Suddenly, the unprecedented persecution began. On the morning of July 20, 1999, when we went to group exercise as usual, we noticed several police vehicles. That afternoon, we heard about the massive arrests of Falun Gong practitioners all over China. We were going to exercise again the next day but decided not to go to the same place--we wanted to go and appeal for Falun Gong. I did not see Gu Mengsheng after that.

Every time I read articles by fellow practitioners, I can see my own attachments or notions that conceal ordinary human mentalities. Many of my questions are answered. Of course I realize that the website is not a substitute for studying the Fa, but reading the articles has helped me to look within more.

Whether we are doing Dafa projects or doing ordinary people's things, no matter how busy we think we are, we should never slack off in studying the Fa. Studying the Fa often, following the Fa and measuring things with the Fa, getting rid of all kinds of attachments, and maintaining righteous thoughts and actions--only by doing all of these things can we ultimately negate the old forces, do the three things well, and fulfill our vows.

It's your persecution that killed my husband, it's your persecution causing my child to have no father, now you're here still interfering with me." After listening to what she said, those of the CCP were at the brink of tears. Then finally they said, "We came here just to see you, nothing else." So, out they went.

When I found that other practitioners had helped more people to quit the CCP than myself, I felt ashamed and became even more anxious. As a result it had the opposite effect of what I wanted. This mentality affected me, and for a long period of time I failed to help anyone to withdraw from the CCP, even my relatives.

With Master's strengthening, we turned their scheme of "visiting" in order to persecute us into a good opportunity to clarify the truth to the police face to face. Master taught us, "Whatever you experience during your cultivation--whether good or bad--is good, for it comes about only because you are cultivating." ("To the Chicago Fa Conference" in 2006)

While getting in touch with fellow practitioners in daily life, I commanded them, like the types of leaders of those among everyday people. I pointed out their shortcomings with acrid and mean language, not with compassion.

I would like to offer a word of advice to fellow practitioners who still smoke while cultivating, to eliminate this attachment. It not only harms your body but also gives people a negative impression of practitioners. We are assisting Teacher in Fa-rectification and are manifesting Dafa's goodness. As practitioners, we should meet higher requirements in order to save more sentient beings.

I have come to the enlightenment that whenever I don't conduct myself well in daily cultivation, it is due to my false self being dominant and my true self not being in control. I can conduct myself well when my true self is dominant and I can align myself to the "Fa" taught by Teacher.

As Falun Dafa practitioners of the Fa-rectification period, we are walking on a divine path. Our great Teacher has already given us great abilities to protect ourselves. If we have righteous thoughts and actions, we will definitely be safe. Certainly, the premise is that we must diligently study the Fa

I have found a fundamental issue in my personal cultivation that I have not completely eliminated. It is resentment toward the Chinese people who oppose and hate Dafa. I do not accept them from the bottom of my heart. Even though I understand that I should treat them benevolently from the Fa perspective--and I try my best through my words and actions to treat them that way--I still don't truly treat them with compassion.

On the last day of the three-day Qingming Festival, I became resolute in my mind. Holding on to the iron bars on the window, I shouted with all my strength, "Falun Dafa is good!" I kept shouting it louder and louder. I did this during the visitation time. Many people ran to the open area and looked in my direction. The police officers became very nervous. Several of them used force to drag me back to the cell. However, I continued to shout.

As Dafa disciples, we should not let the world's people, who are supposed to be saved, be weeded out along with the sentient beings in their cosmic bodies. We should not even think about when the evil Party will disintegrate and when this persecution will finally end. Master clearly talked about this issue in "Teaching the Fa to Australian Practitioners." The only thing that we should be focusing on now is how to best use the time left to save people.

Since my wife is near sighted, I asked her to send forth righteous thoughts as I was posting the flyers on the police station gate. The gate was well lit, and four or five police cars were parked there. People were going in and out of the gate as if they were having a meeting. I told myself that I couldn't just leave; that I wouldn't leave until I put the fliers on their door and walls; and that I was eliminating evil and we were not afraid.

Teacher knows that I have no fear or notions, so Teacher gives me divine power. With righteous thoughts, if you ask people to quit the CCP they will quit. But with a human mindset, you can't easily convince people to quit the CCP. In fact, Teacher gave every practitioner these abilities, but fellow practitioners don't always make good use of them. With a human mindset and fear, your feelings will limit your ability to use divine power.

While passing through Hong Kong Customs, it suddenly seemed like a voice talking to me, "Any behavior of trying to prove oneself in Dafa is very silly, very disrespectful. A being should be humble in Dafa, gaining naturally without pursuit." I wanted to cry and recalled what Master said, "If they are not cleaned out, how can you, with such an impure, dark body and a filthy mind, practice cultivation toward a higher level?" (Lecture One, Zhuan Falun)

The most important thing at present is to save people. We must think of every conceivable means to save people so as to fulfill our grand pledge to assist Teacher in the Fa-rectification. Every single life saved matters. The more, the better. Teacher has expounded on the importance of saving sentient beings from the perspective of the Fa, so we must follow it. In regard to saving people, we ought to use our wisdom to save more people.

