Arrested and detained for practising Falun Gong, Ms. Cao Guiling was force-fed a pill taken from a detention centre's toilet pit when she resisted the force-feeding of unknown drugs and other substances by guards and doctors.

Ambushed at a Market and Detained

To support herself, Ms. Cao ran a vendor stand in Xifeng District. When a Falun Gong practitioner passed by, she borrowed her mobile phone to make a call on July 6th, 2013. Three people approached them and took the two practitioners away, without showing any identification. They escorted Ms. Cao to her home and ransacked it.

She was forcibly detained despite her symptoms of high blood pressure. There were no beds available, so she had to sleep on the concrete floor.

Ms. Cao fainted four times in the detention centre. The guards force-fed her disinfectant and claimed it was for her high blood pressure. After two tablespoons, she had an excruciating stomachache.

The guards force-fed her more drugs. She resisted and threw them into the toilet pit. The guards and doctors picked a pill out of the toilet and shoved it into her mouth.

As a result of torture, Ms. Cao became incontinent and unable to take care of herself. She was released for medical treatment in December 2013.

Continued Harassment by Authorities

When she was detained in a brainwashing centre for one day in April 2014, she could not walk.

Xifeng District judicial officers again harassed her at home on October 2nd, 2014. They confiscated her mobile phone, MP3 player, Falun Gong books, and other personal items. They also threatened to arrest her and extorted approximately 80,000 yuan1 from her son.
