Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Shao Changhua and Ms. Zhang Guilan were arrested in 2004. They were detained at the Dandong Police Station and Shenyang City Women's Prison in Liaoning Province. They both suffered from brutal persecution, and Ms. Shao Changhua was subjected to sleep deprivation for over 20 days. In December 2005, police locked Shao Changhua into a room on the third floor. Prisoners forcibly took off her clothes, covered up her mouth and started to brutally beat her. She suffered multiple broken ribs as a result of the brutal beating.

Falun Gong practitioner Lin Guizhi has been detained and persecuted at the Shenyang Women's Prison for over 5 years. Her family members went to see her in the prison recently and found that she was very weak. She fainted right in front of them. She suffered from a blood clot in her brain and lost consciousness 6 or 7 times a day. In November 2008, prison officials notified her family that Ms. Lin was in serious condition yet they still refused to release her. Team leader Zhang Lei said, "If she doesn't give up her belief in Falun Gong or write a guarantee statement to give it up, she will not be released on bail for medical treatment even if she dies in prison." Currently the prison is trying to "transform" Ms. Lin with coercion and are refusing to release her.

Since April 20th, 2009, Mr. Yin Xunzhen, 60, has endured all kinds of inhumane torture during his 6-month detention. Mr. Yin's health has deteriorated greatly during his detention. His hair turned grey, and his face became pinched. He shook whenever he moved and his speech became very faint and weak. Mr. Yin became disoriented and also became very thin. His family did not recognise him when they visited him in the detention centre. Mr. Yin is now in grave physical condition and suffering tremendously.

Fifty-four-year-old Ms. Liu Yanqin lives in Fushun City area, Liaoning Province. Because of her firm belief in Falun Gong, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials frequently harassed her. They arrested her and sentenced her to forced labour several times. Ms. Liu Yanqin was brutally tortured while imprisoned. In July 2008, police officers arrested Ms. Liu Yanqin under the pretext of security for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. They tortured her brutally by means of forcing her to sit on a "tiger bench," force-feeding her with wine, inserting lit cigarettes into her nostril, and hanging her up to beat her. After they tortured her for two days and one night, Ms. Liu Yanqin's hands were disabled. She is now detained in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp.

Prior to the Olympic Games last year, officials from Hebei Province arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Zhenxing. They also ransacked his home and personal property. Mr. Li was detained in the Xiantai Police Station and later transferred to the Mancheng County Detention Centre. He was subjected to one year and three months of forced labour. He was brutally beaten and shocked with four electric batons, and handcuffed to water pipes for seven days and nights.

Ms. Yang Manye is from Shanghai. On October 22nd, 2009, people from the Putuo Domestic Security Division and 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) deceived Ms. Yang, saying that they needed to talk to her. In fact, they arrested and took her to a brainwashing centre. So far, her family has not received any written notification about her arrest. This is the fourth time she has been arrested for practising Falun Gong. In 2001 Ms. Yang was jailed in the Songjiang Women's Prison in Shanghai and the authorities extended her term by nine months. When she was in prison, she was forced to do physical work for long hours. Because of this she was very weak and fell.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Pi Changfu and his wife were arrested on October 31st, 2009, by more than 20 police officers. The police ransacked their home and confiscated Falun Gong books and valuable items. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, Mr. Pi and his wife have often been harassed. Mr. Pi was held at a detention centre for 7 days on one occasion and was forced to pay 10,000 yuan for bail. He left home and became homeless in June 2007 for over six months.

Practitioner Mr. Ge Kun was forced out of school, arrested, and detained for one year and three months. Finally, on September 18th, 2009, Mr. Ge was "tried" by the court of Hanting District in Weifang City. The court imposed a most severe nine year prison sentence on Mr. Ge who is just in his 20s. The prime of his life has been snatched by a vicious Chinese Communist Party (CCP) system. In July 2008 at Weifang Detention Centre, Mr. Ge Kun was tied to a "cross" formed from steel pipes. His arms were out-stretched and legs bound tightly using leather belts. Mr. Ge was left to endure such extremely painful circumstances for six days, during which he lost consciousness many times.

