More UK MPs Support the Trial of Jiang for his Crimes against Falun Gong Practitioners [05.09.2003]

“Thank you for your letter of 11th July concerning the persecution of Falun Gong especially by the ex-communist leader Jiang Zemin. I was already familiar with the crimes and with the proposed lawsuits but it is always good to receive reminders of the crimes committed. I entirely agree with the content of your letter.”

Letter of Support from Finnish Member of Parliament [04.09.2003]

"We are very aware of the persecution of Falun Gong. Human rights abuses in China are totally unacceptable. For those who have become accustomed to free society, it is impossible to comprehend how the Chinese government has behaved [in relation to Falun Gong]...through international forums and appealing, we can try to improve the situation, so that China will respect human rights and stop persecuting Falun Gong."

Swiss NGO Writes to Hong Kong Authorities about Appeal of 15 Falun Gong Practitioners [03.09.2003]

"ACAT-Switzerland has been attentively observing the last year’s trial against [fifteen] Falun Gong practitioners in Hong Kong, among them four Swiss nationals...With indignation we learned that all defendants were found guilty in August 2002. The charges brought against them don’t have any legal foundation...We therefore consider the August 2002 judgement arbitrary and support the defendants’ appeal on the case. We therefore urge the court dealing with the appeal in the next days to appreciate the facts and evidences strictly from the point of view of the Hong Kong legislation and to acquit the defendants of all charges."

UK MP expresses Support for the Trial of Jiang Zemin [01.09.2003]

"Thank you very much for your letter of 11 July regarding Jiang Zemin, which I read with interest. Persecution of Falun Gong practitioners does seem to be an act that would be unwarranted in our society. I agree with you that people being tortured to death for adherence to Falun Gong is unacceptable. Anybody who commits such acts should be brought to justice in the correct way and tried under international law.”

World Organisation to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong writes to the President of Romania [01.09.2003]

"In several countries/regions around the world, because of crimes of genocide and crimes against humanity, lawsuits have been filed against the former Chinese leader, Jiang Zemin, officials of the 610 Office and other Chinese officials for their roles in carrying out the persecution of Falun Gong in China. An international coalition of lawyers has also announced a coordinated effort to file more lawsuits against Jiang Zemin in the coming months. The world community is standing up to bring Jiang Zemin to justice."

Ireland: Speech from Member of European Parliament Patricia MacKenna [31.08.2003]

"I think it is up to the international community to raise at every opportunity, the issue of human rights in China. We shouldn’t be afraid to do it. We shouldn’t allow ourselves to be bullied or blackmailed with the issue of trade, money or financial resources or anything else to stay silent. Any democratic government in any democratic country must fight for the people of all countries regardless of where that country is and regardless of what they say."

Ireland: Speech from Jim Loughlin of Amnesty International [29.08.2003]

"Amnesty International calls for the immediate and unconditional release of Feng Liu and the other members of the Falun Gong movement, who are currently being held in prison or under house arrest in China. And we hope that you as members of the public will lend your support to this campaign and continue to keep up the pressure on the government of China."

International Society for Human Rights writes to Tung Chee Hwa calling for an End to Article 23 [27.08.2003]

"This is Jiang’s horrific form of genocide: It is a terror that does not just destroy lives, but aims to destroy faith. It is a terror that should not be allowed to exist in the modern world. It is a terror that must be brought to justice. That’s the reason why several lawsuits against Jiang Zemin have been launched. Why should Hong Kong prepare a law which would import the persecution of Falun Gong to Hong Kong, when other Countries are suing the responsible people for the persecution of Falun Gong?"

Speech for Rally at Parliament Hill [25.08.2003]

There can be no excuses. No silence. No looking away. Instead all governments must, with determination and resolve, do everything possible to ensure that Chinese officials, no matter how high or low their office, who have been responsible for committing human rights violations are held to account for what they have done. That is what justice demands. That is what human rights demand.

