Agence France-Presse: Falun Gong Requests a Lawsuit Against Jia Qinglin During his Visit to Europe

Former Beijing City Committee Secretary, now Politics Conference Chairman of China, Jia Qinglin was sued for crimes including torture by human rights organisations and Falun Gong practitioners separately in Austria and Spain during his visit to three countries in Europe.

Hence, AFP published news on September 7th regarding this incident. The report mentioned that on Tuesday, a spokesman of the Falun Gong spiritual group said that their group has filed a lawsuit to the Superior Court of Spain against high-ranking Chinese official Jia Qinglin. Jia Qinglin was sued for “persecuting” Falun Gong.

David Mercader told AFP, ”Former Mayor of Beijing City, City Committee Secretary Jia Qinglin, now Politics Conference Chairman of China is the key behind the scenes that are common in the persecution of Falun Gong.”

AFP’s report quoted David Mercader’s words, ”From 1999 to 2002, hundreds of thousands or even millions of Falun Gong practitioners were murdered or sent to concentration camps. He is one of the people responsible for this genocide and torture.”

The report explained that Falun Gong practitioners handed the lawsuit to the court before Jia Qinglin’s five day long visit to Spain. Mercader explained that they hope the Spanish judge will accept and hear this case, although Jia Qinglin will leave Spain on today.

The report also said that Falun Gong claimed that before the Chinese [Jiang’s] government started the persecution, the number of believers reached one hundred million and that at least 1047 practitioners have been tortured or beaten to death.