I sometimes think, "I have already spent some time studying the Fa today. I can wait for tomorrow to study the Fa again." At my current level of cultivation, I understand that since Master emphasises the importance of Fa study with a calm mind, then when I can't get my mind focused on Fa study or do not want to study the Fa, aren't these the times I should search within? Am I really unwilling to assimilate myself into the Fa?

Many people want to cultivate and wish to succeed in cultivation. However, many have failed to fulfill this wish because they experienced difficulties when trying to eliminate attachments. Among the various kinds of attachments, sexual desire and lust seem to be the most difficult to eliminate. From ancient times to today, there have been countless practitioners who failed the last hurdle in their cultivation and were ruined instantly.

After emptying the buckets the second time, while in a rage, I suddenly realized that this task must be Teacher's arrangement, and meant to eliminate my attachment to reputation. Before I started practicing Falun Gong, I thought my attachment to reputation was only a minor affair, as I tended to act on my own free will, with little regard to other people's opinions.

The old forces arranged a series of prophecies to make us have an attachment to "expecting the final prophecy," and it did arouse many people's attachments. It not only made us recognize its arrangement, but also recognize the old cosmos's reasoning. I didn't clearly understand from the Fa that this is a meticulous arrangement made by the old forces - the old forces intended to eliminate more people. But we want to save more people.

One day practitioner C asked me to help solve a problem with a computer. I went to C's home and solved the problem easily. C said that practitioner D also had the same problem and he couldn't solve it either. When I heard that, I felt proud of myself. On my way home, I searched inside and found that I had a heart for showing off, joy, and jealousy hiding behind my pride. These are all postnatal notions, not from my true self.

Teacher has time and again prolonged the Fa-rectification process in order to leave people like me (those who know that Dafa is good but dare not come forward as true practitioners) a window of opportunity. I know that there are still many practitioners who are like the previous me. They are either wandering about in "regret" after making mistakes; are still unclear who they are cultivating for; are seeking an easy life and holding fast to the life of an ordinary person; or are lost in other human notions.

Currently, a lot of practitioners are judging others by whether they have been discovered by police, and consider those who have not been discovered good, and those who have been discovered, bad. They don't use "Zhen-Shan-Ren" as "the Sole Criterion to Discern Good and Bad People" (Zhuan Falun). Because the criterion has been distorted, we are indifferent to other practitioners' tribulations and don't care about practitioners being persecuted.

We must quickly assimilate to Dafa and let go of our ego, to offer more sentient beings salvation. Almost all human notions - fear, hatred, grievance, the competitive mentality, arguing, boasting, jealousy, making excuses for oneself and so forth - stem from one's misplaced ego. Some of us can go to extremes in word and deed when someone or something infringes on our self-interests.

hrough this process of the competition between the righteous and the evil, I felt that as long as we believe in Master and Dafa, we need not be afraid of any tribulation. Tribulations are all false phenomena. "When disciples have ample righteous thoughts, Master has the power to turn back the tide." ("The Master-Disciple Bond" from Hong Yin II, translation version A)

Recently, some Falun Dafa practitioners have been writing romantic novels to clarify the truth about Falun Dafa. There have been many discussions on this issue. As I understand it, writing novels is just one of many different forms of art, and that the same Fa principles apply to writing novels as apply to the creation of all other forms of art.

I walked further and saw a man in his fifties who was mis-diagnosed with lung cancer and underwent an operation to have part of his lungs removed. He said the court ruled that he receive only one thousand yuan in compensation, which he could not accept. I thus explained the facts to him. He said he had a friend who also practices Falun Gong. I told him to follow "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," to be a good person, and he will survive when calamity strikes, so there is no need to haggle over that kind of money.

It shows the incredible power of our righteous thoughts in close proximity. I hope that all practitioners who are not imprisoned will deliver the thought to those imprisoned practitioners using their abilities, or inform them when they visit them in prison. Please tell them that they are comparable to Monkey King in the tummy of the wicked Princess of the Iron Fan, and that they are capable of completely eliminating the evil beings while in close proximity.

From this painful experience and from the many other cases of fellow practitioners suffering from cruel torture and losing their lives, I finally realized that we must have a sense of responsibility to the Fa, to fellow practitioners and to sentient beings at all times. By doing so, we will be able to walk steadily on our cultivation path, do the three things well and save sentient beings.

Actually, at present, all serious "sickness karma"are evil tribulations. This is completely different from the "going through hardship and suffering" Master talked about. Of course, be it evil tribulation or "going through hardship and suffering," we all need to look inward, improve ourselves, and elevate our xinxing through the difficulties. The difference is that if it is indeed a tribulation arranged by the old forces, we need to completely negate their arrangement and end the persecution through our thoughts and actions.

