"China’s human rights record has been and is still of great concern to us, as it has shown no improvement. Please be assured that the CDU Task Force for the Protection of Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid (on the federal level), within the scope of its mandate, has given great attention to religious freedom and freedom of belief worldwide for many years...During all our activities, be they parliamentary initiatives, media releases and discussions, we have continuously raised the repression of Falun Gong by the Chinese regime."

Letter from Amnesty International’s Danish Branch to the Danish Immigration Office regarding a Falun Gong Practitioner in Denmark Facing Deportation [30.10.2004]

"According to Amnesty International’s reports, ten thousand Falun Gong practitioners have been subjected to arbitrary detention by the police. From these, many have been subjected to torture or other kinds of mistreatment; furthermore, a lot of people have died while in police custody under uncertain conditions and without being examined by the authorities afterwards."

Statement from "The Committee to Globally Rescue Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners" Regarding the Successful Rescue of Falun Gong Practitioners Xiong Wei and Zhou Xuefei [15.10.2004]

Falun Gong practitioner Ms Xiong Wei, who used to study in Germany, has been successfully rescued from China and arrived in Germany on the 29th of September. Earlier this September, Falun Gong practitioner Zhou Xuefei , the wife of a visiting academic in the US, arrived in USA after three years of inhuman harassment in a labour camp in China, as a result of many efforts made to rescue her.

Representative of the Worldwide Organisation for Women Condemns the Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners’ Families and Children [22.08.2004]

"In China, families who practise Falun Gong are suffering....The practice of Falun Gong was banned in 1999. Vicious persecution has followed leaving families tortured and torn apart. The children themselves suffer as they are sometimes imprisoned with their parents...These situations violate numerous articles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child."

Switzerland: Statement by International Educational Development Supporting the Lawsuits Filed by Falun Gong Practitioners Outside China [17.08.2004]

On August 6th 2004, at the 56th session of the Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights, item 6:specific human rights issues, the representative of International Educational Development brought before the meeting the lawsuits filed by Falun Gong practitioners outside China and expressed her organisation's support for the action taken.

A Representative of the Association of World Citizens made a Speech at a Plenary Session of the Fifty-Sixth Session of the Sub Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights held at the United Nations Office in Geneva [13.08.2004]

This system equates to veritable economic slavery set up and maintained by the Chinese Government. It violates the Chinese Constitution and international laws such as International Labour Organisation Conventions Nos. 29 and 105 It encourages corruption, torture and organised crime (for 570 cases of death from torture in the camps, 24 per cent were Falun Gong practitioners).

The Society for Threatened People (GfbV) Contacts the Chinese Ambassador to Austria Regarding Falun Gong Practitioner Yong Wang’s Passport Extension Rejection [10.08.2004]

"Mr Yong Wang advised us concerning his Chinese passport extension rejection. We understand that he has not received, as of date, a written clarification concerning the denial of his right and freedom of travel. We view your actions concerning the revocation of Yong Wang’s citizenship without any clarification of due process, as a serious violation of human rights, given legal precedence and direct as well as indirect declarations of applicable UN Agreements."

Statement by NGO Interfaith International at the 56th Session of the United Nations Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights [06.08.2004]

"Purely for economic interests, enterprises of all sizes and foreign investors who are aware of the situation prefer to close their eyes. They do not consider the fact that they are making themselves accomplices of what well-known human rights lawyers consider one of the most serious situations of persecution and genocide currently existing, in terms both of its size and of the means used: slander, incitement to hatred, incitement to denounce, privation of all social, economic and cultural rights, torture and murder."

Letter from the President of the International Association for Human Rights to the Chinese Ambassador in Vienna [13.07.2004]

"The car carrying the gunman did not stop. Liang, an Australian Falun Gong practitioner of Chinese decent was the only one shot at. He was the only one in the car wearing a jacket with the words “Falun Dafa.” This points to the conclusion that the shooting was a premeditated action against Falun Gong during the two officials’ visit. Zeng, Bo, and other high officials who have given orders in China that have resulted and still result in torture and death."

