006, the national security agents of Yisuhe Town in Xiangtan County suddenly dispatched over a dozen personnel to practitioner Mr. Liu Heqing's home to confiscate his property. They arrested Mr. Liu, put him into the police vehicle, and sent him to the Xiangtan City Mental Hospital with his feet in shackles. Mr. Liu was injected with drugs that suppress the central nervous system. Afterwards, the doctor discovered that his mental condition was normal, but Mr. Liu was not allowed to be released until after the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) congressional sessions were over.

Before she started to practise Falun Dafa, 74-year-old Ms. Zhang Ping, suffered from 18 different illnesses, heart disease being the most serious one. After she practised Falun Gong, all 18 illnesses disappeared. She was a kind person, and yet 610 Office officiials arrested her and ransacked her home several times. She and her family suffered tremendously. 30 police officers went to Zhang Ping's home in several police cars. They arrested her when she was going downstairs and dragged her into a police car. When Zhang Ping's granddaughter cried and tried to protect her, the police nearly shoved her to the ground. Zhang Ping shouted, "You're kidnapping me!" The police said in a cold voice, "Yes, that's exactly what we are doing!"

Practitioner Ms. Yang Zehui owns a small food shop and treats every customer according to the standards of "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance." She posted the three words at the front of the store on opening day, September 1st, 2006. Local police officers demanded that Ms. Yang remove the three words, which express the essential principles of the practice of Falun Dafa. Ms. Yang Zehui and her family said, "What’s wrong with these three words? We believe in it." Police tore down the three words. Ms. Yang's son tried to reason with them. They pinned her and her son down, handcuffed them, and took them away. The police then detained Ms. Yang.

We are Falun Gong practitioners and friends of Mr. Cao Dong and Mr. Niu Jinping. Cao Dong went missing after he met with the Vice President of the European Parliament, Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott. His family members are terribly worried for his safety. Many of us have had similar experiences. Suddenly, one day our relatives disappeared and no one knew where they were. After a long time, we learned that they were imprisoned somewhere, or perhaps even something worse happened to them.

Falun Dafa practitioner Wang Xiaolun is from Hebei Province. After he was detained in the Gaobeidian Detention Centre for a month, personnel from Gaobeidian National Security Division took him away, on the morning of July 7th, 2006. The day before Wang Xiaolun’s wife went to the detention centre and asked for the release of her husband. Instead, she was arrested.

Zhang Zuobin, 56, was a practitioner from Dalian City, Liaoning Province. He disappeared in March 2002 and has been missing for over four years. When Mr. Zhang's family enquired about him at his workplace, they learned that three women and a man had come to see him at around 10:00 a.m. on the day of his disappearance and asked him to go with them. No one has seen or heard from him since. His family remains extremely worried about him.

My mother and I are permanent residents of Hong Kong. Because my father became paralysed, my mother, Liu Ding, went back to Beijing, and she has been looking after my dad for the past five years. Recently the Chinese Communist Party has deprived her of her freedom and right to look after my critically ill father. On the afternoon of June 6th, 2006, mother took dinner to dad in the hospital as usual. At about 7:30 p.m. she left the hospital. We lost contact with her at that point. It was reported that she is detained in the Public Security Sub-Bureau of Xuanwu District, Beijing City.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Huimin, 53, was arrested at the hospital where she had been caring for her sick father. During her detention, the authorities forced her to stand for long periods of time and allowed her almost no rest or sleep. In September 2005, after Ms. Li had completed her two-year sentence of forced labour, officials arrested her at her workplace. Her whereabouts remain unknown to this day. Ms. Li's husband, Xu Qutian, was released after three years of forced labour in Guangzhou City. His whereabouts also remain unknown.

On April 27th, 2001 police arrested Mr. Chen Xun at home and took him to the Qingbaijiang Detention Centre. He was later sentenced to five years in prison and sent to the Chengdu City Detention Centre Transit Station. He developed symptoms of severe liver and abdominal flukes. Chen Xun was later sent to the Sichuan Yaan Prison where he was brutally tortured. Chen Xun's five-year sentence expired in May 2006, but he was not released. Instead, the 610 Office agents took Chen Xun to the Xinjin Brainwashing Class.

On May 21st, Cao Dong met with Edward McMillan-Scott, Vice-President of the European Parliament, who was in China to investigate first hand the human rights situation there. Cao Dong disappeared shortly after the meeting. He was arrested by the authorities and his whereabouts remain unknown. On May 26th, 2006, six people from the National Security Bureau opened the door of Mr. Cao Dong's home with a master key and arrested practitioner Gao Fengqiang who was staying there and ransacked the property

On May 27th, officers from the Chunhai Police Department arrested my wife as she left home for work. Officers had been waiting outside the building. They broke into my wife's residence and took a computer, two printers, Falun Gong books and leaflets exposing the persecution my wife had made. She was sent to Yaojia Detention Centre.

