As the party committee secretary of Yingbin Road Community Office in the Yuhong District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, Niu Yufeng was a committed follower of the "Jiang Zemin and Luo Gan group" in persecuting Falun Gong. In January of 2005, he was charged with corruption, accepting bribes, and dereliction of duty and sentenced to twelve years in prison.

Over the past five years, Falun Gong practitioners and righteous people at home and abroad have made tireless efforts to help people know the truth about Falun Gong. Unfortunately, as of now, a good number of people are still fooled by the official Chinese propaganda. One of the important reasons for their being unable to realise the truth is that they lack a thorough, sufficient understanding of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) history of deception and its nature of using deception.

I know that you are involved in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Therefore, I feel that I must write this letter to you, as I truly believe that every living thing has an innate compassion. Over the years, the characteristics of truthfulness and innocence, inherent in everyone, have gradually become deeply hidden within some people's hearts. However, after understanding the truth and knowing the dreadful consequences of taking part in doing evil, would there still be anyone so foolish as to destroy their own future?

After reading this, I recalled the conflicts I have encountered in my own cultivation. I dealt with some situations well, and not so well with others. I found that if I can always conduct myself as a practitioner in all conflicts, then I can improve myself. If I truly conduct myself as a practitioner, then a conflict automatically resolves itself because I am above the conflict and it therefore has no effect on me.

With only a little reasoning, people can see from the above that Liu Chunling was never a Falun Gong practitioner. As Falun Gong practitioners, we want to ask, "Who told Liu Chunling to burn herself in Tiananmen Square in the name of a Falun Gong? Why did a military man hit the back of her head with a heavy object and kill her during the immolation?"

In both Western and Chinese culture, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The universe will reward actions that are in harmony with this principle, while actions such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution.

Here, we can see how false and misleading the content of this interview is. If the "self-immolation" were not a total fabrication, why was Liu Chunling, who was on fire and could have been rescued, struck on the head by a heavy object and killed by the police? Also, 12-year-old Liu Siying, the daughter of Liu Chunling and the least-burned participant--she was given a tracheotomy, but she could still sing for the media. How could the authorities suddenly announce shortly after the interview that Liu Siying "suddenly died" after assuring the public that she was doing well?

That means we would be out 30,000 yuan for each practitioner. To transform 10,000 people we would need 3 million yuan. Where can we get that kind of money? At so many places, with so many staff members and so many helping and coaching personnel to do the work, if there is no money, no one wants to do it! In addition, the Falun Gong practitioners that have claimed to be transformed were all pretending, and we know that they will continue to practice when they get out. All we can do is scare a few cowards and force them to write something so we can get our reward money."

I even gave a Falun Gong brochure to a leader of the Forestry Bureau and told him the truth about Falun Gong. He said, "Li, a young person who works in our office, also practices Falun Gong. He is a really good person. He relinquished his condo to others when our office gave out condos. Such a good person has been arrested by the police department and sentenced to two years' imprisonment. His sister-in-law also practices Falun Gong and has benefited from the practice. She is a good person too. I heard that the head of the local police station arrested her one day and she died the next day."

Xinhua News Agency insisted that Falun Gong was responsible for the self-immolation incident. But there are many thousands of practitioners in Taiwan, where they share the same Chinese culture as people on the mainland. Why has no self-immolation occurred there? In Europe and the US there are also many Falun Gong practitioners, why has there been no self-immolation?

"I saw two Caucasian men come and sign the petition as well. One of them said excitedly, “I come from Argentina. I just don’t understand why the Chinese Communist government would do such a thing!” A practitioner explained, “The Chinese Communist government uses the media to launch its smear campaign to incite its people to hate Falun Gong."

A "solemn declaration" is a person's public statement declaring to the world that whatever he or she has done or said under duress or deception that was against Falun Dafa is null and void. Most of these statements have come from Falun Dafa practitioners in China who wished to express regret that, in the face of physical torture and brainwashing, they had signed documents renouncing Falun Dafa and guaranteeing not to practise again.

My dad had to go to the city to take on some labour work in order to make a little bit of money. Even so, he was still harassed by the local police. They tried to force him to be "reformed", but my dad never gave in. He often traveled to visit his family and friends, always taking CDs containing factual information about Falun Gong with him to hand out, so people could learn about Falun Gong and the persecution. Almost everyone in our village has watched the Falun Dafa VCD, including the truth about the staged "self-immolation" incident.