Statement from the Chairman of Olympic Watch on the United Nations International Day to Support Torture Victims [11.07.2004]

On the International Day against Torture, June 26th, Olympic Watch calls on the government of the People’s Republic of China to stop the abhorrent practises of torture and ill-treatment throughout the PRC. We commemorate the victims of torture by the communist authorities in China, be it Falun Gong practitioners, political prisoners, or other people. Torture can never be excused and the People’s Republic of China has pledged to eradicate it by its ratification of the Convention against torture.

Letter from the Interprofessional Workers’ Association to the Chinese Ambassador in Austria [04.07.2004]

"For several long years now, the Chinese Government has undertaken a series of measures to put an end to the development of this practise. Even worse, President Jiang Zemin, head of Government at that time, was to make the decision to prohibit Falun Gong and to persecute its practitioners. From different reports, therefore, mainly from human rights organisations, it appears that there are hundreds of people who have been arrested and imprisoned, and who still remain locked up in forced labour camps."

Speech at a UK Press Conference by European Friends of Falun Gong [01.07.2004]

"On Monday this week, a Falun Gong practitioner, David Liang, was driving from Johannesburg to Pretoria in South Africa, when his car came under gunfire from hitmen hired by Chinese officials eager to counteract the serving of legal papers against the two Chinese government officials, Vice President Zeng Qinghong, and Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai."

Amnesty International Annual Report Exposes China’s Suppression of Falun Gong [02.06.2004]

Amnesty International released its annual report on human rights status across the world on May the 26th 2004. This report outlines the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, including the rising death toll. It also portrays details of the death of a practitioner from Jilin Province who was beaten to death by prison inmates who were instructed to do so by the prison officials.

A Seminar on Human Rights in China was Held in the Norwegian Parliament [31.05.2004]

The Norwegian Parliament was the venue for a seminar on the human rights situation in China. It was hosted by Parliament members and co-arranged by the Norwegian Falun Dafa Association. Many parliament members and representatives from human rights organisations and persecuted groups attended the seminar.

UK: Explaining the Facts at an Amnesty International Meeting in Huddersfield [24.05.2004]

On May the 20th, 2004, a Falun Gong practitioner attended a meeting held by the UK Amnesty International working group in Huddersfield. At the meeting, the practitioner explained the facts about Falun Gong to four Amnesty members and showed them a truth-clarification video. When talking about Jiang’s genocide policy against Falun Gong, one of the members appeared to be shocked deeply. The head of this Amnesty International working group expressed his support for Falun Gong, and his wish to do something to rescue Falun Gong practitioners.

Olympic Watch Issues Press Release on World Falun Dafa Day [17.05.2004]

Prague, March 19th 2004 – On the occasion of Falun Dafa Day, Olympic Watch (Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games in a Free and Democratic Country) has issued a statement today, condemning religious persecution in the People’s Republic of China. Olympic Watch was established in Prague in 2001. Its mission is to monitor the human rights situation in China in the run-up to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and to campaign to achieve improvements in the lives of the people of China.

Belgian Amnesty International Issues a Statement Regarding the Chinese Premier’s Visit to Belgium and the EU China Trade Forum [09.05.2004]

Belgian Amnesty International issued a statement on the Chinese premier’s visit to Belgium and the EU China trade forum. The statement especially pointed out that the International Amnesty requests the Chinese government to conduct a thorough, fair and independent investigation into the already verified deaths of Falun Gong practitioners in detention centres, reports on Falun Gong practitioners being subjected to torture during detention periods and brutally persecuted.

Radio Free Asia: A German-Based International Human Rights Association Submits a Five-Point Resolution to the European Parliament [25.04.2004]

A Human Rights Association based in Germany has been paying close attention to China's human rights problems. At their annual general meeting last year, they passed a resolution asking the German government to express concern over China's crackdown on Falun Gong and to help release the imprisoned Falun Gong practitioner Xiong Wei. Last weekend they passed a five-point resolution based on last year's resolution and submitted it to the European Parliament.

RFA: International Human Rights Association Passes a Resolution Condemning the Chinese Government's Human Rights Abuses [17.04.2004]

The annual general meeting of the International Human Rights Association, which is based in Germany, was held in Frankfurt. Several representatives from China and Hong Kong were invited to attend to report on China's human rights situation. Mr. Wu Hongda, a Chinese human rights activist, as well as persecuted Falun Gong practitioners were also invited to address the meeting. The following report is based on German reporter Tian Yi’s broadcast for Radio Free Asia.

