Dai Jianguo from Jiujiang City Brutally Beaten and Arrested

At approximately 8 p.m. on September 18th, 2009, a group of policemen from Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province arrived at Dai Jianguo's home. They cut off his electricity, and when a family member came out to check the fuse, they rushed into his home and brutally beat him. When Mr. Dai's mother tried to stop them, she was also beaten.

After the beating, the police handcuffed him, carried him downstairs into a waiting police car, and took him away. They also ransacked his home and took away many valuables.

At approximately 11 p.m. the same night, another group of policemen arrived at the home of Mr. Dai's father-in-law, Cai Maobao. Mr. Cai, a retired teacher, is also a Falun Gong practitioner. When he refused to open the door for them, the policemen spoke to his daughter and threatened her. When she opened the door, they arrested Mr. Cai and took him away. He was released the next day.

Mr. Dai, 38, is a practitioner from the 806 Factory in Jiujiang City. He is currently imprisoned in the Shili Detention Centre, Jiujiang City.

His arrest was carried out jointly by the 610 Office¹, the State Security Bureau and the Public Security Bureau. Involved departments include the Lushang District Public Security Bureau's National Security Section and the 5727 Police Station.
