United States: Practitioners in San Francisco Hold Press Conference to Demand Release of Practitioners Imprisoned in China
On December 31st, 2005, practitioners held a press conference in front of the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco to protest the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) cruel persecution of Falun Gong that is more than six years old and to demand that the CCP regime release all imprisoned practitioners.
Ms. Chunrong Zhou, a practitioner in the San Francisco Bay Area, said that her mother Ms. Xiao Juhua was taken away by CCP plainclothes police on September 14th, 2005. So far it is only known that police from the Fengtai National Security Bureau arrested her, and they refused to reveal the location of her imprisonment or allow family members to visit. Ms. Zhou said at the press conference, "My mother did not have good health before. Since practising Falun Dafa in 1993, she became healthy, with a radiant complexion and gentler demeanour. But because she persisted in practising Falun Gong, police and agents from the security bureau harassed her again and again. In 2003, they forced my mother to attend a brainwashing session. My mother refused. On September 14th, 2005, she was forcefully taken away by plainclothes police while buying groceries. My father is not allowed to visit her." Ms. Zhou said, "The CCP brutally persecutes Falun Gong practitioners, with older people and women making up the majority of the cases. There are also children persecuted. They have been tortured using cruel means. So far at least 2804 cases of practitioners being directly killed by the persecution have been verified and documented. My daughter and I worry about my mother a lot. My daughter often asks about her grandma. We are worried greatly her safety." Ms. Zhou pointed out, "One especially yearns for his family during the holidays. Tomorrow will be New Year's Day. At a time for family reunions, in China, countless people are suffering the same sorrow as my family due to CCP persecution. I call on all kind-hearted people to offer their help. I demand the CCP regime to release my mother and all unlawfully imprisoned practitioners."
