Ms. Wei Shuyan and Ms. Li Xianghong are being detained and brutally persecuted in the Xinjiang Women's Prison.

Ms. Li Xianghong, about 50, was a former Xinjiang University instructor. She has been detained in the Xinjiang Women's Prison for about seven years. She has been persecuted for a long time because of her belief. She was injured both physically and mentally. Because she has serious heart disease, she has been detained in a cell alone and monitored around the clock since 2010. Ms. Li is in the Tenth Prison Division.

Ms. Wei Shuyan is about 40 years old. She has been detained in the Xinjiang Women's Prison for about six years. In April 2010, her term was extended for three years because she has refused to give up her belief. She is in the Sixth Prison Division.

Xinjiang authorities sent these arrested Falun Gong practitioners to the Xinjiang Women's Prison. The practitioners were detained in the Eleventh Prison Division for brainwashing and then transferred to other divisions to do slave labour.

This prison keeps the practitioners who firmly believe in Falun Gong in a separate cell. When prison officials beat the practitioners, they worry that others in the prison will hear the practitioners shout “Falun Gong is good!” so they have people play a drum on the roof to mask the sounds inside the room.