Mr. Wang Gang was arrested and detained in 2003 because he practised Falun Gong. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2004. On May 19th, 2005, they locked Mr. Wang in solitary confinement for 10 days. He was carried in on a bed board with three metal rods welded to the top, two shackles on his feet, and a big belt crossed-tied on his waist. Guards kicked him brutally. In May 2005, a doctor found that that the bone, muscles, and vessels in his right leg were all dead. Warden Gao Ying ordered the amputation of his right leg. Only three inches of his right leg remained. It was not until October 14th, 2009, when he was diagnosed with late-stage cancer in his lymph nodes, that the prison finally released him. Mr. Wang died on October 31st.

On October 23rd, practitioners Ms. Li Jie and Ms. Sun Yuqin were imprisoned in the notorious Masanjia labour camp in Shenyang city after they were caught by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. Their daughters were not allowed to appeal on their behalf. They then went to appeal office of the Dandong public security bureau. The director told them, "Li Jie has been sent to a forced labour camp for one and a half years, Sun Yuqin for one year."

Mr. Dong Jiahe is a Falun Gong practitioner from Sichuan Province. Because of his firm belief in Falun Gong, he was sentenced to forced labour twice and detained for a total of four years. In 2002 he was arrested and he recounts: "Police used a plastic bag to cover my head and fastened it tightly around my neck. I almost suffocated. They handcuffed me to a metal window. One policeman beat me using a wooden stick while other officers beat and brutally kicked me. "What's your name? Where are you from? Where did you get the Falun Gong materials?" I only replied, "Falun Gong is good!" Hearing this, they beat me more violently. When I fainted, they poured cold water on me, trying to wake me up. Later, they continued beating me until I fainted again."

On November 1st, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Chuang Jing's daughter, Ms. Ma Xiaoliang took her elderly, blind grandmother to the Shuiyuanshan morning market. The 80-something year old grandmother was carrying a transparent, plastic envelope with an open letter inside. On the open letter was the word "injustice." There were also pictures of her son, Ma Xuejun, who appeared to be very sick and frail, due to the torture inflicted upon him because he practises Falun Gong. The grandmother told them that her daughter-in-law was arrested by police and had been detained in a forced labour camp. She also said that her son was in the labour camp, persecuted and tortured nearly to death. He is now paralysed.

During the past ten years of persecution, Mr. Li Yunbiao has never had one day of peace in his life, as his days were filled with imprisonment, cruel beatings, living away from home, and sickness. Since the start of the persecution in 1999, Mr. Li was detained several times. In August 2005, he was sentenced to eight years in Bei'an City Prison. Mr. Li was forced to be under strict control and to do slave labour. The food was extremely bad, and with the torture he became as thin as a skeleton. He could not endure such inhuman mistreatment any longer and went on a hunger strike to protest again. He never gave in despite guards cruelly force-feeding him. In October 2006, he was taken to the Bei'an Prison Hospital. He was very weak and died on October 18th, 2009.

When Ms. Cao Shuangmei went to Jiexiu City to pass out Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution in the summer of 2003, she was arrested, her home was ransacked, and she was detained. After going on a hunger strike for seven days to protest her imprisonment, the police released her. One month later, the police arrested Ms. Cao again, without cause, and severely tortured her. In January 2008, police arrested Ms. Cao at home. A warden at Shanxi Province Women's Prison, encouraged inmates to brutally beat Ms. Cao in her cell, eventually causing her untimely death in July 2009. The prison authorities lied to her family, saying that she had died due to a sudden heart attack.

On June 4th, 2009, practitioner Mr. Zhang Qi from Shanghai City was arrested by police. He has been on a hunger strike for more than 150 days at the Xuhui Area Detention Centre to protest the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecution of himself and his family. While he became very weak due to the persecution, he persisted in doing the Falun Gong exercises at the detention centre. The CCP authorities refused to provide medical treatment for Mr. Zhang, and instead they administered brutal force-feedings on him in the detention centre's hostile environment.

