Shapingba District Police in Chongqing City Have Tortured Many Falun Gong Practitioners to Death

The Shapingba District Police in Chongqing City have been actively enforcing the Chinese Communist Party's policy of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. They have been ransacking practitioners' homes, arresting, detaining, and torturing practitioners, and they have caused many deaths. What follows are some of the evil deeds committed by the Shapingba District Police toward Falun Gong practitioners.

56-Year-Old Qin Daqun Tortured to Death

Mr. Qing Daqun was an employee of Chongqing City Sanjian Company. On October 5th, 2005, Mr. Qin was arrested by Shapingba District Police officers and sentenced to one year of forced labour. On May 19th, 2008, he was arrested by the Gaoxin District Police of Chongqing City and was beaten so severely he is now comatose. He was later taken to the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp in Chongqing City. He was first taken to the labour camp hospital, then the Beibeijiu Hospital, and finally the Chongqing City Oncology Hospital where he was eventually admitted to the No. 2 bed on the seventh floor. At the time, Mr. Qin was extremely weak, on the verge of death, and was just skin and bones. On August 28th, 2008 he was sent home, where he died on September 5th at the age of 56.

Retired Worker Zhang Jieping Tortured to Death

Mr. Zhang Jieping was retired from the Jialing Factory in Chongqing City. On April 15th, 2006, Mr. Zhang was talking about Falun Gong to a group of workers at a construction site in Yuanzuqiao, Jingkou Town, when officers from the Jingkou Town police arrested him and immediately took him to Baihelin Detention Centre, where he was tortured for four and a half months. On August 29th, his son went to the detention centre to visit him and found his father was on the verge of death. He was hooked up to an intravenous drip, and was just skin and bones. He could not move or speak. He was catheterised and there was blood in his urine. The detention centre authorities sent him to the local hospital for emergency treatment. Mr. Zhang died on the morning of September 5th, 2006. He was only 56 years old.

Librarian Zhou Chengyu Tortured to Death

Ms. Zhou Chengyu was an assistant librarian at Yuzhou University library, Chongqing City. At the end of October 2000, Ms. Zhou planned to go to Beijing to tell the government about the benefits of practising Falun Gong. She was arrested at the Chongqing City Railroad Station by local police and taken to a brainwashing centre. She refused to co-operate with the authorities. On February 9th, 2001, she was taken to Maojiashan Forced Labour Camp by officers from the Shapingba District Police Department. On September 28th, 2001, Ms. Zhou was tortured to death while in the Maojiashan Forced Labour Camp. She was only 55 years old.

Middle School Student Ms. Chen Si Force-Fed for Two Weeks in a Psychiatric Hospital

Ms. Chen Si, a middle school student, lives in the residential area of Shuangbeidongfeng Chemical Factory in Shapingba District of Chongqing City. During her summer vacation in 2001, Ms. Chen and a fellow practitioner went to distribute Falun Gong information. Although she was very young, the government officials still beat and kicked her after she was arrested. Later, she was taken to Geleshan Brainwashing Centre in Shapingba District, where the officers from the first division of the Shapingba District Police Department tried to force her to tell them where she got the materials she was distributing. Although Ms. Chen was very young, she had a strong and steadfast belief in Falun Gong, making the Chinese Communist Party officials fearful of dealing with her. She resisted the maltreatment and brainwashing, refused to tell her name and address, and went on a hunger strike to protest her incarceration. She was later taken to Geleshan Psychiatric Hospital where she was force-fed for two weeks.

Huang Zhen, Li Zonglan, Li Xiuying, Yu Guanghe, and Zou Xiaojun Sentenced to Prison and Forced Labour

On the afternoon of October 5th, 2005, six practitioners, while drinking tea at Erkeshu in Pingdingshan area of Shapingba District, were arrested by Shapingba District Police. The practitioners were Mr. Huang Zheng, detained at Hechuan County Detention Centre; Ms. Li Zonglan, sentenced to four years in prison by Yubei District Court and detained at Yongchuan Women's Prison in Chongqing City; Ms. Li Xiuying, sentenced to three years in prison by Yuzhong District Court and detained at Yongchuan Women's Prison; Mr. Yu Guanghe, sentenced to one year and three months of forced labour and sent to Xishanping Forced Labour Camp by Banan District Police; Mr. Zou Xiaojun, sentenced to one year of forced labour and sent to Xishanping Forced Labour Camp by Banan District Police; and Mr. Qing Daqun, who was tortured to death.

Retired Teacher Lei Zhengxia Tortured to the Brink of Death

Mr. Lei Zhengxia, a retired teacher from the Chongqing City Middle School, and his wife Li Weiqun told students about the persecution of Falun Gong, Falun Gong practitioners trying to be better persons, and the media slandering of Falun Gong. On January 14th, 2008, the couple was arrested by Li Hong, head of Shapingba District 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and the local district national security team. During the arrest, the agents used violence and fractured two of Mr. Lei's ribs and caused internal bleeding. He almost died because of the injuries he sustained from the violence. On February 6th, 2008, Mr. Lei was sent home.