After I learned Falun Dafa, I soon joined the group exercises and Fa study sessions. That period is a precious memory to me. It was during that time that most of my bad habits were cleaned out. I learned how to be a good person, and my family relationships became harmonious. My views on many things changed, and I decided not to give up on myself.

In today's world, as the moral standard has gone down rapidly, the global 2008 Chinese New Year Spectacular from New Tang Dynasty Television and the Divine Performing Arts group awakened the deep memory that people have of those good virtues like truthfulness, kindness, forbearance and simplemindedness.

I'm a practitioner who has taken a detour from his cultivation path. I started practising Falun Gong in spring 1997, but stopped cultivating in 1999 because of the persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). I stepped back on the cultivation path again on March 27, 2004. I had many attachments, spent very little time on studying the Fa, the exercises or sending forth righteous thoughts.

t night, they changed guards. I told this new group of people about how the CCP is persecuting Falun Gong, and how corrupt the CCP is. They all agreed and even asked me questions about Falun Gong. They explained to me, "We have no choice but to watch you. If you leave, we will lose our jobs." I told them, "Our Teacher teaches us that whatever we do, we have to think about other people first...

This trip was totally fulfilling, and I learned incredible lessons. I also want to thank my wife for her support. Emotionally and rationally, I hope my family can join me and experience what I have experienced. Falun Dafa is more than just wonderful. We have the sacred mission to tell people about the wonders and facts of Falun Dafa.

Different environments will expose our different attachments. For example, when talking to strangers, we may feel embarrassed and unwilling to approach them, unsure of how to start the conversation, and think that they will refuse to listen to us. Some practitioners in China may fear being reported to the police and being arrested. These attachments will lead to another attachment of glossing over.

also thought that I was more capable than my husband, hence I should have the right to order him around. That was actually jealousy. Deep in my heart, I felt unbalanced if he did better than I did; at the same time, I was content when he did not do it well and he felt frustrated and humiliated. One day, I suddenly realized that many kinds of attachments were even deeply hidden in my everyday life, and when I admitted they were my attachments, I could feel that my microscopic world shook slightly.

Concentration is a specific state of tranquility. Concentration can manifest in many ways, including doing well the three things; being tranquil while studying the Fa; being able to conquer any interference, such as sleepiness; being able to assimilate to the Fa; being able to cleanse one's own dimensions before sending forth righteous thoughts; and having a strong main consciousness with strong, correct thoughts, and a strong energy field.

In early September 2007, the old Columbia University CSSA website was completely shuttered and a new CUCSSA website was put up which had no slanderous material. On the surface, the reason was that the CUCSSA had a yearly election and replaced its board members, but we know that it was practitioners' tireless efforts in clarifying the truth, directly and face-to-face, that completely turned the situation around.

One day I went to someone's home to clarify the truth. Two days later, a practitioner told me that when I spoke to that person, he immediately thought that I was a cadre. He said that I always ordered others to do things. I was very surprised at that because I had never realized it. In the process of communicating with this practitioner, I suddenly realized the root cause of my problem.

During the disaster, the practitioners were very calm, not flustered or scared. Every practitioner was thinking of how to save people. During the earthquake, many people witnessed the miracle of Dafa. After the earthquake, practitioners began working harder then ever to clarify the truth to save people, and more and more people have quit the CCP.

There was an article on the Minghui website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net) that told about a practitioner who tried to persuade a person to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations, but no matter what she said, that person just refused to quit. The practitioner was not frustrated or angry. Instead, she said with a smile, "The next time you meet someone who suggests that you quit the CCP, please take his or her advice." I really respect this practitioner.

Compassion is completely detached from "self", thus one is not concerned whether other people are familiar or strangers. It is to be kind to all people. Compassion is not to measure others with one's own criteria, instead, it is to put oneself in other people's shoes and understand others. For a practitioner, it is also to kindly help others to raise their levels and meet the standards of the Fa at different levels.

Sometimes, when we saw that she was having so many difficulties, we as daughters really wanted to let her lie down and rest, and we wanted to help her finish what she had to do. Whenever this notion came out, Master's words, "In Fa-Rectification Your Thoughts Have to be Righteous, Not Human" helped us continuously correct ourselves so that we were able to maintain pure, righteous thoughts to enhance our mother's righteous thoughts and help her through every challenging step.

We all know that time is precious. For the new practitioners, we not only have to catch up with personal cultivation, but we also have to be in line with the standard of a Dafa practitioner in the Fa-rectification period to do well the three things. Cultivation is very serious. We should not change the standard for ourselves regardless of whether we are new practitioners or senior ones.

As my mother watched the show, she murmured: "Look at their spirit. They are totally different from what the propaganda says about them." She then said to me, "I'll be honest with you. When others say something bad about Falun Gong, I do not like it." This was from the bottom of her heart. She watched it over and over again, and she learned to sing the song that Bai Xue sang, "Discard the Old for the New."