Exposing the Persecution of Falun Gong in the Chinese Educational System During the Annual Meeting of the UN Human Rights Commission [14.04.2004]

On April the 6th, during the annual meeting of the UN Human Rights Commission (UNHRC), the World Women's Organisation (USA) staged a seminar on Human Rights in the Chinese educational system. World Organisation to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) president John Jaw, Falun Gong practitioner Zhao Ming and Australian human rights lawyer Christopher Nyst were invited to this seminar.

Spanish Chapter of Amnesty International Expresses Concern over the Persecution of Falun Gong in China [12.04.2004]

"Amnesty International has been closely monitoring the Chinese Government's persecution of Falun Gong for a long time and have expressed its concern many times."

Creating Momentum to Oppose China’s Human Rights Abuses [10.04.2004]

According to news released by the Falun Gong Information Centre on April the 6th, during the 60th Session of the U.N. Human Rights Commission, several dozen non-governmental organisations will gather at the U. N. headquarters in New York on April the 8th to urge the member countries of the U.N. Human Rights Commission to pay attention to China’s human rights practices. They also will urge the U.N. Human Rights Commission to support the resolution introduced by the U.S. to condemn China’s human rights practices.

WOIPFG Publishes New Book, "Investigation Reports on the Persecution of Falun Gong" -- - Spokesman sends a copy to the ministers of each country during the United Nations Human Rights Commission Meeting in Geneva [10.04.2004]

The World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) announced on April the 6th 2004 that it had published a new book entitled "Investigation Reports on the Persecution of Falun Gong" and its spokesman Mr. John Jaw would introduce the book for the first time in Geneva, where the United Nations Human Rights Commission meeting is being held.

Announcement by China Mental Health Watch: Investigating Mental Torture and Misuse of Mental Institutions in the Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in China [03.04.2004]

Ever since the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners began on July 20, 1999, the media and human rights organisations around the world continuously reported on the Chinese Government's cruelty towards Falun Gong practitioners, including psychiatric abuse. According to incomplete data, about 1,000 healthy Falun Gong practitioners were forcibly sent to mental institutions, and many were forcibly injected with psychotropic drugs. They received forced electro-shock and some were tied up and force-fed for long periods of time. At least 10 practitioners died from this type of maltreatment. Many of these practitioners were held in hospitals for as long as two and a half years. At least ninety mental institutions in China participated in this particular part of the persecution.

"The core mission of GMR is to “Call for conscience, moral courage and actions for justice”. In particular, we are committed to raising the awareness of the genocide, genocide of conscience and brutal persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in China; and we strive to rescue all the Falun Gong practitioners that are persecuted and tortured in jails, labour camps, mental hospitals, and detention centres. The World Psychiatric Association Will Investigate Psychiatric Abuse against Falun Gong Practitioners in China [31.03.2004]

According to the message sent out through an NGO established last year in New York, China Psychiatric Watch, that Further to last month message, a plan for WPA and SP joint meeting (visit) in Beijing on April the 4th 2004 was accepted by the Chinese Minister of Health and the CSP for examining the records, interviewing patients and their families or doctors who were involved in the examination of those patients after obtaining their consent and access to what is required for those cases that allegedly were subjected to psychiatric abuse.

Speech from the International Conference on "Genocide in the New Era" by Peter Müller from the International Human Rights Federation [31.03.2004]

"We normally think of terrorists as a group of individuals who use violent methods to terrorize a state into submitting to their demands. State terrorism is when a whole nation’s resources are harnessed to terrorize its individuals into submitting to the will of the ruling party or leader. This is standard dictatorial and especially Communist practice, not only in China. The description fits exceptionally well the brutal persecution which the former Chinese President Jiang Zemin unleashed against Falun Gong practitioners in China."

Before the Meeting of UN Human Rights Commission, International Human Rights Organisations Held a Human Rights Dinner and Dance [28.03.2004]

Through beautiful music and dance, the human rights evening hoped to remind people of the continuous violations of human rights in other parts of the world. Taking place before the meeting of the UN Human Rights Commission, the human rights evening appeared more meaningful.