On September 29th, 2009, the Hongta District Court sentenced practitioner Ms. Deng Zhixu to five years in prison. Since 2000 when Ms. Deng went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practise Falun Gong she has been repeatedly arrested and persecuted. In June 2009, police arrested and sent her to the Jiulongchi Detention Centre. Ms. Deng went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, and was subjected to brutal forced-feeding. To rescue her, her family sold their house to be able to afford a lawyer. The lawyer, after learning that the case was related to Falun Gong, told the family that a special meeting was organised to convey the message from top authorities that all lawyers are prohibited from defending Falun Gong practitioners.

Ms. Li Xiuzhen was arrested at the entrance of the building where she rented an apartment by agents from the Anqiu City State Security Bureau and the local police on June 13th, 2009. Ms. Li's whereabouts remained unknown until a month later, when her family found out that she was being held at the Anqiu City Detention Centre. She refused to give up her belief in Falun Gong and held a hunger strike to protest the persecution, but she was brutally force-fed. Later she was taken to a brainwashing session at the Anqiu City Party School. She was later taken to a brainwashing session organised just for her and was brutally beaten. Ms. Li finally died as a result of persecution in October.

Falun Gong practitioner Lu Xueqin has repeatedly been persecuted by officers from the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), police stations, and brainwashing centres. Her most recent ordeal began in January 2008, when the Qingdao City 610 Office initiated an operation called "Case of 13 People" to target local Falun Gong practitioners. The police arrested and interrogated her, using torture to force her to confess that she was a "key player," which Ms. Lu resolutely denied. She was once not allowed to sleep for nine straight days, which resulted in her fainting several times. Her health declined rapidly but the police kept her from receiving medical treatment. As a result, she became paralysed from the waist down.

Sisters Ms. Tang Wenyan and Ms. Tang Wenjuan are Falun Gong practitioners from Pingshan County in Hebei Province. They were arrested about five years ago for telling people about the persecution of Falun Gong. They have suffered forced brainwashing and were subjected to forced labour. Their family members were also implicated and persecuted.

Wu Keli, 61, and Yuan Wenxin, 57, husband and wife and both Falun Gong practitioners, have been imprisoned and tortured. Ms. Yuan has been imprisoned twice in a forced labour camp, and Mr. Wu was given a jail term in 2003 after being tortured. Ms. Yuan says: "My mother has three daughters. She has seen all of us endure forced labour. Her son-in-law and youngest grandson were given 5 and 4-year jail terms. Her eldest grandson was held in the Fushun City Brainwashing Centre in Liaoning Province, and her granddaughter was forced to leave home and become destitute. The cruel persecution and heavy mental blows caused her death even though she had always been strong and healthy. She was unable to see her son-in-law before she died on December 31st, 2006."

On October 20th, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Li, 38, was arrested and sent to Gaomi City Detention Centre. On October 28th, when Ms. Wang's family brought some clothes for her, they were suddenly told that she had already died of a stroke. Her family saw that her body was covered with wounds. The source of information reported that Ms. Wang refused to answer any questions during interrogations, and the police beat her to death.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun was taken to Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp on October 26th, 2009. She is now close to death. She has been arrested, detained, sentenced to forced labour, and tortured at least 12 times. In 2002, a police officer slapped her and asked which fellow practitioners she knew. Ms. Sun refused to tell them anything. He then used an electric baton to shock her deep in between her lower ribs. He changed to another baton with a higher voltage and started to shock the tips of her toes and up her whole body twice. Then the officer targeted her eyes with the electric baton. She felt as if her eyes were about to fall out, and she could hardly see. Ms. Sun almost died.