Four or five days later, my brother visited me again. He was full of energy and his voice was once more strong and deep. I commented on the change in his appearance. He said, "Well, of course. I did what you suggested. Otherwise, I didn't think I'd get my health back." My elder brother's health continues to improve. Once more he can do everything, and now he tells everyone he meets that Falun Dafa is good and amazing.

The strict control by the CCP concerning freedom of the Chinese media is without equal. This is the result of its accumulated experience from "years of the revolutionary struggle." To retain and strengthen its political power, the CCP will under no circumstances let go of its hold on the media. It understands clearly how to control and keep a tight grip on public opinion. Today, when information technologies are so advanced, tight control over freedom of the press can only result in loss of popularity.

I told him some detailed cases about those who treated Dafa with kindness being rewarded with good fortune and those persecuting Dafa receiving karmic retribution. After he heard this, he asked, "Is it really true?" I said, "How could it be not true? Think about it, you want to earn some more money, so you monitor Dafa practitioners; but your wife was sent to the emergency room on the evening of the Chinese New Year this year, and then was sent to the hospital for treatment...Would you say it is not true?"

A woman in her seventies lives in a village in Laiwu City, Shandong Province. After a Falun Dafa practitioner exposed the truth to her about the persecution, she understood that the propaganda on Chinese television was full of lies. She asked the practitioner for 30 fliers and distributed them herself. When she had distributed all the fliers, a miracle occurred. Her asthma that she had suffered from for many years suddenly disappeared! She felt very energetic afterwards.

After watching the programme he was angry and stated, "This is such a show! How could the immolators enter the square when the police checked everyone? How could the police have fire extinguishers and fire blankets, ready to use, unless they had them ready before the immolation? Why did they look so relaxed when putting out the fires? Who recorded Wang Jindong's voice when he shouted the slogans? How is it possible that his hair and the plastic bottle [between his legs] remained intact during the fire?" He sighed and said, "It's really unbelievable that such a large country and such a major Party resort to such base means to frame Falun Gong."

According to CCTV (Central China Television), the "Self Immolation Incident" was sudden and unexpected, yet the photographer recorded Wang Jindong's loud shouts, detailed pictures of Wang's face and entire body, as well as policemen slowly walking in front of him. Technically, the recordings are the result of a lot of careful preparation, not scenes captured in a hurry.

It is no coincidence that the self-immolation case is being brought out again at this time directly following the death of Zhao Ziyang. A spokesperson for the World Organisation to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) said, "This is the same dirty trick the CCP habitually uses to divert attention. However, the CCP may be playing with fire, because its role in the Tiananmen self-immolation incident has aroused serious international attention. The CCP is widely suspected of single handedly directing the self-immolation incident and murdering potential informers."

People in China lose their tempers very easily. They fight each other all the time like fighting cocks. A trivial thing can cause boisterous bickering or even a brawl. Whether it is on the bus, on the streets, in the stores, in the schools, in the offices, in the factories, or even in rice paddies, people are fighting each other one way or another. When they don’t fight with you directly, they stab you in the back. No one wants to cooperate with other people. In fact, today’s Chinese people are notorious for arguing and fighting with each other constantly. I cannot help wondering: Why do today’s people in China fight so much? Where do we get our bad tempers?

Both are from the Office of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Committee of Hengshui City, Hebei Province. One was labelled "secret" and titled "Notice from Hengshui City CCP Committee Office Regarding the Issuance of its July 21st, 1999 Standing Committee Meeting Minutes" ("City CCP Committee Notice" for short). The other was "Urgent Notice on Several Specific Requirements for The Current Task of Handling and Solving Falun Gong Issue" ("Urgent Notice" for short). These two notices are direct evidence of the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong and reveal the systematic nature of the illegal persecution.

As Jiang Zemin and his group's tyrannical rule nears its end, they are once again focusing on the staged Tiananmen Square self-immolation--an event that happened four years ago and was full of inconsistencies and deceptions from the beginning. By doing this, they are trying in vain to mislead the public and justify their continuing persecution of Falun Gong.

An article from the Bimonthly Review by the People's Net on December 7th, 2004 said: "After 1500 days, the case of killing people to feed dogs in Henan Province was full of doubts." The article described in detail how the police tortured the suspects in order to "solve" the case and claim the reward. In its conclusion, the article said that such actions are all too common.

