On February 29, 2004, following Los Angeles Falun Dafa Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference, more than one thousand Falun Gong practitioners from the United States, Canada, Russia, Korea, Taiwan and Sweden and other countries held a symbolic trial of Jiang Zemin and a press conference in Monterey Park.

At the press conference, Falun Gong practitioners used their own experiences and those of their family members, friends or relatives to illustrate the Jiang's group's persecution of Falun Gong. They called for an end to the persecution, and bringing Jiang Zemin to justice. They also called upon the leadership in the Chinese government to use their practical actions to express their concerns for the ordinary people, correct the Jiang group's mistakes, stop killing innocent Falun Gong practitioners, release all imprisoned practitioners, establish the responsibility of the persecutors and put them on trial.