Mr. Zhang Chunqiu, 46, a practitioner in Yiyang City, Hunan Province, has been persecuted and undergone all sorts of torture over the past eight years. In Hunan Province First Jail, the guards forced Mr. Zhang to get up at 4:00 a.m. to begin working and not let him rest until 11:00 p.m. Mr. Zhang firmly refused. The squadron leader hung Mr. Zhang up with his hands tied behind his back, and then they hung a 300 pound wooden block on his neck by a thin steel wire. Painted on the block are the words: "For being defiant to the police and refusing to change." This is the famous torture method called "rather die" that was widely used in the past in Chinese Communist Party (CCP) prisons.

In June 2009,Ms. Yan Baozhen was reported to the police while she was distributing Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution and was sent to Sanshui Forced Labour Camp for one year and three months of forced labour without any legal procedures. When Ms. Yan's husband and children arrived at the camp on October 18th, they could not even recognise her. After one month there, her face had become dark, her mind was not clear and her blood pressure was at 180mmHg. She weighed only 120kg, down from 150kg. Ms. Yan's family demanded her immediate release from the forced labour camp for medical treatment, but the guards refused.

Since he started practising Falun Gong in 1996, Mr. Yin Siron has followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and has benefited enormously. Since the persecution began on July 1999, he has been persecuted numerous times. He was forced to leave his home and became homeless in March 2000. He was arrested on a bus in December 2000, and sentenced to three years in a labour camp. He has suffered all kinds of torture and abuse while in Xinhua Forced Labour Camp. He was arrested again on July 31st 2009 and police sent him to Xishanping Forced Labour Camp. In order to protest the persecution, 50-year-old Yin Sirong started a hunger strike.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Huang Lizhong died on October 25th, 2009, after being ruthlessly persecuted in Panjin Prison for over a year. The prison authorities and the prosecutor from Panjin City refused an autopsy request by Mr. Huang's family to reveal the true cause of his death. Mr. Huang was 47 years old when on February 25th, 2008 he was arrested at his home and sentenced to nine years in prison by the Chinese Communist authorities. In September, he was sent to Panjin Prison. When his family went to visit him on October 20th he had lost so much weight that his bones were protruding from his body. He was shaking, looked to be very weak, and had difficulty talking.

On October 28th, 2009, a man whose last name is Huang, along with two men and a woman from the Henan 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), broke into Ms. Fan Weihuang's house and arrested her. During 2004 and 2007, Ms. Fan Weihuang was tortured by the Guan City Public Security Bureau, and was later persecuted in Xinxiang Women's Prison. She was forced to perform labour in prison, and as a result her fingers became gnarled and her nails deteriorated.

Zhang Lirong has practised Falun Gong for 13 years. Since then, her stomach ailments, headaches, and postpartum diseases were all cured without medication. She also became tolerant and friendly. She often gave help to friends in difficult situations without asking for anything in return. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong, she firmly upheld her beliefs, and was sentenced to "re-education through labour" twice. She was persecuted in the Longshan and Masanjia Labour Camps in Shenyang for a total of five years. On July 13th, 2009, Zhang Lirong was arrested in her home by police under the charge of "promoting Falun Gong."

On September 21st, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Ma Hongwe was arrested at home and police detained him in the Dezhou City Detention Centre, where he was brutally tortured. By October 7th, Mr. Ma's whole body was swollen. The detention centre authorities rushed him to the Dezhou City People's Hospital for emergency treatment. The Dezhou City Domestic Security Division Chief Zhang Xikun quickly notified Mr. Ma's family and forced them to sign forms, and Mr. Ma was released. The emergency rescue effort failed, and Mr. Ma died on November 5th.

On August 19th, 2009, the 610 Office chief led a dozen men to Ms. Li Juhua's home, took her away, and detained her for almost fifty days. For her faith in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, Li Juhua has suffered countless incidents of persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In the past ten years, she has been detained twice, sentenced to imprisonment in a labour camp three times, and lost her freedom for a total of four years. Her home was broken into twice by the CCP and her family has endured harassment and numerous threats.