The "Tiananmen Self-Immolation" incident is a story that was created, and has been repeatedly utilised, by former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) as a propaganda tool to turn public opinion against Falun Gong. However, on Friday, January 21st, 2005, the Beijing bureau of the Associated Press published an article reporting this propaganda as if it were fact, using the CCP's own language.

For instance Sakyamuni in ancient India and Dharma, a monk in Shaolin Temple, both reached consummation during their time while still alive, showing that consummation does not come with death. Furthermore, Falun Gong clearly forbids killing and suicide with the belief that killing and suicide are extremely serious sins. Anyone committing such an act would almost inevitably bring their cultivation to ruin. It is impossible for anyone to achieve consummation by killing or suicide.

To shift people's attention was always, and still is, a most effective tool for the CCP. For example, two years ago, when the lies about SARS were exposed and the situation had reached a critical point, the Chinese official media had around-the-clock broadcasts about a Chinese mountain climbing team's ascent

In fact, no matter whether it is the Western media or ordinary citizens, under the "government-organised visit," it's impossible to learn the truth even by speaking with the "self-immolators." However, in any corner of the earth outside of China, one can see the suspicious points of the incident by watching the footage of the CCTV videotape from four years ago. The discrepancies in this tape serve as clear evidence demonstrating the Jiang faction's act of murder and framing

On the bus to Zhengzhou City, I distributed materials containing the true facts about Falun Gong to three people. As a result, all the people on the bus asked for more materials. I gave everyone a flyer. A plainclothes policeman also asked for one. Then he asked me to sit beside him. Taking out his police ID to show me, he said, "You are really bold and really courageous! You have to be careful from now on. There are a lot of plainclothes policemen around, so you have to be careful. Today, you were lucky to run into me, because I know the truth."

Xinhua purposely passed over the most important news, but put great effort into an incident that happened four years ago that has been demonstrated to have been staged by the Jiang regime. But many people have already experienced Xinhua News Agency's unique programming decisions. In Mainland China, many people say that only the date of the news is true in Xinhua News Agency's paper--all the rest is fake.

Falun Gong spread to nearly one hundred million people, from everywhere and every level of society in China. Under several decades of the CCP's brute-force control, which destroyed Chinese traditional culture, many people had become stubborn atheists. However, after practising cultivation and witnessing the miraculous healing of illness, which could not be explained by modern physiology, and even seeing the other dimensions, several decades of atheism's influence disappeared at once.

It has been, in the truest sense, a Beijing "propaganda victory," as The New York Times called it. If Beijing's claims about the incident were not suspect enough at first, its adaptation and packaging of the incident in subsequent months should be more than enough grounds for suspicion. That Beijing barred foreign journalists from interviewing the victims (while giving State press regular access) for an entire year, and even went so far as to detain those who sought to investigate the story, were obvious indicators that something was afoul.

The traditional culture pays attention to where a life will finally go and reveres gods. It pays attention to "the shore on another side," or "the next life." The Communist evil spectre, on the other hand, wants people to believe only in the present life, to deny the law of cause and effect and retribution, and to only pursue gains in the material world, using whatever means and at whatever cost. Reversing good and evil, the Communist evil spirit was completely incompatible with Chinese traditional culture.

The Xinhua News Agency is aware of its practically non-existent credibility, so it quotes "media from inside and outside of China" in its reports. However, interviews of the referenced media were strictly controlled or outright staged in a fashion similar to the self-immolation, which is comparable to media interviews conducted at Nazi concentration camps during the World War II, when the reporters were led to carefully constructed areas where they could obtain only forged, false images.

Based on a ranking of China's universities and colleges and a simple online search, I was disheartened to learn that 45 of the top 50 universities or colleges have professors, students, staff members, workers, and graduates who are suffering persecution simply because they practise Falun Gong. This is also true of 82 of the top 100 universities or colleges. These simple statistics clearly indicate that the higher education system has been seriously victimised by the movement to persecute Falun Gong

Alex Hsu, a university student majoring in computer science in Beijing. After he was abducted to the brainwashing centre, he signed the statement renouncing Falun Gong. On his way back to the campus, he started to cry. He told the reporter from the Post, "I never believed what I was writing. It was very painful. They forced us to lie. We knew Falun Gong is good, but they forced us to say it was evil." According to the same report, Hsu had since dropped out of school and gone into hiding because he wanted to continue practising Falun Gong.

