More than seventy countries participated in this exhibition. Originally, at the opening ceremony, it was decided that the President would cut the ribbon. However, due to the school hostage incident which happened at the time of the exhibition, The President cancelled his former plan; it was the Minister of Culture who cut the ribbon instead. During this exhibition, many people who are big names in Russian society and famous writers came to meet the readers. The International Human Rights Organisation also joined this exhibition for the first time. Russian Falun Gong practitioners took part in this book exhibition as well.