On October 7th, 2009, a kind 76-year-old woman had a stroke and died in Sankeshu Village, Liaoning Province. She missed and worried about her daughter-in-law, Ms. Wang Yuping, who was taken to a forced labour camp six days later. Ms. Wang was sentenced to two years of forced labour in 2000 for going to Beijing to speak out for justice for Falun Gong. She has now been arrested again, which broke her mother-in-law's heart.

Masanjia Forced Labour Camp is the provincial-level labour camp in Liaoning Province. The degree of its evilness is beyond description. The horrors in that camp are also beyond the imagination of anyone who has not personally experienced them. Ma Yaozong, who is disabled and has to use crutches, had to harvest wheat. Mr. Li Changxi's leg was badly injured from a car accident and he was in excruciating pain, yet he had to harvest wheat and perform other kinds of hard labour. The guards did not provide medical treatment. Finally, due to an acute infection, he was taken to a hospital, as the guards did not want to accept responsibility for his health. Everyone had to work and only death could release one from hard labour .

My father, Yi Sirong, is a Falun Gong practitioner. Mother and I missed father during his month-long detention. Many relatives and friends also cared about father's well-being. Mother rushed about exhausted between Chendu City and Wanzhou District to rescue father, and many fellow practitioners also made great efforts to help. In December 2000, the police arrested father again and subjected him to three years of forced labour. We barely recognised him when he returned. Our strong father had become a walking corpse. He looked so weak, as if a gust of wind would blow him over. On July 31st, 2009, Wanzhou District Baiyan Police Station agents arrested father and held him in the Wanzhou Detention Centre. Mother wasn't informed until a week later that my father was imprisoned, but we still didn't know why and how father was arrested.

Ms. Liu Ronghua is a 45-year-old Falun Gong practitioner and a lecturer at Dalian Fisheries School. She had an article published in the Chinese Encyclopaedia. In April 2001, police arrested Ms. Liu because she practises Falun Gong and sent her to a forced labour camp in July of that year for a one-year term. Li Yuanpeng, the secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) at the school, dismissed Ms. Liu from her job and Ms. Liu's husband divorced her under pressure from the authorities. On October 21st, 2009, the Committee for "Re-education" Through Forced Labour of Dalian City collaborated with the Qingniwaqiao Police Station of Dalian Public Security Bureau to send Ms. Liu Ronghua to a forced labour camp for a two-year term.

On September 14th, 2009, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel from the Caishan Town Government and police station, under direction of the Huangmei National Security Division, followed and arrested Mr. Guo Yanbing. This was the sixth arrest of Guo Yanbing. On September 16th, Guo Yanbing's mother and sister went to the Caishan Police Station to determine Guo's whereabouts, and told officials that they wanted to bring Mr. Guo some clothes. The deputy director slapped Mr. Guo's mother on the left side of her face, which made her dizzy; she could not even stand. Mr. Guo was previously arrested and taken to the Shayang Forced Labour Camp twice, and sentenced to three years of forced labour.

On October 27th, 2009, Liao Xiaohong, 37, and Shi Jiaoyu, 38, a Falun Gong practitioner couple were sent to the Beihu District Court in Chenzhou City. They have an eight-year-old daughter. In the ten years of persecution of Falun Gong in China, the couple has spent very little time together or with their daughter because they have been arrested, detained, or imprisoned at forced labour camps many times. Their daughter has been raised mainly by relatives.

In 2005, at the Nan County police station in Yiyang City, Hunan Province, the police laced Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Shi Yuesheng's food and tea with a drug, then coaxed him to consume them with the intent of obtaining a statement from him. Mr. Shi Yuesheng experienced some hallucinations. Under the effects of the medicine, he began to feel very fearful. He wanted to say something, but he could only utter some sounds with the tones being totally changed. The drug inflamed his nerves and caused internal pain throughout his body. He felt like every part of his body was being bitten by something. This is another example of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) using drugs to persecute Falun Gong practitioners.

