Practitioners in Switzerland Strongly Urge the Jiang Regime to Stop the Killing

We have received reports that the number of Falun Gong practitioners killed at the hands of the Jiang regime since last November has reached 43, with at least 22 of these deaths taking place recently. There is clear evidence that all deaths have resulted from severe persecution. The number of deaths attributed to the persecution has reached 557 as a result of Jiang’s three years of cruel persecution against Falun Gong. But these records could easily be only the tip of the iceberg; according to government sources, over 1,600 Falun Gong practitioners have died in custody. More than 100,000 are illegally imprisoned in labour camps and several thousands practitioners have been forcibly placed in psychiatric hospitals and subjected to nerve-destroying medicine causing disability or death. A large number of people have also been kidnapped to brainwashing classes, a vicious form of persecution.

With no regard for the law of China or the international human rights treaties that they have signed, Jiang’s regime created the nationwide network of notorious “610 offices” [an office with absolute power over all levels of the government, created specifically to “eradicate” Falun Gong]. Ignoring the Constitution, they ordered and trained the police and thugs to use cruel punishment of all kinds: from high-voltage electric batons to “tiger benches” [1]. Methods include exposure to excessively hot and cold temperatures, forced abortion and hanging an 8-month old child by his ankles until he died because his mother practised Falun Gong. Other methods utilised by Jiang’s criminal gang include brutal force-feeding, raping women and locking Falun Gong practitioners up in “water dungeons” [2], etc. We may say without exaggeration that the bloody suppression of Falun Gong is evil, beyond description, and the methods used are unprecedented anywhere in the world

Who is the person entitled to bear responsibility for this suppression, persecution, and slaughter? It’s Jiang Zemin! It is he who secretly commanded the order to “ruin their reputation, destroy them financially, and eradicate them physically” [referring to Falun Gong practitioners]. It is he who ordered the setting up of the “610” office solely to suppress Falun Gong. It is he who secretly gave the order to treat Falun Gong practitioners in such a way that, “beating to death is to be reported as suicide” with immediate cremation to hide the cause of death. It is he who forced many Falun Gong practitioners to become homeless to avoid arrest and the persecution of themselves and their families.

Examining those crimes described above, a group of persecuted Falun Gong practitioners and their family members filed a Genocide lawsuit against Jiang during his visit to the U.S.A. in October 2002. After returning to China, Jiang didn’t let up, but instead intensified his efforts to escalate the persecution, causing a rapid increase of people persecuted to death. We strongly urge Jiang's regime to stop the killing and end the cruel persecution.

We have let the Chinese Embassy in Switzerland know the following:

Immediately Stop the slaughter and release all detained Falun Gong practitioners.
Bring to Justice all those who are responsible for these terrible crimes against Falun Gong, and the terrible persecution endured by so many practitioners who believe in Truth, Compassion, Forbearance.
Allow for an independent investigation by the United Nations, or another relevant international association, into the persecution and killings.

[1] Tiger Bench - The practitioners are forced to sit on a small iron bench that is approximately 20 cm (6 inches) tall. Their knees are tightly tied on the small bench -- called the "Tiger Bench". They have to sit up straight with eyes looking straight ahead. Their hands are tied behind the back or sometimes placed on their knees. They are not allowed to turn their heads, close their eyes, talk to anyone, raise their hands or call out for the attention of the guards. Many inmates are assigned to watch each practitioner. Usually some hard objects are inserted underneath the practitioners' lower legs or ankles to make it harder for them to tolerate this abuse.

[2] Water dungeons - the practitioner’s lower body is submerged in ice-cold water or extremely filthy water for long periods of time.
