Belgian Lawyer: Jiang Zemins Acts of Terror Must Be Punished According to the Law On the 20th of August, Falun Gong practitioners and the well-known human rights attorney Georges-Henri Beauthier went to the Justice Hall in Brussels and officially filed a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin. According to AFPs report, in a 30-page statement of charges, Jiang Zemin, currently Chinas Military Commission Chairman is accused of committing crimes of torture, crimes against humanity, and genocide.
The AFP report quoted Beautier as saying the terror of genocide committed by Jiang lies in the fact that not only have practitioners been killed, but beliefs also have been destroyed. Such acts of terror should not exist in modern society. Such acts must be punished according to law. The lawsuit also makes a charge on Lou Gan, secretary of the Political and Legislative Affairs Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and Li Lanqing, the director of the 610 office, a Gestapo-type organisation that has engaged in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Beauthier said that he was confident this case filed in Belgium would at least be accepted by the district attorney as a valid case. When asked whether Jiang will one day face the fate of being arrested, he cited the case of former Chilean dictator, August Pinochet and said that he was detained in Britain in 1998. Beauthier said, Belgium is a democratic country that protects and respects human rights. We call on the Belgian people and government to join us to ensure that justice will be upheld. The Belgian Falun Dafa Association made a statement on 13th of August this year, saying that Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted for four years. In China, hundreds of people have been tortured and murdered; thousands of people have been detained in labour camps and mental institutions; hundreds of thousands of people have been arrested. People in Belgium and other European countries have been harassed by the Chinese government, as have other people in the United States, Canada and Australia. They were put on a blacklist. The Chinese government even attempted to restrain these peoples freedom of expression and assembly. The defamation and slander aimed at blackening Falun Gong practitioners names have never ceased to exist. Former CPC leader Jiang Zemin should be held responsible for this persecution. A worldwide movement has begun to put Jiang on trial so as to let people around the world understand the truth, save more lives and end this persecution.