Ireland: Speech by Psychiatrist Declan Lyons on the Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners [17.08.2003]

"What is happening today in China, however, is the blatant misuse of psychiatry to act as a direct agent of social control and to be a tool of that state’s suppression of Falun Gong. Since the start of the persecution 4 years ago, a steady stream of practitioners have been labelled as mentally ill and been detained involuntarily in state forensic psychiatric hospitals...We know of between 1500-2000 such admissions of Falun Gong practitioners where families have refuted the presence of any mental illness."

London Councillor writes to UK Prime Minister about the Persecution of Falun Gong and Article 23 [07.08.2003]

"For a number of years I have supported the campaign by Falun Gong practitioners in the UK to raise awareness of the human rights violations carried out by the Chinese government against Falun Gong practitioners in China. As my constituency contains the largest Chinese community in London, this is an issue very close to my heart."

Early this year, Mr. Fannos personally wrote a letter to the former vice secretary general, Hu Jin-Tao, asking him to follow public opinion and stop the persecution of Falun Gong; the letter was returned. Mr. Fannos once again wrote a letter to the Chinese ambassador accredited to Greece, Mr. Tang Keqi and requested he pass on the information. The letter was returned again on May 22. UK: An Old Chinese Man is Happy to Stand on the Side of Justice and Oppose Jiang’s Brutal Crimes [31.07.2003]

Mr. Wang excitedly waved his fist in the air and said, “Though I don’t practise Falun Gong, I want to join your activities if I ever get the chance!” I looked at him in astonishment. He continued, “I want to defend Falun Gong against injustice! Why does the Chinese government treat Falun Gong this way? You are all peaceful, kind, and you never use violence.” When I looked at Mr. Wang’s majestic figure, I smiled from my heart.

"We witnessed on 1 July the largest demonstration in Hong Kong since the handover with the estimated participation of up to 500,000 people from all sectors of society. It is a tribute to the people of Hong Kong that so large a demonstration could take place in such a peaceful manner. "I continue to support the demand that there must be full freedom for supporters of Falun Gong and other beliefs to express their views freely in China and to peacefully practice their beliefs. It is an outrageous assault on human right and human dignity that members of the Falun Gong should be persecuted, imprisoned, tortured and even killed in China."

France: Telling the Facts to Celebrities on the Reporters Association Charity Night [21.07.2003]

Lord Howell of Guildford stated “…did we not tell the people of Hong Kong six years ago that they would not be forgotten? …will the Government nevertheless be very bold indeed, as the noble Lord, Lord Goodhart, suggested, in pointing out to the Government in Beijing, at the highest level, that their pressure for these changes could lead to very serious long-term damage for Hong Kong? Does the Minister agree that quiet dialogue is no longer the appropriate medium for handling this issue?”

It’s everyone’s duty to speak out for freedom of belief and human rights."

Speech by European Friends of Falun Gong at Article 23 Press Conference in London [29.06.2003]

"We know how many people are against the introduction of Article 23. 26,000 people have signed a petition against it in the last few weeks alone. Article 23 must be stopped in its present form. We must help maintain the ‘One country-two systems’ principle, which China agreed to in 1997. Hong Kong’s citizens must be given the chance of freedom of belief and expression, which we in the west take for granted, but which should be extended to all citizens of the world."

Cultural Revolution-Style Attack Amidst the SARS Crisis -- Another Round of Slander Against Falun Gong from Xinhua Net [14.06.2003]

We all know how SARS spread in China and to foreign countries, leading to hundreds of deaths. This happened because Jiang's regime covered up the epidemic during the Sixteenth Congress last year and during the Two Conferences this year. The title of the Xinhua Net's article reads, "Impervious to the Sense of Justice." I think this is reminding all of us of the true nature of the Jiang group's cover-up of the epidemic and their usual callousness toward human life.

Response from Swedish Foreign Minister to an MP’s Question about the Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners [18.06.2003]

Without High Mountains One Cannot Experience the Lowness of Valleys -- Why Jiang Wanted to Persecute Falun Gong [14.06.2003]

Jiang's actions can only be explained by looking at the difference between Falun Gong's principles and Jiang's character. There is as an old saying in China: "Without high mountains one cannot experience the lowness of valleys." Falun Gong teaches people to follow the universal principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, so the practitioners experience deep spiritual awareness and maintain high moral standards. By comparison, the deceitfulness, wickedness, and cruelty of Jiang's character are exposed. Therefore, he could not allow Falun Gong to exist.