One of the two Falun Dafa practitioners, Mr. Cao Dong, 36, who met with Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott, Vice President of the European Parliament, on May 21st, 2006 in Beijing, is missing. It is believed he has been arrested by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) regime. Although Cao Dong has been married for many years, the couple has been together for only a few weeks because of the persecution of Falun Gong by the CCP.

After participating in the "Future of China" forum held on May 27th, 2006, in Hong Kong, the vice president of the European Parliament Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott called the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) government to ensure that two Falun Gong practitioners return home safely, as contact was lost right after the meeting in China. One of the Falun Gong practitioners, Mr. Cao Dong, was missing right after their meeting, and it was reported that he had been arrested by the Chinese regime.

My younger brother holds a Master's degree in medicine. He is 30 years old. He has always been a good student. He won several awards in different Olympic Maths and Physics Contests. He published articles in Hong Kong journals. His professor was very proud of him. Many other professors respected him as well. However, because he practises Falun Gong, they persecuted him. He lost his job and had to leave his home. He has yet to return.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Yuan Zheng is about 38 to 39 years old. In September 2001, she was arrested while explaining the true situation of Falun Dafa in public. She was detained at Zhuhai City Detention Centre No. 2. Ms. Yuan did not give her name. Therefore, the guards recorded her as "no name" on the chart. In June 2002, Yuan Zheng was taken to an undisclosed location. No one has heard of her since. I worry deeply about Ms. Yuan Zhen, who disappeared many years ago, since hearing the horrible news concerning the Shenyang Sujiatun secret concentration camp, where they harvested organs from living Falun Gong practitioners and sold them for transplants.

Falun Dafa practitioner Zhou Chuanzhong and his family were forced to live away from their home as a result of the persecution. On the morning of February 25th, 2006, about a dozen vehicles from the Yanjiao Police Department and the 610 Office suddenly surrounded the temporary home of Mr. Zhou. The police arrested Zhou Chuanzhong, Wang Shuhua, and their son. Without presenting any documents, they ransacked the house and confiscated a computer, a copy machine, Falun Dafa books, and other things. It was said that the police officers drove away with several cars full of property.

Around 11:00 a.m. on March 7th, 2006, Beijing police officers in two police cars with over ten policemen to arrest practitioner Ms. Liu Jizhi, who was raped last year in police custody, and her 19-year-old daughter Wei Meiling. After Ms. Liu Jizhi bravely exposed the rape that occurred on November 25th, 2005 in police custody the Chinese Communist regime delayed the trial of policeman He Xuejian, who committed the rape, and tried to sweep the crime under the table. They offered a reward for the arrest of Liu Jizhi.

On September 12th, a dozen officers from the Meihua Street Police Station in Guangzhou City broke into practitioner Shi Lei's home and took him away, saying they wanted to "summon [Shi Lei] and obtain some information." When Shi Lei's wife asked them to present the arrest warrant, the police only flashed a slip of paper that read, "Using x cult to disrupt implementation of the law." When Shi Lei was taken downstairs people heard Shi Lei shouting, "Help! The police are abducting and beating me!"

When Mr. Zheng Hongjun was arrested, he was pushed into the police car barefoot in only his underwear. His sister and brother tried to stop the arrest, but were attacked by the police. His father, in his 60s, was so scared he fell onto a bed, pale faced with terror. Mr. Zheng's 65-year-old mother, who had never had heart problems, developed an irregular heartbeat due to the arrest. Zheng Hongjun's daughter, who has been disabled and bedridden for ten years and cannot speak clearly, was threatened to the point of crying and almost fell onto the floor from her bed. Now Mr. Zheng has been detained at the Longfeng Detention Centre for over 20 days.

Wei Haiwu and his wife Yin Fengqin have suffered brutal persecution for practising Falun Gong, including having their home searched and their phone tapped, detentions with extended terms, illegal fines, brainwashing, threats and other atrocities. In July 2002 Mr. Wei Haiwu was sentenced to two years of forced labour. His wife Yin Fengqin has been sent to the same labour camp twice: once in April 2001 and again in May 2003. On the morning of August 7th, 2005, Wei Haiwu was arrested once again in Baoding City while at work.

Twenty-seven practitioners were arrested and their homes searched. After more than a month, the local media has not said one word about the incident. Arrested practitioners, however, are still detained. Except for a few relatives of practitioners and a few witnesses, most citizens, and even some relatives of the arrested practitioners, do not know of these arrests. Practitioners risk much spreading flyers to expose the illegal persecution, but flyers posted in public places have been quickly damaged by people hired by the government.