The United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention: The Free Practice of Falun Gong Should be Protected by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights [23.03.2004]

According to a report on March the 15th 2004 from Falun Dafa Information Centre, some Falun Gong practitioners submitted the case of illegal arrest of Li Ling and Pei Jilin for practising Falun Gong to the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (the Working Group). After over 5 months of investigation, the Working Group rendered the above opinion, which will be reproduced in the Working Group's report to the Commission on Human Rights at its sixty-first session.

UN Delegate from Association of World Citizens: “We hope that solidarity between NGOs and Falun Gong practitioners will help to change the attitude of the Chinese Government” [22.03.2004]

"In her discussion with China, the former High Commissioner of Human Rights, Mrs Mary Robinson, denounced the violations against Falun Gong many times. Special Rapporteurs of the Commission of Human Rights continue to report on the importance of the violations. At the present time, the Chinese Government does not abide by the international law, as it uses different means to prevent the Commission from discussing the topic of Falun Gong."

International Society for Human Rights Speech during a Rally to file a Genocide Lawsuit against Jiang Zemin in Germany [22.03.2004]

"The truth about the world’s most evil human rights abuser, Jiang Zemin, finally comes to light. Jiang Zemin uses state resources and orders Chinese government officials to carry out his atrocities. Fully utilising China’s media, Jiang initiated a fabricated propaganda campaign to present fictitious events, deceive people and incite hatred against Falun Gong."

Speech by “The Society of Threatened People” at a Rally in Germany [21.03.2004]

"Over the four years of repression, at least 880 adherents of this spiritual group have died in prisons, labour camps or police stations from torture. One is informed weekly of an increased number of deaths. Torture is a daily ritual in Chinese police stations and prisons. Please believe us that these are not abuses attributable to a few individuals, but a systematic suppression of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party and the country’s leadership. This is no secret, as the country and party’s leadership stressed repeatedly that Falun Gong had to be eliminated."

Scotland: Personal Meetings with Human Rights Organizations to let them Know the Facts [16.03.2004]

As practitioners continue to make efforts to tell people about Dafa and the persecution, more people have come to understand the truth. However many people still have an impression of Dafa that appears correct but is actually wrong, whilst some even have misunderstandings. We have sent truth clarifying materials to various human rights organizations in Scotland but overall not much feedback was received. In order to clarify the truth further, Dafa practitioners in Scotland decided to meet various human rights organizations face to face.

Open Letter to Chinese Delegates from World Organisation to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) [15.03.2004]

"In September of 2003 and January of 2004, WOIPFG and the Canadian Falun Dafa Association submitted to the Canadian Royal Mounted Police a list of names of 45 people who have initiated and actively participated in the persecution of Falun Gong, as well as evidence of the crimes that they have committed. The 45 people include Jiang Zemin, Li Lanqing, Luo Gan, Liu Jing, Zhou Yongkang, among others."

Official Resolution from the International Conference "Genocide in the New Era" [13.03.2004]

From the 26th to the 28th of January 2004, as part of a worldwide tribute to the global recognition of human rights, Friends of Falun Gong Europe and the International Advocates for Justice were joined by seventeen NGOs to sponsor “Genocide in the New Era”, an international conference attended by human rights attorneys and people from NGOs in Sweden, Belgium, Spain, Canada, Finland, Denmark, Taiwan, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States and other nations. Italian Human Rights Organisation Again Published a Press Release to Declare Support for Falun Gong Practitioners' Human Rights [25.02.2004]

"There is evidence that the French police used brutal and excessive methods to handle Falun Gong practitioners. They came to Paris to attend the Chinese New Year Celebrations staged by the Chinese and French Governments. The arrested people did not protest. They only wore yellow. Two women were arrested while they walked on the Champs Eylsees. When they asked the reason for their arrest the police said: “You are wearing yellow - today yellow is illegal.”"

Report from the Stockholm International Conference on “Genocide in the New Era”: Preventing Campaigns of Genocide and the Persecution of Falun Gong [17.02.2004]

"We agreed that the continuing persecution of some hundred million Chinese citizens by the government of the People's Republic of China for their moral beliefs is a most serious manifestation of genocide as defined in Article 2 of the 1948 Genocide Convention and is unacceptable in the world today, prejudices the development of cooperation and trust between nations and warrants further efforts by governments with a view to its termination."

UK: European Friends of Falun Gong Speech at French Embassy in London [05.02.2004]