Swedish MP Questions the Foreign Minister about Falun Gong [14.06.2003]

"Pirjo’s case is only one of the many similar incidences of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Last year when Jiang visited Iceland, more than 100 Falun Gong practitioners were prohibited from entering the country because they were placed on a blacklist. In Denmark, permission for Falun Gong practitioners to attend a Cultural Festival on September 21 2002 was cancelled due to pressure from the Chinese authorities."

European Friends of Falun Gong asks Members to Support the Lawsuit Against Jiang [14.06.2003]

"Today, the world’s determination is put to the test as genocide is taking place in China. It is waged by former Chinese president Jiang Zemin against over 100 million people who practise a peaceful meditation and exercise system known as Falun Gong. Hundreds of thousands have already been sent to concentration camps, and thousands have already been tortured and killed."

"In the University of Geneva, in a very small period of time, more than 1000 students from the Faculties of Medicine, Law, Economic Science and Psychology have signed a petition asking Switzerland, the European Parliament and the United Nations to intervene for your freedom. A lot of students were worried about the outcome of this affair."

Jiang's Unreasonable Request When He Visited the US Last October Rejected by the Texas Government [07.06.2003]

At that time, everywhere outside the hotel Jiang was staying in were all kinds of Dafa banners printed with "Falun Dafa," "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," "Stop the Persecution," etc. Jiang was very angry as well as frightened. He pressured the state government to force practitioners to remove all the banners. But the state officials immediately turned down his request, "No, this is a free country!"

Statement by the Swedish Ambassador to Thailand Regarding Thailand's Decision to Revoke Swedish citizen Pirjo Svensson’s Visa [07.06.2003]

"Thailand's decision to revoke Mrs. Svensson's visa is regrettable. The Falun Gong Movement and its information materials are not prohibited in Thailand. According to our knowledge, Mrs. Svensson has never acted in such a way as to disturb peace in the Kingdom of Thailand nor against the Thai government. The opinion of the Thai authorities that Mrs. Svensson constitutes a risk to the country's security is therefore hard to comprehend."

French Green Party Writes to King of Thailand [06.06.2003]

"We also know that the former chinese president Jiang Zemin is responsible for the death of many Falun Gong followers. Jiang Zemin and several other Chinese leaders are now sued by courts in USA and Europe for genocide and crimes against humanity. Our Party has for several years now expressed its continuous support to the efforts of Falun Gong followers to let the truth of the persecution they endure be known. We can say they are not at all the kind of people described by the chinese propaganda ; they are good people."

Germany: Speech by Peter Muller of the International Human Rights Association at a Falun Dafa Appeal in Hannover [06.06.2003]

"It is every U.N. member’s responsibility to guarantee [basic human] rights. However, none of these rights are guaranteed in China. In this regard, no one knows this better than the Falun Gong practitioners in China. Falun Gong practitioners are being persecuted and tortured to disability or death in China. Their family members and friends are even oppressed by the dictator and his accomplices, and this is absolutely unacceptable."

European Friends of Falun Gong: “It is Time to Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice” [05.06.2003]

"We believe that it is right that Jiang Zemin, the perpetrator of a four-year campaign of brutal persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in China, be brought to account for his evil actions in a court of law, and that the worst example of man’s evil against man in recent history should be exposed to the world. We give our full support to those in Chicago (USA) and Switzerland who are currently in the process of prosecuting Jiang Zemin through the courts in their own countries."

Russia: Information and Public Facility Association Supports Falun Dafa Activities [04.06.2003]

"Our information indicates that there are about 100 million people in almost half of the countries in the world practising Falun Dafa. Our investigation had led to the conclusion that the activities of Falun Dafa do not violate the laws of Russia...Judged by the democratic characteristics of the political system in Russia, however, I believe the activities of Russian Falun Dafa practitioners will mature and establish freedom of belief, a right protected by the Constitution."
