Practitioner Chen Aiping who lives in Hanchuan City, Hubei Province has been illegally imprisoned for 3 months by authorities from the 610 Office of Hanchuang City after she went to Beijing to appeal on July 22, 1999. (The 610 Office is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems). She was forced to leave her home in March 2001 to avoid further persecution. In the same month, officials found out what school her son attends. They duped her son into telling them Chen Aiping's whereabouts. Afterwards they went to Wuhan City to arrest her and brought her back to Hanchuan City. She has been illegally imprisoned there for 7 months at Hanchuan's First Detention Centre. She has become emaciated after holding a 30-day hunger strike. She cannot walk on her own, and her life is in danger. Hanchuan Police Department personnel and authorities from the 610 Office are ignoring her situation.

Mrs. Zhang, who is 70-years-old, was arrested when she distributed truth-clarifying literature. She was then sent to Hanchuan's First Detention Centre. No one is taking care of her 80-year-old husband, who suffers from dementia.
In March 2001, the Hanchuan 610 Office authorities held a brainwashing class. Practitioners who refused to write "guarantee statements" to renounce Falun Dafa would not be released. Over 10 practitioners have been imprisoned without due process of law for more than half a year at Hanchuan's Second Detention Centre.