This was the second time practitioners were harassed by the Chinese Embassy in the United Arab Emirates. In 2002, when Ms. Wang Yuzhi was distributing flyers to people in the United Arab Emirates exposing the persecution she suffered in Wanjia Labour Camp in China, the Chinese Embassy put pressure on United Arab Emirates authorities to have Wang repatriated to China. Later, the Canadian government intervened and rescued her, letting her depart to Canada.

The aftermath was staged equally carefully. There was an "Aunt Liu" who failed in her attempts to set herself on fire. She told the whole story on TV. In concert with the hospital interviews and finger pointing by the so-called friends and family members of the "participants," the fraud that instilled the hatred in China's populace toward Falun Gong was thus produced.

Around the end of December in 2004, an internal document was circulated within various branch offices and institutions of the Beijing Government. Sources said that the documents circulated in some offices did not even carry the official stamp, as though they were afraid to leave behind any incriminating evidence. The title of the document was "Organisational Plan and Resolution on Preventing 'Falun Gong' related (activities),"

The psychiatric abuse plays an integral role in this campaign of terror. On the one hand, it stigmatises the victims, by suggesting to the Chinese public that there may be something wrong with them. On the other hand, there is hardly any torture more terrifying than the abuse of psychiatry. Massive doses of psychotropic drugs rob the victims of their will and reason.

Although one was murdered and one is currently jailed in China, what the two have in common is the courage and integrity to use non-violent action to uphold justice and stand up for people's freedom at great risk to themselves. Oh, and they also share one more thing: both have been considered criminals for their actions.

A Falun Gong practitioner told me, “A Caucasian woman cried when she saw the torture exhibit. She sat with the practitioner acting as a victim suffering from the ‘Tiger Bench’ torture, and asked her husband to take a photograph for her.”

A policeman in a town of Hengsui City of Hebei Province in China has returned the copies of Zhuan Falun that the police took away since the persecution began. He returned the books to practitioners after he realised the truth about Falun Gong. His action made it possible for many new practitioners to have a book to read and solved the problem of having a shortage of books.

Since the persecution against Falun Gong and those who practise Falun Gong started, a significant number of lawsuits have been filed against members of Jiang's regime who participated in the persecution, and many of the perpetrators have been found guilty. These criminals cannot escape the punishment of international law. We believe that in the near future, the laws of China will also punish them.

On the 27th of December in 2004, the Voice of Germany issued a report entitled, "China Fervor Has Reached the Stage of Ignoring Profit." It says German Banking analysts have found that many companies are starting to doubt that the risk/return ratios justify sustaining investments in China. When asked, most German companies refused to disclose the amounts of the profits generated by their business ventures in China. Companies based in other countries also avoid this question.

In one township, a police chief and his assistant attended the city's meeting on how to deal with Falun Gong. On their way home, they saw Falun Gong practitioners hanging banners. The assistant said: "Look! How dare they, hanging banners in broad daylight, let's arrest them." The police chief replied: "Let it go! When Falun Gong is redressed, those who suffer will be us."

Hunan Province planned to select the 100 most advanced towns based on strong industrial and agricultural indices. When investigators came to Jiepai Town, the town's leadership bought tons of rice weed from nearby villages and ordered workers to burn them in each chimney. Seeing the heavy smoke, journalists from the investigation team thought that the industry index of Jiepai Town was among the highest in the province, and they selected Jiepai Town as one of the 100 most advanced towns. Leaders in Jiepai Town were pleased.

On the 31st of December, Beijing attorney Gao Zhicheng of Beijing's Chengzhi Law Office published a copy of the letter he sent to the National People's Congress. Mr. Gao addressed such questions as: Are Falun Gong practitioners treated as Chinese citizens? Should they be granted protection under the Chinese Constitution? Are they granted the rights of a Chinese citizen?

I stood in front of an iron cage prop watching a female Falun Gong practitioner acting as an enslaved victim forced to make toys. She carried wounds and scars revealing the prison guards’ violence, and looked weary and sad. Another Falun Gong practitioner acting as a prison guard stood outside the cage prop, staring fiercely at the enslaved Falun Gong practitioner.