On August 9th, 2005, Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Guo Meijie and Mr. Cheng Ming, were arrested by more than 30 policemen from the local police station. They were imprisoned in the Patrols Police Group for four days. Over those four days, the police brutally tortured them. They were seriously beaten, tied to a chair to be shocked with high-voltage electricity, and deprived of sleep for days. The police took turns monitoring them. If their eyes closed even a bit, they were beaten on the head with a post. Many police officers tried to deceive them by saying that they also practised Falun Gong. The officers not only bombarded them with brainwashing information but also harassed and threatened them.

Days before the Fifth Asia-Pacific Cities Summit was to be held in Chongqing, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) "cracked down" on people who might have protested during the event. The CCP regularly monitors and arrests Chinese citizens during important events or sensitive dates. In preparation for the summit, Chongqing Special Steel Company workers who have been laid off without compensation and Falun Gong practitioners, particularly practitioners who have been detained, persecuted and forced into brainwashing sessions, were followed and supervised 24 hours a day.

At the beginning of March, two female Falun Gong practitioners were distributing leaflets exposing the persecution. The surveillance camera caught them. The police followed them and then started large-scale arrests. The police then subjected every arrested Falun Gong practitioner to strappado and many other forms of torture. [Note: The strappado is a form of torture in which a victim is suspended in the air by means of a rope attached to his hands which are tied behind his back.] Those Falun Gong practitioners who suffered this torture lost the ability to look after themselves.

On September 22nd, a group of policemen arrested the 33-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Cui at her workplace.They then went to her home, ransacked it and removed many items of value. The police used Cui's mobile phone to send out short messages: "Cui in trouble. Please come to her home immediately. Details later." Their apparent intention was to lure other practitioners to come over and then arrest them.

Village officials broke into 76-year-old Dafa practitioner, Ms. Guo Fuxiang's house, ransacked it, arrested and brutally beat her. One official smashed a Falun Dafa book hard over her head and she fell unconscious to the floor. Her body was covered with dark purple bruises, and she suffered unbearable pain. After six hours of torture, she was finally released.

On the morning of July 28th 2005, the police followed 36-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Ma Xueqing and arrested her once again on her way to work. Later, they searched her home. Currently Ms. Ma is being detained at the Yaojia Detention Centre in Dalian City. This is the seventh time that Ms. Ma has been arrested and the fourth time her home has been ransacked. Because she has been practising "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" for the past six years, Ma Xueqing has been repeatedly persecuted. The authorities have detained her for a total of 137 days. They searched her office twice and they extorted 7,000 yuan from her.

On August 12th 2005, officials of the "610 Office" abducted 16-year-old Ms Sun Yanpei from her class in high school and confined her in a brainwashing centre just because she practises Falun Gong. Her father has been detained at the Shandong Province Prison while her mother has been forced to live in away from home for the past four years, leaving young Sun Yanpei at home by herself. Because of her illegal abduction, confinement, and attempts to shake her belief, Sun Yanpei is protesting with a hunger strike that has already lasted for several days. She is in dire need of urgent rescue.

Ms. Yang Lijuan is 50 years old. After the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was arrested and held in a detention centre, where she experienced horrific torture because she refused to identify herself. She was exposed to the freezing winter temperatures without a coat, and a police officer tortured her, using an electric baton to shock her all over her body. Fortunately, she was able to walk out of the detention centre. At about 7:00 a.m. on August 24th 2005, four Jilin City police officers broke into Ms. Yang Lijuan's home, confiscated her personal belongings, and took her away. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

According to the reports that we have received so far, many practitioners have said that in the closed brainwashing sessions the police beat, cursed and threatened them, and deprived them of sleep. The police also isolated them from the outside world, not permitting anyone to visit. They use all kinds of torture methods to persecute them. For over ten days, more than 10 Dafa practitioners have been protesting their treatment by conducting a hunger strike. In response to this protest the police have started to torture them by force-feeding them.

My name is Wang Xiaoyang and I am a Chinese student studying in Switzerland. I have three close relatives in China: my eighty-four-year old grandmother, my sixty-year old father who has not been well, and my fifty-four-year old mother. My mother is a Falun Gong practitioner and is the centre of the family, who provides both financial and spiritual support. They are ordinary law-abiding citizens whose only desire is to live a peaceful life.