On September 19th, 2007, three-months pregnant Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gao Yumin was arrested by the National Security Team and was forced to have an abortion. She lost of lot of blood and her life was in danger. Her family spent over ten thousand yuan to save her life. On December 15th, 2008, Fujin City police broke into Ms. Gao Yumin's home, arrested and sent her to Xigemu Forced Labour Camp in Jiamusi City. The police told Ms. Gao Yumin that she had not finished her forced labour term in 2007 and there was still a few months left. This arrest was treated as an extension of a previous case and so there was no need to go through interrogation. However, after arriving at the forced labour camp, the police at the forced labour camp told Ms. Gao Yumin that the Fujin Police Station had sentenced her to two additional years.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gu Xuemin is almost 70 years old. Because she was a responsible, hard worker; she was honoured as a model worker every year for several decades. She has a big pile of award certificates. After the persecution of Falun Gong began, she remained steadfast in her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and she has been constantly harassed by the Chinese Communist regime. There have been many times that she was followed, arrested, held in a detention centre, and sentenced to jail. Her husband was frightened many times and became very ill as the result. He is now comatose.

On October 18th, 2009, the court of Hanting District in Weifang City, Shandong Province, tried 54-year- old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Cao Junfeng. She was sentenced to a nine-year term just for following Truth-Compassion-Forbearance. As there is a 10-day appeal period, Ms. Cao Junfeng was detained in the Weifang City Detention Centre until October 28th, 2009. Ms. Cao has been imprisoned for one year and three months, since July 9th, 2008. The guards at the detention centre cruelly tortured her and her health deteriorated within one month after her arrest. She vomited often and there was blood in her stool. Ms. Cao's family members were prevented from visiting her.

Police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wei Guanghua and sentenced him to nine years imprisonment. Mr. Wei has been persecuted for over six years in prison and his life is in danger. He is nearly 6 foot tall, and weighs less than 90 lbs. He started a hunger strike to protest his persecution and it has lasted for fifteen months up to now. He suffers brutal force feeding five to six time each day during the hunger strike.

Ms. Jiang Fuxiang, 60, began practising Falun Gong in 1995. Since then, her diseases were cured, and her mental health improved. However, in the last ten years, because of the persecution against Falun Gong, her home was raided twice, she was detained and arrested three times, sent to a labour camp three times, and detained for a total of four years. Her son was implicated. Her husband died from the anger and sorrow.

In September 2008, police raided Mr. Lu Yunlai's home and arrested him. He was imprisoned in the Matou Detention Centre. After one year of forced labour he was transferred to the Baimiao Forced Labour Camp in November for further persecution. In June 2009, Mr. Lu Yunlai had become emaciated from torture. He was released for medical treatment after being diagnosed with late stage cancer. As of now, Mr. Lu Yunlai is unconscious and unable to take care of himself. He is incontinent and near death.

Mr. Luo Guolong, a practitioner around 60 years old, was arrested by police on October 20th. Currently he is jailed at Shenbei Xinqu Detention Centre and is being persecuted there. This is the fourth time that Mr. Luo Guolong has been arrested and persecuted. In 2007, Mr. Luo Guolong went to a village and spoke to people about the persecution. He was arrested and the police violently beat him repeatedly using electric batons. When they saw that the electric batons could not "transform" Mr. Luo, they instead used a pair of handcuffs, that weighed over 33 pounds, to handcuff him. Eventually, Mr. Luo was sentenced to one and a half years in Shenxin Forced Labour Camp, where he was forced to do hard labour every day.

Police wanted to enter to Ms. Hou Yanqun's home at around 10:00 p.m. on August 26th, 2009. Ms. Hou however, rejected their request nut the policemen did not listen to her and kept kicking her door. Hou Yanqun's 16-year-old daughter heard the sound of the police kicking the door, and opened the door. The police immediately sprayed something in her face. The girl screamed with pain, "My eyes hurt. What did you spray on my face?" At this moment, Hou Yangqun's 8-year-old son woke up and came out. The officers sprayed the same thing in his face. He was in so much pain, he covered his face with both hands, jumped up and down, and screamed, "Mum, Mum, my eyes hurt!" A police officer admitted, "This is pepper spray!"