Yu Yeying's Situation Unknown After Being Arrested

Ms. Yu Yeying, 64 years old, lives in Xinhua Village at the Chongqing University. She was arrested by police and taken to both detention and brainwashing centres multiple times just for practising Falun Gong and trying to be a better person according to the principles of Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance. On August 8th, 2008, several officers from the Shapingbao District Police Department, Liu Deming, an official from the Xinhua Village neighbourhood committee, and the head of the Xinhua Village neighbourhood committee went to Ms. Yu's home to arrest her yet again. She was not home at the time. On August 9th, the authorities went to her home again, ransacked the place, and took Ms. Yu to the Baihelin Detention Centre. On August 20th, she was transferred to another place of detention and the authorities have refused to tell her family where she is being held.

Wen Tingyu's Situation Unknown After Being Arrested

On December 3rd, 2008, Mr. Wen Tingyu from Shapingba District was arrested at his home by 12 policemen from the Shapingba District Police Department. His whereabouts are unknown to this day. According to insider information, the Shapingba District Police department is planning to put him on trial.

Shen Fengmei Arrested, Sentenced to Forced Labour

On September 25th, 2008, Ms. Shen Fengmei from Chongqing City was arrested at her home by policemen from the Shapingba District Police Department, 610 Office, and the Yanggongqiao Police Station, and her home was ransacked. She was taken to Shapingba District's Baihelin Detention Centre and her family was not allowed to visit her for over 20 days. On October 27th, 2008, her family learned that Shen Fengmei had been sentenced to two years of forced labour by the Shapingba District Police Department. She is currently detained at Shapingba District Women's Forced Labour Camp.

Retired Workers Wang Wanxing and Wife Yu Qingzhen Arrested

Practitioner Mr. Wang Wanxing, 64 years old, is a retired worker from the Shapingba District Electricity Bureau. His wife, Yu Qingzhen, is also a Falun Gong practitioner. On the morning of June 1st, 2007, Wang Wanxing was walking on Sanxiaguangchang Street in Shapingba District when officers from the Shapingba District Police Department and the local national security team arrested him and took him to the police station. He was released at 8 p.m. that day.

On June 1st, 2007, Yu Qingzhen was arrested at the Shapingbao District Hospital front gate by Tang Bin and other policemen from the first division of the Shapingba District Police Department and the local national security team. She was taken to Shapingba District's Baihelin Detention Centre. On July 6th, 2007, Wang Wanxing was notified by the authorities to come to the detention centre and take Yu Qingzhen home. As soon he arrived at the detention centre, he was arrested and detained, while Yu Qingzhen was released.

Xu Yongpei Sent to a Brainwashing Centre

On the afternoon of January 6th, 2007, Mr. Xu Yongpei and his wife Chen Ya were walking on Yangjiaping Street in Jiulongpo District when officers from the Shapingba District Police Station, led by Ou Lichang, arrested Mr. Xu. The authorities took him to a brainwashing centre and tried to coerce him into "transforming" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] and giving up his practice of Falun Gong.

Siblings Yu Suhua and Yu Deming Taken to a Brainwashing Centre

On September 29th, 2005, staff from the Shapingba District Police Department, Shapingba District 610 Office, Tongjiaqiao Police Station, and Wang Jun, Shapingba District Security Division head of Chongqing City Broadcasting Bureau broke into the home of Ms. Yu Suha and her younger brother Mr. Yu Deming, and confiscated two desktop computers, two printers, and some Falun Gong books. Later, the authorities took the siblings to the Shapingba District Jingkou Town Brainwashing Centre.

Retired Engineer Gu Jiushou Arrested

Mr. Gu Jiushou, 71 years old, is a retired engineer from the Chongqing University laboratory. On May 13th, 2003, he was detained by officers from the Shapingbao District Police department.

Qing Wei Arrested, Sentenced to Forced Labour

Ms. Qin Wei, 43 years old, was arrested by officers from the Shapingba District Police station on May 26th, 2009 while she was distributing Falun Gong informational materials at the Shapingba District First Middle School. She was detained at the Shapingba District's Baihelin Detention Centre. Later she was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour and is currently at the Shabao Women's Forced Labour Camp in Chongqing City.

Shapingba District Brainwashing Centre Personnel

The Shapingba District Brainwashing Centre in Chongqing City opened in August 2000 and existed for three years and ten months. Staff included the following policemen from the first division of the Shapingba District Police Department: Tang Bin, in 30s; Li Hong, in 30s; Zhang Chensong, in 20s; and Guo, in 30s. These policemen, together with the division heads Liu Wei and Ou Lichang, who are on the Minghui list of vicious persecutors, have been sabotaging the locations where Falun Gong informational materials are produced and distributed, arresting practitioners, taking practitioners to detention centres, brainwashing centres, forced labour camps, and prisons since July 20th, 1999.