Ms. Ma Lianxiao, a 59-year-old employee of the Liaoning Province Construction Academy of Science, benefited physically and mentally from practising Falun Gong. She was arrested in July 2003 and sentenced to eight years in prison. She was released only when she was close to death due to torture. After being subjected to torture several times, she was severely injured. She often felt lightheaded, her entire body trembled, and she could not walk steadily. In March, she was again arrested and taken to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. Shortly afterwards it was discovered that she was no longer in Masanjia. When concerned people made inquiries, Masanjia authorities told them, "She was sent home already." Everyone looked for her everywhere, but no one could not locate her. Ms. Ma Lianxiao's whereabouts remain unknown.

At around 8:20 p.m. on June 9, 2005, over twenty people from the Public Security Bureau arrived in three police vans to Shi Sanchun's home. Wearing plain clothes and with police batons in hand, they broke into his home. Seven to eight police officers cornered Shi Sanchun and beat him. Shi shouted, "Why you are you arresting me?" Shi Sanchun was suffocating. His face became pale and he could not speak. His hands were twisted behind his back. The police ruthlessly kicked him. He was only wearing shorts at the time. He sustained injuries and was bleeding all over. At that point a group of vicious thugs still forcefully dragged him into their van. All five of his family members were injured during the arrest.

At midnight on May 23, 2005, officials from the "610 Office" of Meizhou City, Guangdong Province broke into the home of practitioner Mr. Zeng Qinglin (who is over sixty years old). They ransacked his home and abducted him and his wife. Recently "610 Office" officials and police arrested many more practitioners. One time police went to a practitioner's home and asked him if Falun Dafa is good or not. If the answer was no, he would be released. Otherwise, he would be taken to a brainwashing class.

Ms. Zhao Lixuan is 34 years old from Shenyang City. The police sent her to the "Legal Training Class" in Longshan Forced Labour Camp, Shenyang City, even though she was still breast-feeding her son. Due to the torture, Zhao Lixuan became extremely frail. With the promise of her family members to watch her closely, she was released in mid-September 2000. On the afternoon of October 19, her mother was talking with neighbours. When her mother turned around, she could not find Zhao Lixuan. Ms. Zhao's whereabouts are still unknown.

On May 14, 2005, Yinchuan City Police Department members held an exhibition to slander Falun Dafa. Many practitioners who had learned about the propaganda arrived at the exhibition. Plainclothes police used the phony excuse of "someone reported you" to forcibly check practitioner Ms. Zhang Wenjuan's bag, and arrested her and another practitioner. Then, the police searched Ms. Zhang's home and took away many leaflets exposing the persecution and Video CDs of The Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party.

Peter Valk, a 28-year-old Dutch man from Woerden, was kidnapped from his hotel room by 15 Chinese secret agents in the night of the 24th to the 25th of May. He was forced into a car with his head between his knees under a blanket and taken to the local ‘6-10 Office’. After two and a half days of detention, he was put on a plane to Thailand on the 28th of May and told he is prohibited from entering China for the next five years. The only reason for his arrest is that Peter practises Falun Gong, a meditation practice for mind and body.

In April 2002, "610 Office" officials in Jiamusi City came up with a sinister plan to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. Five of them ended up arresting a group of practitioners, including an elderly lady of 80 and a child of just 2 years old. The child was panic-stricken when he saw so many policemen shouting demands at his grandmother. He hugged his grandmother's neck and buried his head deeply, not daring to look up again. The policemen struggled to prise the child away from his grandmother and eventually they were separated, with the poor child howling and crying.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yu Chunhua, 50, was resident in Shandong Province. In September 2000 she walked for 19 days to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. When she reached Beijing, she was forcibly taken back to her hometown by the police and unjustly detained for two weeks. She was then released. She was again arrested on her way to Beijing to appeal shortly after and viciously tortured. On her third attempt to appeal she left home on January 17, 2001, and to this day she has not returned, and her whereabouts are unknown.

On 5th April 2005, the Falun Gong Information Centre received an SOS letter from Liu Fang. She wrote in her letter that her mother, Ms. Liu Yawen was arrested on Thursday 31st March by the local police in Beijing when distributing Falun Gong Video-CDs and her whereabouts is unknown. Afterwards, the street committee Members and the local police came and searched Liu’s home together. Because Ms Liu Yawen lives by herself, Liu Fang could only find out about her mother’s welfare through friends and family, but they have been unsuccessful and couldn’t get through the information blockade.

On November 19, 2004, about a dozen people barged into the home of Ms Zhao Fengxian, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Hebei Province. Police officers took away 2 computers, 3 mobile phones, as well as 3,600 yuan in cash. They handcuffed Ms. Zhao and her daughter, her younger son and his fiancee and forced them into a van, not giving them time to put on something proper. The police also imposed a fine of 10,000 yuan on her son's workplace for having employed someone that was involved with Falun Gong.
