On the evening of October 7th, Mr. Song Guobin went to visit his friend, who was also a practitioner. When Mr. Song arrived at his friend's home, police officers were there, ransacking the place. The officers arrested Mr. Song, as well as his friend. Around 11:00 p.m. that night, the officers took Mr. Song's house key and went to his home. They ransacked his home as well and confiscated a computer, cash, and other personal belongings.

On October 18th or 19th, Mr. Song's family was notified that they needed to send a change of clothes to Mr. Song, who was being held at the Baoding Detention Centre.

Mr. Song, 42, is a draper. Since he began practising Falun Gong, Mr. Song strives to abide by the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and to be an ethical person. Mr. Song conducts business fairly and has a good reputation. People like to buy cloth from him, and his business is thriving.

It was alleged that the Baoding Police Department gave each subordinate police station a quota for arresting Falun Gong practitioners. To this day, more than 50 practitioners are known to be detained in Baoding. More than 31 people were harassed.

On the evening of October 7th, a total of seven practitioners were arrested during a large-scale operation. The Baoding City Party Committee commanded the police department, the Domestic Security Division, the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), and the police stations, the criminal police brigade and patrol police brigade to each dispatch several officers to participate in the arrests. More than 30 officers went to each practitioner's home. The police utilised tactics that included waiting outside the practitioners' homes to arrest them upon their return, switching off the house's electricity to coerce practitioners outside, and breaking into the homes. They arrested the practitioners and then ransacked their homes. Mr. Song had gone to visit his friend during the raid and was arrested there. He is still being held at the detention centre.