Ms. Wang Wanrong, 55, went to Beijing in 1999 to appeal for Falun Gong. She and her family were then targeted for persecution by personnel from the 610 Office at the Oil Well Drilling Company in Nanyang City. Ms. Wang's husband was forced to divorce her. She was later sent to a brainwashing centre, to the Nanzhao Detention Centre, and to the Xinxiang Women's Prison. In prison, the persecutors often cursed and beat Ms. Wang. They rotated four groups of people to try to "reform" [brainwash] her in fifty days. In the end, they found it was impossible to make her denounce Falun Gong. She was then sent to do hard labour in a clothing workshop in the Second Prison District.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Song Guanghua refused to give up his belief. As a result, he has been subjected to sleep deprivation, shocking with electrical batons on his eyes and mouth, as well as other tortures. He was later subjected to three years of forced labour and suffered various tortures at the Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp. At the labour camp, Mr. Song was put in handcuffs and shackles. The scars caused by the handcuffing can still be seen today.

In May 2001, police arrested Mr. Yang Qing, 57, when he was passing out Falun Gong informational fliers. They detained him for six months in the Lingyuan City Detention Centre. In November 2001 they took him to the Chaoyang City Forced Labour Camp. He was released in June 2002. Just 70 days later, police arrested him again and he was sentenced to two years of forced labour a few days later and again taken to the Chaoyang City Forced Labour Camp. Mr. Yang was released in June 2004. In July 2009, he was not feeling good and was diagnosed with late stage pancreatic cancer. He died on October 10th, 2009.

In October 2003, six months after she was released, police arrested Ms. Chen Jianghong a third time and sentenced her to another year of forced labour in the same labour camp. This time she was inhumanly tortured by "Punching the nail wall." This torture involves a wall full of sharp ended nails. Prisoners pulled Ms. Chen to a standing position with her body bent at a 90-degree angle and her head pointed towards the nail-studded wall. She was not allowed to move. If she did, the prisoners would pull her head and push it against the wall full of nails. Her head bled so badly that her eyes and head were swollen for a long time. Ms. Chen was forcibly injected with unknown drugs in each of the forced labour camps and eventually caused her death.

Longquanyi District Court tried Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Changli on October 13th, 2009. Mr. Li's defence attorney, Mr. Du Peng, from Luotai Attorneys' Office in Luoyang City, Henan Province, provided a sound defence for his client's innocence. However, without any legal basis, the court still sentenced Mr. Li Changli to eight years of forced labour, following an internally pre-set term. President Yang Dejun of the Longquanyi District Court was the main judge.

On July 7th, 2009, presiding judge, Zhao Yubin, participated in persecuting practitioners, including Mr. Yu Yungang, Mr. Fu Yu, Ms. Liu Xiufang, and Mr. Wu Zhigang. The Xiangyang District Court lied to the public that the trial would be open to the public, while they instead set up the temporary court at the Jiamusi City Detention Centre, in a rural area outside the city. On the morning before trial, Mr. Fu Yu's mother, relatives and friends went to the court and asked for the time of the trial but their request for this information was denied by Zhao Yubin, who said, "The trial time is not determined yet. Family members do not have the right to ask." Later, the families tried various channels and learned that the court had sentenced Mr. Fu Yu to five years in prison.

Ms. Zhang Ying, 39 years old, is a resident of Shanghai. On September 8th, 2009, she was arrested by police while she was at her mother-in-law's home. When Ms. Zhang's father and mother-in-law asked why they arrested people and ransacked their homes without any legal documents, the police replied, "We arrest people first, then come up with the evidence later." At the police station she was hung up with her hands handcuffed behind her back and was then tortured by the officers. She passed out many times from the pain.
