"European Friends of Falun Gong" Letter Asks for Public Apology from French Authorities [02.02.2004]

"We believe therefore that the French authorities should make a public apology to the Falun Gong practitioners for an episode which contravenes the basic democratic right of all citizens to demonstrate peacefully. It is totally unacceptable that the French authorities should allow the same sort of human rights abuse currently taking place in China to be transferred to the streets of one of the largest democracies in the western world."

A Letter from the Chairperson of the Association for Threatened People – "To file a lawsuit against China’s former leader, Jiang Zemin, is a crucial step in bringing human rights abusers to justice." [07.12.2003]

"At the moment, it is still not optimistic to expect China to become a country ruled by law. When security members and state agents violate human rights, citizens are not likely to be protected by the law. As a result, people are calling on the international community to bring China’s human rights abusers to justice by taking legal action. The Association for Threatened People, in particular, expresses our support for any legal action to bring the evildoers, including China’s former leader, to court."

November 2003

"Action of Christians for the Abolition of Torture" Urgently Appeals for the Release of Dafa Practitioner Liu Chengjun [15.11.2003]

"...on the 24th March 2002, Cheng Jun Liu was again brutally arrested by the police. State employees beat his cousin until he divulged, under torture, Cheng’s hiding place. They then set fire to the woodpile where the latter was hiding and made him come out. Although he was already tied hand and foot they shot him twice in his thighs. After undergoing more ill treatment in a police hospital, Cheng Liu was transferred to a detention centre at Tiebei where he was tortured continuously for 52 days with the aim of extracting a “confession” from him. He was then condemned to 19 years’ imprisonment..."

An Interview with a Representative of the European Branch of WOIPFG [06.11.2003]

"From the standpoint of the WOIPFG, the lawsuits have brought condemnation of the persecution from a moral level to a legal level. This is exactly the purpose of this organisation. Just like World War II war criminals, even tens of years after their crimes they still have to face trial in court if apprehended. This is international justice. We don’t think that we have to wait that long. This determination to legally deal with all of these crimes will shock the perpetrators. It would be best if we could stop their actions and let people in China and other countries know that the persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang and his accomplices is a serious criminal act."

Speech by President of the German Branch of the China Democracy League at the First European Meeting of the Global Coalition to Bring Jiang to Justice [02.11.2003]

"In just a few years, the number of Falun Gong practitioners reached 100 million. This is twice the number of members in the Chinese communist party. As a result, Jiang Zemin was so afraid of Falun Gong that he used weapons, and he used scoundrel tactics to start the bloody persecution of Falun Gong, the worst persecution in history. Statistics show that there are over 700 practitioners who have been brutally tortured to death."

Spain: Clarifying the Truth to Amnesty International Before Filing the Lawsuit Against Jiang and Luo [01.11.2003]

"The intention to sue Jiang is not to win the case but to let more people know about the evilness of the persecution and to let more people know about the truth in order to stop this persecution. This persecution isn’t just aimed at Falun Gong practitioners, but it’s also aimed at humankind’s precious morality and the principles of the universe. Therefore, the victims of this persecution are not only Falun Gong practitioners, but people throughout the world."

Since the suppression in China started four years ago, there have been 770 Falun Gong practitioners persecuted to death in detention centres, labour camps or prisons due to inhuman torture."

WOIPFG Participated in the Lawsuit in Iceland Against Luo Gan, the Head of the “610” Office [14.09.2003]

This organisation, that has no legal foundation, is similar to Nazi Germany’s Gestapo and also the teams during China’s Cultural Revolution. Because of the special status and function of the “610 Office”, it should be held responsible for the illegal deeds of death, torture, arbitrary detention, ‘education’ through labour, as well as sentences and fines that are common with the persecution of Falun Gong.

Swiss NGO Writes to Hong Kong Authorities about Appeal of 15 Falun Gong Practitioners [03.09.2003]

"ACAT-Switzerland has been attentively observing the last year’s trial against [fifteen] Falun Gong practitioners in Hong Kong, among them four Swiss nationals...With indignation we learned that all defendants were found guilty in August 2002. The charges brought against them don’t have any legal foundation...We therefore consider the August 2002 judgement arbitrary and support the defendants’ appeal on the case. We therefore urge the court dealing with the appeal in the next days to appreciate the facts and evidences strictly from the point of view of the Hong Kong legislation and to acquit the defendants of all charges."

And we hope that you as members of the public will lend your support to this campaign and continue to keep up the pressure on the government of China."

International Society for Human Rights writes to Tung Chee Hwa calling for an End to Article 23 [27.08.2003]

"This is Jiang’s horrific form of genocide: It is a terror that does not just destroy lives, but aims to destroy faith. It is a terror that should not be allowed to exist in the modern world. It is a terror that must be brought to justice. That’s the reason why several lawsuits against Jiang Zemin have been launched. Why should Hong Kong prepare a law which would import the persecution of Falun Gong to Hong Kong, when other Countries are suing the responsible people for the persecution of Falun Gong?"

Speech for Rally at Parliament Hill [25.08.2003]

There can be no excuses. No silence. No looking away. Instead all governments must, with determination and resolve, do everything possible to ensure that Chinese officials, no matter how high or low their office, who have been responsible for committing human rights violations are held to account for what they have done. That is what justice demands. That is what human rights demand.

June 2003

Speech by European Friends of Falun Gong at Article 23 Press Conference in London [29.06.2003]

"We know how many people are against the introduction of Article 23. 26,000 people have signed a petition against it in the last few weeks alone. Article 23 must be stopped in its present form. We must help maintain the ‘One country-two systems’ principle, which China agreed to in 1997. Hong Kong’s citizens must be given the chance of freedom of belief and expression, which we in the west take for granted, but which should be extended to all citizens of the world."

Their family members and friends are even oppressed by the dictator and his accomplices, and this is absolutely unacceptable."

European Friends of Falun Gong: “It is Time to Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice” [05.06.2003]

"We believe that it is right that Jiang Zemin, the perpetrator of a four-year campaign of brutal persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in China, be brought to account for his evil actions in a court of law, and that the worst example of man’s evil against man in recent history should be exposed to the world. We give our full support to those in Chicago (USA) and Switzerland who are currently in the process of prosecuting Jiang Zemin through the courts in their own countries."

Russia: Information and Public Facility Association Supports Falun Dafa Activities [04.06.2003]

"Our information indicates that there are about 100 million people in almost half of the countries in the world practising Falun Dafa. Over 1000 practitioners have been involuntarily detained in mental hospitals at least 91 hospitals have been identified for being engaged in this psychiatric abuse of the practise. Letter from Front Line Human Rights Defenders to Thai Prime Minister regarding the Illegal Detention of Pirjo Svensson [23.05.2003]

"It seems that Mrs Svensson has been given no explanation or reason for her arrest and detention but it would seem to be in connection with her Falun Gong activities. If this is so then her continuing detention is a violation of her rights to freedom of belief and expression. We therefore call for her immediate and unconditional release."

Letter to Thailand Authorities from European Friends of Falun Gong [07.05.2003]

"Falun Gong practitioners have no political motives for wanting to gain the freedom of practitioners in China, they simply want them to be able to practise Falun Gong freely and in accordance with the Chinese constitution.
